There are few songs I have to stop the recording and move on, and this almost made the list. Dimash Kudaibergen's own screenplay here about peace brought on by war has such imagery and themes that makes me as a new mother pain. And that's what music is supposed to do, bring out emotion. Dimash does it again.
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Dimash Kudaibergen for the first time, performing "The Story of One Sky”.

When Dimash premiered this song at his concert he gave a speech prior to singing the song. I think that speech is important and gives context to the song and story: "Many thanks dear friends, before I perform the next song, let me say a few words. Thank you very much. We, the people sitting in this stadium, each of us is different, not totally alike one another, but we are all God's children, each of us with different talents. And, as I mentioned just now, right now is a bad time. In fact, I am not satisfied with the present situation. I have not seen how such situations evolved in the past, therefore I don't know what will happen next. But many people are suffering today because of a few individuals, it's really true. We, we the adults, consider ourselves to be "smarter" than the small children and innocents, but while we do our best to teach and educate our children, we forget that we also have some things to learn from those children. They are pure-hearted, kind, friendly, untainted and without egos and their love for people are pure. Young children have such qualities. I started writing this song I'm about to perform, three years ago. Generally speaking, my main purpose in writing this work is to call for peace in the world. It's a small composition that has burst out from deep within my heart. To tell you truth, many thanks to god and with your wishes I traveled to many parts of the world and met many different people during my tours. One thing I understood is that if you look at ordinary people, there is no such thing as a bad nationality, there is no bad nationality! I don't need to tell you what you already know about the reason for mentioning the topic of nationality here... Let there be peace in the world, Let there be peace. Let there be no war. Let no people, let no nationality, let no country suffer! Because after all, ordinary individuals, ordinary people are not at fault. The truth of the matter is, no ordinary person is guilty of starting a war! That's why the next song I'll be performing in your honor is about our common fate under one sky, it's called "The Story of One Sky". Hope you like it."

When Dimash sings this live, for the first time, on stage at his stadium Almaty concert, the images on the screen behind him of actual war footage is even more horrific than the MV/Short film, and appropriately so. I think he is hitting us hard in order to communicate "Look, you can not stand by as passive observers! There are individuals who are actively and forcefully destroying peace and freedom around the world and hurting the innocent in their path; and if you want this to stop then you need to see it, feel it, hear it, and FACE IT and act bravely to STOP IT!!!!! Because such destructive "leaders" are counting on people to NOT pay attention, to not see it or feel it or FACE IT because the people don't want to have their emotions upset, they don't want "negativity", they don't want to be disturbed with reality, I don't want to see it, I don't want to see it........ they only want to be entertained and party....and that is an open door to what Dimash so brilliantly makes us painfully aware of thru his masterpiece The Story of One Sky.

@@masslo870 this reactor is an analyst not your garden variety generic reactor which is why in this instance a viewer receives an incredibly analysis by avoiding looking at the video in order NOT to react. Whoever told her to analyze this one should be scolded as they should have said do NOT try to analyze it, just watch it through once then go analyze the LIVE performance. I'm not sure if you watched the whole video because she actually apologized to those who are here to watch her analysis (NOT to watch her react) because she admitted it was too difficult not to be swept up into the video. I think you're being a little too critical of her. She's not a reactor, Dear.😇✌️🇰🇿🕊️👼 I think she appreciated what DQ was trying to say & do in this MV.

Thank you. I know that this was difficult for you and it should be. That is the point of this masterpiece. I know that it was really hard to separate the visuals from the vocals because they all become one story. Dimash doesn't want us to put blinders on about what is happening in the world. This is all about going towards peace and away from dictators. The symbol on the necklaces is the gnomon, which is the main part of a sundial. Notice that the taller boy bends his and he grows to become the commander. He has lost his way. The drowning boy becomes the soldier (Dimash), the girl chooses him over the taller boy who saved his life. She marries the soldier and they have the little girl who is killed by the commander's soldiers. She is pregnant and is whisked away to an underground place to give birth to their baby boy. She dies in childbirth. The soldier seeks out his old friend with hatred because he caused his daughter's death and the war. He kills him and is then killed in return. He relives his life and screams 'we choose life'. He dies at the moment of his son's birth. The pilgrims are from ALL religions and are struggling toward the light and life and peace. The baby boy now wears the necklace from his mother, he becomes the robed leader of the pilgrims. He is also the soldier reincarnated and he is also Dimash who created this story to tell us. He is leading us to life and peace. The words at the end come from the conference on religions that Dimash 1st performed this song. The Pope was there and gave Dimash a commemorative medal for his work towards peace. Dimash gave everything to this incredible message. His vocals cut through to your soul. They are beautiful, emotional, and meaningful.

