Actually there were 2 total gold medals by Greece in 1992. Voula Patoulidou Of Greece won the woman’s 100m hurdle. Aside from that. Thank you for this! I’m really enjoying these pyrros Dimas videos. My all time favorite weightlifter ever!

One of the aspects of this documentary that i like most is the fact that gives credit to Mr Iakovou...who was able to combine different personal characters to give Greece this golden age of weightlifting..👍👍👍👌👌

he said it would have been nice to have the camera crew around back then to videotape their antics in the gym and training. That's essentially what Cal Strength did decades later.

I always knew that the spirit and passion of the weightlifting culture at FDU was deep, but I am pleasantly surprised to see its wide-ranging influence, as I presume it may have helped inspire this documentary of Pyrros Dimas. In some ways its sensitivities reveal a deeper understanding of the sport than anything that may have been produced by any general sports outlet. Worth a careful watch.

Thank you! And yes, the culture of FDU and the lifters there had a great and lasting impact on me.

David, may I ask how long all the stages of this production were? I am fledgling filmmaker myself. Did someone fund it for you? Thank you!
@DavidBoffa8 жыл бұрын
I'm happy to share the process! Briefly: this dates back to February 2016. Travel plans were in place by early March, and filming took place in Greece in April over the course of a few days (I think I was there for 4-5 days total; Dimas was with us for 2 full days). Lodging, transportation in Greece, and meals were generously provided by the Mount Athos Area. Otherwise, the project has been entirely self-funded by those of us involved. Since then production on each episode has taken several weeks of a mix of full- and part-time work (writing, getting feedback from my co-writers, getting translations done, rough cuts, edits, color grading, sound, etc.). I've never kept track of the hours on each episode but I would guess it's around 25-50 hours (that is a total guess). If you want more detailed information feel free to be in touch via email!

Thanks that is a long process! I think it would be amazing if you could do these for other legendary lifters! Have you thought about that?
@DavidBoffa8 жыл бұрын
I'd love to! The question is just one of finding the resources. If and when we're able to make another opportunity like this happen we'd be happy to continue with other great lifters. There are so many amazing athletes from the sport's history, and they've all got great stories to tell.

Hey! No relationship to Malta that I'm aware of-the Boffas in my family are/were all from southern Italy (and a few from Northern Italy, perhaps)
