Interesting video. Tones separation, leads, high mid things sound better on the Titan, but the palm muted riffs are pumping better on the Nazgul.

Nazgul sounds a bit more scooped so it has those stronger, bouncier lows. The Titan has more mid presence. I think the Titan set is really good. The bridge has a great tremolo pick attack yet good note separation with high gain. And the neck has a very round yet also tight and precise tone. So both seem to combine typically opposing qualities in a way that I like a lot.

I like the chime of the Titan cleans, but wish it had just a touch more bass. I suspect that would be easy to EQ in on a clean patch. For high gain, it's Titan all day - the lack of bass makes for a tighter drive, so the distortion doesn't sound as muddy to my ear, with better definition. The Nazgul sounds more like a neck or mid pickup to me, but in the bridge position. I like its fullness in clean, but wish it had a touch more sparkle. Too muddy in high gain for my taste.

dimarzio titan is amazing pickup, thanks for this video

I think either could get close to the other with minor eq and gain tweaks. Id use either one. Perhaps the Nazgul in a darker sounding guitar or the Titan in a brighter sounding one.

You can't dial out the sibilance of the Titan, and that can be an issue. You will get a better cut in the mix with the Duncan.

Usually not into DiMarzio, but it made the Nazgul seem sleepy. Nazgul sounds like a neck position pickup in comparison.

Dimarzio is insanely good, check out the transition bridge model as well! Extra crunchy high output, meaner than the titan

Try them live and I think your opinion will change. The Naz cuts much better. The "thin" sound of the Titan may initially fool you, but it gets easier lost in the mix. Try the Morse bridge pickup. Retains the cut and sizzling highs.

In my opinion they are both good at difference things. I'd use the Titan on a solo/harmonizing guitar since it's brighter, thinner and more harmonicly saturated. The Nazgul sounds fuller and punchier on highgain I would gladly fit it on my baritone, wich is what i'll probably do very soon. Thanks for the excelente video comparison, it helped me alot making the decision.

The Naz has a tremendous amount of cut in a mix when chugging along - it has one of the best midrange sounds of any high output pickup imo. I have had them both, and ended up doing what I think is the best of both worlds. Dimarzio Morse in the bridge and Titan in the neck on my SL2H. I found that with the Morse I get the midrange punch and cut of the Naz but with the free flowing harmonics of the Titan. And then I can switch to the Titan Neck and get a sweet full bodied scream there too.

Nazgul is fuller and warmer in cleans, Titan is a bit more clear and higher pitched but by a hair it seems. Seems like Nazgul is primarily better for distortion and low tunings.

Titan wins in all aspects... and I must say that I never owned Dimarzio pickup in my life.. it has always been Seymour Duncan...
@AB-80X3 жыл бұрын
Nobody wins, because it's all about what you want and need. But here's one fact. The Duncan has less sibilance and thus is more detailed and has a greater degree of resolution.

Titans in my Ibanez Prestige sound like garbage. Really predominant low mid that’s hard to eq out, very disappointing. I do think the Nazgûl sounds more well balanced.
