Years back somewhere along the line I picked up a square deal, the only drawback was it only did pistol calibers. the fact that you had to buy proprietary dies was also a set back as I already had tooling, dies for the calibers I wanted to load for. It was like you demonstrate a worthwhile quality machine. It will outlast other comparable machines in the same class. I sold mine and went with the 550B later on as I progressed in my shooting needs and ammunition needs widened to rifle calibers for Match shooting. My only advice to someone looking at getting the square deal is to look for Two of them, One for small priming and one for large priming. Good Video (Took Me back down memory lane) as that was 20+ years ago. Dave.

I didn't even realize they'd made them that long; you know a product is solid when it's still being sold two decades later.

That’s also my favorite press for handgun cartridges
@TATVCanada6 жыл бұрын
It really is a fine machine. I've owned several progressive presses before and nothing else comes close to the precision, accuracy and reliability.
@miketreen74036 жыл бұрын
That’s a lot easier than I imagined. Everyone I know that has one complains about changing them over.
@TATVCanada6 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't find it that bad at all. The most time-consuming piece is the primer slide change and even that's pretty quick.

I'm guessing that if a owner is alternating from 38 special to 357 mag or visa versa with the same dies, the "Belling/Bullet seating and Crimping die adjustment would have to be performed so as to get the two calibers into spec. with out damaging the cases. Very nice explanation on this blog. A Vancouver Island BC shooter looking for clarity!

As a fellow Canadian gun owner you have my condolences.

To convert from 38spcl to .357 1. Adjust sizing die up 2. adjust powder drop and amount and adjust flaring die up 3. adjust bullet seat die up 4. adj crimp die up. What I miss?

That sounds right to me.

Is it possible to just use a different size cup on the primer slide for different size primers or do we need an entirely separate primer slide assembly for the Square Deal B? Thank you!
@TATVCanada3 жыл бұрын
The whole slide, but the press comes with both.

TATV, Thank you for this. This helped me to make up my mind to go to a 550. The proprietary dies just aren't a very attractive option. I appreciate the effort. You do an amazing job with your videos. Do you do a full script to narrate? Nathan
@TATVCanada6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Nathan, I appreciate the feedback. I usually have at least a cheat-sheet of notes to try and keep things moving along and maintain a logical order. I've also worked as a trainer and salesman previously so that certainly helps, too.

The vids come across very professional almost commercial in quality. I'm thinking about doing more with scripting. Do you use a certain mic? Nathan
@TATVCanada6 жыл бұрын
The reason I will script, or at least have my ideas jotted down, is to try and keep things moving along at a decent pace and in a logical order. One of my pet peeves as a content viewer is when a video takese fifteen or twenty minutes to tell me five minutes of content. Generally I won't even watch a video that's more than ten minutes long unless I know the creator and this is the exception to the rule, or, it's a subject I can't find any other information on. I use a Yeti Blue; although to be honest I'm not super-impressed with it. It does the job, but I've seen/heard better mics.

Do you do any video content or voice over's for other people? I agree with the professional quality. Keep the vids coming

If you talk as much as I do, sooner or later something intelligent manages to slip out; it's just the law of probabilities really. I have made videos for people in the past, but nothing since I got sick in the Winter.

Plenty... Right now I only shoot .38 Special, .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, .45ACP, .223 and .308, and that's the way I plan to keep it if I'm ever going to stop spending money on this stuff.

Hello, do you still have to adjust the tool head and die setting?
@TATVCanada6 жыл бұрын
It all depends on what caliber you're going to. If they're similar enough you're probably ok; if you're going from something like 45ACP to 357 Magnum, you'll likely need to make adjustments for height for sure.
@charlie-delta-mike50416 жыл бұрын
TATV Canada sorry i mean if i do get it from 9mm do i need to adjust them or they are already set? Just worried about the bullet seat.

Reloading 45ACP will save you a lot of money very quickly. 9mm, not as much, but still totally worth it.
