great reaction. I was going to tell you the story to the song, but I saw that others already did. This is my favorite of the duos in that particular show (the two with Xuang and this one). I love the others too, but this one just was more beautiful to me and I also loved Dimash vocals in this just a bit more-though I can't complain about his vocals in the others too 😄.

It's about a girl who is a Poet but who is physically locked in her body and can only move one finger. The words written at the end are hers. It meant a lot to Gong Linna. The artistry of the set is stunning. Dimashs clothes and muted color scheme with enlarged and somewhat skewed furnishings are symbolic of her world. The song is beautifully constructed and sung. Perfect duo here. Of course Dimash always brings that deeper quality. I really loved these duets. Thank you for your reaction. And as always astute observations.

Thank you. This duet is fantastic. The true story is about a girl with a rare disease that leaves her unable to move anything except 1 finger. She was not expected to live long and she has lived to her early 20's. She has become a poet and the poetry at the end is hers and I believe it is her voice. This is the poem: 'You will see me in the transparent tears, You will see me in this moment, You will see my heart like an unknown star blinking alone light years away"

This emotional song is called “Become a Poet”. By the way Gong Linna never rapped before. This song was written for people with rare diseases and was awarded as the Best Song of the Year. It is dedicated to the Chinese girl Jenny Bao, who could only move one finger when she was born. Doctors only gave her a life expectancy of 4 years. She is now 20 years old and, among other things, writes poems using only the fingers that she was now able to move. Jenny Bao speaks the last spoken part of the song herself with the help of a kind of speech computer. I hope I told everything correctly. This song give you goosebumps. It's so awesome. Dimash’s rich tones in this song melt my heart. Linna does a great job with the rap segment even though she had never rapped before. Their voices are great together, blending beautifully. Yes, this is AWESOME. I’m moved to tears by this duet. I’m really happy that you enjoyed it.❤🎉❤ Linna and Dimash both speak twice in English later in this video. Their words are very moving. Right after you stopped it Linna is in tears and Dimash puts his arm around her to support her while she speaks about the song and about Jenny Bao’s physical condition. Dimash then speaks in English about how important it is for artists to address important social issues in their performances.

As far as I understand, Gong Linna hadn’t rapped before - she originally sang this with a young girl rapper, who did that part! On this programme, Dimash had limited time to learn the Mandarin lyrics (he still has to learn them phonetically) and it would have been too much to expect him to rap in Mandarin as well - especially as he’s only rapped in Kazakh before …

Great reaction, Rick. This is very emotional for both Ms Gong and Dimash. Ms Gong had sang this song with a young Chinese female rapper where the rapper took in the rap portion of the song. This time because the duet is with Dimash, so she took on the Chinese rap for the first time. She did a powerful rendition of it. 👏 Dimash’s voice perfectly matching the changing mood of the song. Soft in the beginning and then powerful towards the end when his high belt sounded almost like the cry of the young lady in the story. Back story is the poet is a real person, Jenny Bao who was born with a rare degenerative disease and can only move 1 finger. Doctor gave her parents only 4 years of life, but she is now 21 years old. She had to breathe with a ventilator. Each breath is a fight to stay alive. “Yon Li Hu Xi” means breathing hard in Chinese. The voice reading the poem at the end was Jenny’s voice. Ms Gong and Dinash felt compelled to perform this song and call to attention of this rare disease. Dimash said in a short interview that he felt as art man, he felt that he needs to do this to help. Biggest hugs to Dimash and Ms Gong. 😊❤
