Central Archives presents Dilli - Sheher Ek Rang Anek - Indraprastha - Hindu Kanya Vidhyalaya located at Jama Masjid Delhi Central Delhi.
The dawn of the twentieth century was a time of great awakening amongst the public spirited elites of Delhi. A special concern for female education had become their grand mission - the education of Indian girls .
A start with 7 girls on rolls, now grown into as many hundreds; from Primary to High School in 1917; raised into the INDRAPRASTHA COLLEGE in 1924 with 5 girls (now 2000 girls in a separate spacious building); adding a primary school named SURAJ KANYA SHIKSHALAYA in a separate building in 1924 as a feeder to the High School - all with brilliant results throughout its 106 years of existence, INDRAPRATHA can claim to be the harbinger of girls’ education in the capital.
