Did you guys notice how Dillian was primarily searching for Dave Coldwell during the breaks instead of his first coach? However I think the match went too perfect for Dillian. The match plan went too easily too well. I felt like the two knockdowns went even as planned and it looked like he didn't event put much power in those shots. And who thought that it's gonna last long after round 4. Guess the perfect and chilled easy outcome of the match and the match plan got him carried away. It went just too smooth. And then...BOOM.

After watching round 2-4 I was actually shocked how bad Povetkin looked. Way slower than I thought he would be and hand speed not what it was, honestly he looked in decline but the one thing that didn't decline was the boxing brain. He won that by out thinking Whyte and using his experience to find a great shot, although again I didn't expect him to be quite _that_ devastating with one shot!

You casuals never learn! Povetkin looked bad?! He was doing his preparation work for the knockout punch which was a practiced one. He landed alot of body shots which later allowed him to faint the bodyshot into upper cut. He was in Dillians face getting wet, landing and taking hits. Yes he was knocked down two times, but that can happen when you're taking risks. The shots that sent Povetkin down on the canvas wasn't Whyte's best shots. Povetkin wasn't hurt in that fight and he looked dangerous even before the knockdowns. I was honestly confident that Povetkin would hurt Whyte, even after the knockdowns. I think Povetkin looked good unlike the sky commentators. Yes he's 41 years old and is obviously slower, but he's still a really dangerous guy and we knew that before the fight.

The blueprint is there to beat dillian whyte. AJ, parker, Rivas and povetkin all used the uppercut, only povetkin and aj knocked him out. Dillian whyte biggest issue is his balance. He can't bounce on his feet; lateral movement and in and out footwork. Too robotic. Plus, his combos are easy to read, he is too uncoordinated and stiff. Mark tibbs couldn't fix this issue, no other trainer can either.

I agree with you. I guess he has flat feet and this has been his problem. He lacks foot speed. Nevertheless, he will destroy Povetkin. He needs to use his left jabs more effectively to stop Povetkin away and once povetkin manages to enter his immediate range, he then lands his heavy right hand.

Dillian found a bit of success with the lead right and tried to use it more instead of sticking to his jab to keep the distance on Povetkin. Experience won that night because Povetkin recognized he was getting on the inside with Whyte. Also the fact they was trading downstairs for the last couple rounds before the fifth made Whyte more susceptible to blocking the body after Sasha slipped the lead right. Crafty Povetkin brought the uppercut to the head instead. Whyte pivoted away from the left to the body he thought was coming and BOOM! Lights out. I’m devastated for dillian but it was such a beautiful piece of boxing. Especially in the heavy weight division where you don’t see that much skill any more.

Although Whyte was winning and doing well, it’s funny how the sky commentary missed a lot of things Povetkin was doing. He was throwing shots to the body from round 1 to set a trap to come up top, which he did in the end. Despite being dropped twice, Povetkin was always in that fight because Whyte’s feet are too slow to fight at range, it takes more than reach. Povetkin is always going to be able to get in position to throw those compact punches v someone like Whyte. As long as Povetkin is standing, his style gives him a big chance v Whyte.

How come if Wilder fights a terrible fight then drops the guy in the mid rounds ,he is GREAT ?,...but if Povetkin fights well with a few mistakes ,composes himself after being dropped on two separate occasions , then reverses the entire fight by throwing by far the best shot of the fight,he is summarized by suggesting he is lucky. It's BS . Povetkin won the fight because he took the best Whyte could give and came back to destroy him. Fighting these two guys again is boxing politics and this charade has to stop. its not that championship boxing is rigged ,but its managed to a degree that loses its greatness . Hatman. Povetkin was missing hooks and overhands in the fight. Dillan was slipping them. I give the most respect to povetkin. I will say that dillian SHOULD do a immediate rematch as I see dillian winning. He got knockout by a peach of a shot. The improvements I saw with Dillian before the finish was so so good. His foot work and reaction speed was much improved also. You have a great point about maybe his not good at absorbing uppercuts. I remember the first chisora fight. He got hit with punches at the side and back of the head where you think “are you human?” Either way the choice he made on how he anticipated the uppercut is split reaction decision normal in any sport. The choice was wrong that time. I think Xavier has improved Dillian ALOT. His instructions was calm and smart. You noticed the patterns from repetition in drills.

