I enjoyed your reaction. This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever listened to, and only Dimash's voice could evoke such a profound emotional response in me. This rendition touches the very core of my soul. I have watched this performance numerous times already since it premiered and I am moved to tears the moment I hear the first note sung by Dimash's angelic voice. This is a vocalise interpretation of the opening vocals of Schubert's “Ave Maria”. Igor Krutoy (on piano) composed this rendition for Dimash; it is not a cover. The piece uses only three bars from the original composition and changes the fourth note to a higher note. Someone likened it to “a leap from "dark to light" which is the same contrast as Dimash's outfit (dark to light)!” The last note Diamsh sings is known as "Messa di Voce", the singing of a gradual crescendo and decrescendo on a long sustained note. It is considered one of the most difficult vocal exercises and voice experts regard it as the ultimate test for any singer, a skill even the most experienced vocalists rarely ever master. There are at least 10 other compositions titled "Ave Maria" and over 40 different renditions of these versions. The version most people are likely familiar with is Schubert's 1825 composition or the 1853 Gounod composition, based on a famous Bach keyboard prelude written 137 years earlier. Here is a list of different composers/compositions: Ave Maria - F. Schubert (1797-1828) Ave Maria - C. Gounod (1818-1893) Ave Maria - J. S. Bach (1685-1750) Ave Maria - G. This in NOT the Schubert composition. There are several compositions of 'Ave Maria'. This is composed by Igor Krutoy (at piano), a famous Russian composer who came out of retirement to work with Dimash. He wrote this 'Ave Maria' especially for Dimash. Dimash sounds like an angel and it is so beautiful to hear. Thank you for your comments and reaction.

@@stevepierce1238 I think I am outside the box, Steve, and I complimented Dimash on this performance. I can appreciate what he did here while still preferring to actually hear the words, too. The truth is, this almost was not Ave Maria. If someone had never heard Ave Maria before then it appears to me that they still would not have have heard it after hearing this. I mean no malice in saying that at all. But this is how I see it, whether I'm in the proverbial box or outside of it. Art can be both appreciated and criticized at the same time. That's how I understand it, anyway. And I respect that you may see it differently. Have a good weekend.

If I'm not mistaken, this “Ave Maria” by composer and conductor Igor Krutoy is a work in vocalize format, completely unpublished, although it seems to be a variation of the initial theme (not the introduction but the singing part) of the melody by Schubert adapted to Dimash's voice in order to explore just as three initial notes and changing the fourth note to a higher note (From B4, A4 D #4 C #4 and B4 to G #4, G4, G4, D #5): Like a leap from "dark to light" which is the same contrast as Dimash's outfit (from dark to light)! It also seems to refer to the Russian V. Vavilov's version of "Ave Maria" (wrongly credited to Caccine) and work by JS Bach - Prelude No. 1 in C major, BWV 846, with arrangements by Gounod, which Maetro Igor Krutoy has a predilection for!