From the way the MV moves, the baby was an infant when an adult male looking very Dimash-like joined the group of male persons of various religions that had been on a journey upward always upward and their upward experience seem to coincide with the emotional turmoil that DQ's character experienced like the storm at the time of his rage and murder of the dictator, etc? I always viewed the group of pilgrims as being on a spiritual plane possibly parallel to ours? Watch it again with those elements in mind & see if you don't feel this also, Dear 😇✌️🕊️🇰🇿👼

I love when someone who's technically and vocally trained like yourself, takes the time to help us fully understand how amazingly gifted Dimash is. Thank you.

Vocally outstanding, I sort of got lost in the imagery and intensity of the video and, for reasons that I don't quite understand, ended up with my eyes tearing up. Powerful is, I think, an understatement. Geez, that vocal range and control is mind-blowing. Stunning.

We've all been there.. Dimash has the mysterious ability to touch your soul before you even realise. And the incredible techniques are only a means to an end. This short film is his mission statement, and I don't believe it can leave anyone completely untouched. If his voice speaks to you, definitely check out his channel. And Elisabeth's reactions of course ❤️

Thank you for your precious time to give feedback about Dimash's video.Thank you, Dimash for using your platform for good and spreading peace and love. All the respect to you. One planet - One home - One people - One life. Only with mutual love and respect, we can live in peace and happiness. Don’t allow the division that was created throughout history to divide mankind. Choose to see others as human first so they can be equal to you and then so you can respect them and love them with all their differences. Everyone you see was created by our creator. They don’t have to look like you, speak like you, or pray like you. They are all God’s Children. Give them good energy and love so they can give back to you. All humans try to reach the same creator in whatever ways they learn from their parents etc. Intentions are the same. Please don’t put them down because they are different than you. Remember you are different than them too. We might appear different from the outside, but the good soul is always the same. Never choose to allow others to let you believe that you are above others or superior to others. When you look down at others, you send the wrong energy, and they will receive it react to it, and give it back to you. If you seek love, give it. If you seek peace, give it.

I declare this piece of music the best and most versatile composition EVER, especially when it comes to Dimash's vocals. The finesse and artistry of tSooS is one of a kind. Vocals are the best that mankind ever produced. Dimash, you are a genius for sure! Thank you for that BEAUTIFUL gift! I must have watched that video far more often than a hundred times now. Each and every time I cry. Not only because of that topic but on contrary because of the spectacular beauty of both composition and vocals. Absolutely out of this world! Awesome!

I'm a cynical 58 y/o man, born within days of the US army being sent to Vietnam and I've never known a world without war. Someday, before I die, I hope to see one. So far, I doubt it will be this one. I understand why this hit you so hard, there aren't words to describe how this got me right in the feels. I hope your son gets to grow in a world that knows peace. What a voice! ✌️🖖

I understand how depressing the images are,, Dimash did this movie for exactly that, because it's still happening near him (and many of us) they are going through all of this,, and that's awful! We need to shake up the world to do something for peace, what the average person can do is not give way to hatred and raise their children to do the same.. There's so much tenderness, so much emotion in his voice during the movie, pain, anger, hope,,, everything! This is a fantastically good creation! I wish you and your family eternal peace, happiness, greetings from Hungary

Hello friend, thanks for sharing your reaction. This is from Dimash's official page in the video description: "Dimash Qudaibergen's 12-minute work is dedicated to the unity of the peoples of our planet. We are divided into races, nations and religions, but all We are children of the same planet and we live under the same sky. No holy book calls for the destruction of people. We must learn to be friends; it is impossible for a few adults to make millions of children suffer. The future of our planet, the future of people is in our hands, may there be peace in the world. We are children of a single home, of a single earth and of a single sky." May this message reach many people We are millions of Dears and "We choose life"