When will these boxers realise that if you take off that much weight that quickly your punch resistance is going nowhere but down. Fury done the right thing rejecting the Wilder rematch and having 2 tune ups so his body could recover fully. He was a completely different beast after that I dont know of any specific scientific studies on the matter but the evidence is there for all to see
@Hotters9060
@Hotters9060 4 жыл бұрын
@ScarzChosenspokesmen You are absolutely right about that and I agree 💯 percent with you. Some boxers have different body types. For example Anthony Joshua is not really fast when he has too much muscle mass. That damaged his stamina although his power was still there. Tyson Fury is a naturally big person. In his fight with Otto Wallin last year in 2019, he looked weight drained and that's probably why he wasn't able to get away fast enough to avoid that one punch that damaged his face that night. As for Deontay Wilder he is not that big but he possesses a lot of power. He gained too much weight for his rematch with Tyson Fury but even if he would have came in lighter, he likely would still lose because he is not a technical boxer.

Dillian Whyte would've lasted and remained in control if he was able to get out of the damn way. He's at least a stone and a half heavier than he should be. Yes it's all good having weight for strength, but when you can't get out of the way or keep your distance for long enough, that means you'll get hit, there needs to be balance. AJ learned this the hard way.

I don't think he can afford to forego the rematch, not because of the cash incentive, but for the mandatory position. He worked so hard to get to it, to abandon it now seems like he's putting himself on a very long path..but to what? A more impressive version of himself, fighting worse opponents than Povetkin? I actually think his confidence is probably okay, it's a very easy thing to write off as a lucky punch. He was soundly out boxing and in control of the fight. I say he wins the rematch and my original pick was Povetkin by ko, late. I didn't expect Whyte to be able to land the jab so effectively and he hurt Povetkin everytime he landed.

Dwyer talked about this a year ago and I can’t believe I’m thinking this now but he said an experienced fighter will look for gaps and holes in someone’s defence or reactions to certain punches and store that in their head for later on down the fight. All night Povetkin was giving left hooks to the body on whyte and in the last round Povetkin was going for the body shot. Whyte blocked by moving his arm but POVETKIN went for the uppercut instead. Very sneaky by the veteran when he needed it the most. I’m not sure how you can train for that. Only way I can see is going for the kill next time you have him down 2 times or keeping it long range which is hard for Whyte as he’s an up close dog fighter.

I must stand alone in thinking that Dillian Whyte was not dominating the fight and about to beat Alexander Povetkin in the next round or two. Yes, Whyte was winning but Povetkin was taking the fight to him and took two flash knockdown in the process. Povetkin was right in the fight for me for the whole 4 rounds and a few seconds. P.S. Not dissing Whyte but i'm glad this happened, well done to Povetkin. Had Parker not been headbutted against Whyte, Parker would have KO'd Whyte earlier in their fight too, despite Parker being concussed and getting up off the floor.... Whyte was saved big time by holding on illegally and by the bell at the end of the fight and never acknowledged those facts....had there been another few seconds at the end of the belt....Whyte was going to go sleepies for sure. Parker desperately wants that deserved rematch minus a headbutt, Whyte has avoided it big time. Also the bias commentary, scoring and a knockdown scored from a head butt was unjust, the fight was scored very unfairly and no way reflected the fight. Why does Whyte and Hearn think Whyte deserves a rematch but Parker does not lol....who's more deserving of a rematch Parker or Whyte....

Dillian is a very good boxer and, more so a 'fighting man', a warrior who is ready and willing to fight anyone. He seems the only one, that's keen to fight anyone, anytime. Povetkin, is a great technical boxer. Despite the fact that youth is not on his side, even when when he is at the cusp of being shut down, he is tough enough to STILL have his wits about him, to execute pretty precise punches, when he is at the brink of getting taken out. Povetkin is a wily older operator, in that if you don't stay 'switched on', specifically maintaining educated, calculated pressure and, staying highly cautious too, Povetkin is the kind of fighter that can pull something out of the bag, and, give you the shock of your life. Dillian i think will bounce back. I do think he needs to concentrate on himself - not get embroiled in verbal or keyboard beefs, with his rivals but focus, on what he has to do only. Also, hard to say this, don't get too emotional with his rivals, the WBC situation etc. I do think he needs to cut down more on his weight - 18st 6lbs i think, is still too heavy for him. If he can get closer to 18st or slightly less, i think he will be lighter on his feet, to move more athletically and, still be physically strong. I do think he is mentally strong enough, to deal with the loss and bounce back. He now has time to rest, get over the loss, talk to his team, get his mind right and, come back again. The man has an indomitable spirit. He can beat Povetkin, but he will have to make a few adjustments, to make sure he doesn't leave anything to chance. All is not lost!

Alot of people are acting as though the punch povetkin landed came out of nowhere when in actuality povetkin was conditioning Dillian to the body from round 1; the difference in round 5 was povetkin decided to change the trajectory of the punch to Dillian’s jaw in between dillian’s guard rather than to the rib cage. The is called “switch of attack”; this was the same way AJ took povetkin out when they fought; he was jabbing povetkin’s body for six rounds, conditioning him to expect the jab to the body but in round 7, AJ jabbed to povetkin’s body and came up top to land a straight right to the head and that was it.