Here is a few things to help understand all the aspects of the story of The Story of One Sky. It is subtitled "Requiem” but it is also a vision and a call to action. Dimash is steeped in sacred music and has a deep understanding of the mystic teachings and symbolism of the major world religions as well as Kazakh shamanism. It is not by coincidence that the first performance of this work took place on September 14, 2022, at the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Kazakhstan. The written statement at the end of the video is directly from the “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” signed jointly on February 4, 2019, by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad el-Tayeb. Dimash met and spoke with both men at the September meeting. Everything Dimash does is intentional, and this piece has layers that would take a dissertation to unravel. I only touch on some of what struck me in the symbolism. The music is a dissertation all by itself. The pendant is an interesting element. It is a gnomon from a maritime compass sundial. This triangular blade is attached to the sundial, casting a shadow on the sundial while the perforated pinhole projects the image of the sun onto the dial. It was used for both timekeeping and navigation, with the gnomon oriented to True North. In the MV, the child who later becomes the military commander never puts on the necklace. After Dimash, the boy, gives his friend the pendant, the camera focuses on his hand and shows that his friend has bent the gnomon in anger over being rejected by the girl. Thus bent, it can never be oriented to True North, and he has lost his moral compass. Later, we see a version of the gnomon, but distorted and without the hole that allows light to shine through, as the military insignia on the uniforms of the commander and his soldiers. Contemporary music is also present: With the phrase "We have passed the moment of Imagine," Dimash reminds us that we are past the sentiments evoked by the song "Imagine" by John Lennon. It is time to stop dreaming about a world of peace and harmony. If we choose life, if we wish for peace, if we want a world without war for our children and grandchildren, we must act and take up the long hard path up the mountain towards the light. It is the only way. The storyline is a very human one: we start as innocents until our hearts are broken, we fail, or our dreams are not realized. If in our pain and disappointment, we turn to anger and blame instead of acceptance, power instead of love, greed and envy instead of generosity, hatred instead of forgiveness, and revenge instead of justice, we sow the seeds for conflicts that can turn into war. The Piper's call is seductive as it promises redress for our grievances, control over our circumstances, and power over those who thwarted us, and this appeals to our wounded ego. However, let's remember that the Piper is a symbolic figure of Death from the Middle Ages, often used as a metaphor for trusting and following charismatic but dangerous and malevolent leaders to certain death. Even if we resist, as the adult Dimash character does, we often employ the same methods and weaponry as the Piper, and thus those who fight back betray peace as well because peace cannot be won through violence. That is the dilemma of those of us who did not start the war, who do not support the war, but are forced to respond in order to defend ourselves and those we love. How can we rid the world of evil without becoming what we fight against? The burning sign "Waldenberg" is a reference to the end of WWII when the US Army destroyed the last of the resistance by the German Wehrmacht to end the war in April 1945. Waldenburg was completely destroyed as you can see from the picture. Many of the dead in those bombed out buildings were women and children. The good guys defeated evil but at what price? iowaculture.gov/history/education/educator-resources/primary-source-sets/world-war-ii/american-troops-move-through The imagery of the denouement is powerful: The cries over the loss of a beloved child and the cries of his wife giving birth to new life are presented as a call-and-response grounded by a powerful Om chant that creates a sacred space, reminding us that death and life are both sacraments and are interwoven. Dimash's vocalization and the pilgrims representing world religions and religious leaders, past and present, walking together shift the narrative toward the final conflict and finally redemption. When Dimash’s character decides to avenge the murder of his daughter, his state of consciousness is reflected in the darkening sky with lightning bolts of anger accompanying the storm of his emotions that buffet the pilgrims. The fog of war obscures the light. When he is killed after exacting retribution, he is dropped back into the "sacred womb" of Earth, the ocean of love and mercy, and is cleansed of the old hatreds and grievances that only bring more death and suffering. He breaks the wheel of endless war and suffering by choosing life. Dimash's scream of “we’re choosing life” is that of giving birth: the old earthly consciousness of an eye for an eye has to die to make way for a new spiritual consciousness that embraces all life. Soul is breaking free to return to its natural state of love and purity as exemplified by the images of the children and the newborn baby. The blowing of the shofar signals God's mercy for humankind when it turns from wrong to right: in the Zohar, the book of Jewish mysticism, it says: “When human beings repent of their sins, they blow the shofar on earth. Its sound ascends On High and awakens the heavenly shofar, and so mercy is aroused and judgment is removed.” Reborn as a leader for peace and love, Dimash's character in the form of his son becomes a guide for all of mankind on our shared journey up the mountain towards the light of God, however we may interpret or name the divine. We are all on the same path, even if our personal narratives, cultural heritage, and spiritual orientations are very different from one another. By focusing on our common destination rather than on our differences, we can walk together in peace and love and mutual respect. Carl Jung wrote: “Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious. The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely. Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” This is what Dimash has done with this work; he has made the darkness conscious. We can only raise our individual and collective consciousness by bringing to light what needs to be healed in our lives and our world, and then we need to work together to restore wholeness to what is broken and bring about peace and unity, one step at a time. We don’t have to wait. We can start right now. As the hymn tells us: "Let there peace in the world, and let it begin with me." Baraka Bashad.

So you gained this new perspective on life and death, found happiness due to the birth of your first child - I can only congratulate and honestly and heartfully wish you and your family the best. Just please don't ever forget that nerdy girl inside that many of us love to watch and listen to. Not to sound too bitter, but there is already more than enough "child-birth gave my life a new meaning" content out there. Love and family is not granted to everyone. It's a sad truth - but the rest of "us" is still out there, still living our lives. Allow the childless, nerdy, games playing humans to still enjoy content we can relate to, laugh about, get sentimental about, think about.

I've been seeing your reactions to Dimash for quite some time and this one in particular struck me because of your sensitivity and honesty. I am a loyal fan of Dimash and I was also blown away by this new installment from him. I believe that it is not a mistake to try to make common sense prevail over a political position. For me the message is clear, do not believe in false leaders or get dragged into war to defend false objectives. History is full of examples where people were tricked into defending selfish interests. I congratulate you on your motherhood From Chile with love...
