Hello Dimash Dears!! Thanks so much for watching our video. Please know we didn't understand the complete backstory, and in no way meant for our facial expressions (smiling) to be insensitive. The smiling was in appreciation of Dimash's amazing voice, AND not having an understanding of what truly happened. Please be gentle before assuming we'd be so cruel to smile during something sad. That is not, nor will it ever be, the type of people we are. Thanks for being here!! ❤🥷🏻✌🏽

The true story is that a tragic cable car accident in China took the lives of 14 people including both parents of the little boy who is crying out in this song for his parents not to leave him alone in the world. They were able to handle him to safety just before they died, and the lady who wrote the song later adopted the boy. These lyrics were poorly translated so weren't helpful at all but not knowing the backstory does cheat one out of half of the emotional impact of this song. Whoever originally uploaded the song should have supplied some brief background at the beginning.

Thank you for your perspectives. What I find so compelling about Dimash is his extraordinary ability to connect emotionally to the story he is telling. This song in particular. I can just feel the child’s desperate plea to his parents. The way Dimash calls out in anguish feels heartbreaking. And, the last lines, how he extends his hand, reaching out, like he is trying to hang on. Dimash’s body and soul inhabits any of the stories he tells. 😭💔💐☮️

Thank you. Good to hear your take and observations. True story of a cable car accident that killed little boys parents. They were able to lift him to safety at the last minute. Han Hong, a famous singer in China, heard about it and adopted the little boy, and then wrote this song. Dimash performed it while on 'I Am Singer' but he was extremely ill and had lost his voice. He had injections in his throat and was able to give a heart wrenching performance before loosing his voice again. This concert came soon after that show and Dimash is in excellent health, as you can tell with this incredible vocal performance. It is heartbreaking and dynamic. This performance was stunning.

A message to fans of Dimash and of this performance in particular: Please go to the original posting of this song on Dimash's channel---en masse----and request that whoever uploaded this video attach a brief explanation of the backstory at the beginning. That would be extremely helpful in keeping reactors from exhibiting inappropriate emotions to the song. The English lyrics, as poorly translated as they are, are not helpful in the least! I have made this request several times but my solo effort to get this done has not been enough. We need an army of Dears to make this happen!

Great reaction guys! 😎Love your insight and point of view. Not to worry because there is no "wrong" way to watch Dimash or no "wrong" song to react to. I think your idea of checking out the lyrics at the beginning might be good if you want. Dimash does usually pick songs that have great meaning to him. He said that when he first heard this song when he was a kid he said he couldn't stop shaking. And when he decided to sing the song in China, he got to meet the person who wrote the song...the same woman that adopted the orphan from the song she wrote. So, Dears aren't always insistent about backstory of a song, but this one and maybe a couple of others they kind of find it important to glean its full beauty. But also I'm going to tell you that when i first heard this song i didn't know the back story either and i loved it for what he did! He often makes me cry and i don't understand a word of what he's singing. So don't worry so much about lyrics. They are important to him but what makes Dimash so accessible to everyone across the world is that music transcends language. And he can get the point across with the emotion he sings with without ever understanding a word. You guys did great. Love your reactions! Thanks so much! ❣

The place where the accident happened is famous for their amazing waterfalls. Maybe you can look at the lyrics before. Reading uses a different part of the brain, and it does take away from experiencing the emotion, for me. I usually listen once first, and try to feel the emotions, then I listen again after knowing the lyrics. It is amazing that when Dimash sings, I always understand the emotions. When it is a story like this, it does make it more enjoyable for me when i understand the lyrics.

The song is based on a real event. An accident that happened in China in 1999, where a group of people who boarded a cable car, designed for 12 people, but which improperly carried 36, fell to the ground down the mountainside upon return. 14 people died, including a couple who, to save their two-year-old son, held him during the fall and threw him away from the device as it fell to the ground. The child was saved and went to an orphanage. That same year, Han Hong, a renowned composer and singer in China, learned the story, adopted the child and wrote this song to honor the sacrifice of her parents. It is very sad. You can find on the internet photos of the young man he is today with his adoptive mother

This song always tears me up as I know the back story about the little boy's parents. Even with the lyrics you wouldn't be able to guess that, so don't worry about people thinking you didn't react appropriately. The composer Han Hong (who's competed herself on the Singer show which launched Dimash in China, but in different years) adopted the boy.

So we're not going to be hard on people who smile when something wonderful is happening or it seems to be and if it was sad well it's just a misinterpretation of what is being sung but still appreciating and Enjoying Dimash❤❤❤

In my opinion we should know the lyrics before listening to the song. A very important part of a piece of music is the artist's interpretation and in the case of songs, what they try to make us feel with their performance depends on the lyrics. 👉 This song based on a true tragic story and is very well known in China. In 1999 14 people died in a cable car accident in China. The parents of a little boy lifted their son to safety, and they themselves died. Original singer and songwriter Han Hong later adopted the child. Dimash sings with so much pain in his voice it literally tears him apart ... and I can't stop crying. This is Dimash's gorgeous first solo concert in Astana called ‘Bastau/ Beginning, shortly after the show 'The Singer 2017'. This concert was given to him by his hometown as a welcome home and as a thank you for his huge success in China. 30. 000 people from all over the world took part. In preparation for the concert, Dimash worked so hard that he lost a lot of weight. His family was very concerned.... but the concert was great. It blows your mind!

I know that you don't pay attention to the text. But Dimash is not only an incomparable vocal, it is the soul, the heart.. I advise you to read the lyrics before the reaction, because you lose the emotional part of the song. And it turns out to be a little strange to watch you smile when the song is on behalf of a child whose parents died in front of his eyes. It turns out that the most important thing that you noted in this song is an acoustic guitar... I'm just advising you, I can't insist.

“Daybreak” - At his first concert in Bastau: This song tells the sad story of a Chinese boy (Quon Yan), who along with his family, suffered a cable car accident in Xingyi city in Guizhou province, where many people died, but the boy's parents held him up with their hands and he survived, though the parents died. The song was written and composed by the boy's adoptive mother (Han Hong) and Dimash sang the song for the first time in Mandarin on “The Singer 2017”, but he had a sore throat and sang through injections. The doctor said that if he sang high notes, he would never sing again... He sang! Then he made this wonderful version, already cured, at his show in Bastau!

💥 DR. QUDAIBERGEN soon, 29, he's finishing writing his Doctoral thesis for his PhD in Composition and remained a full-time honors student and performed at the same time throughout his entire career, until he finished the Doctoral Program coursework fairly recently and built his production company concurrently..

@@musikbyjh He IS that. Hired an international strategic planning firm some years ago and mapped out his strategy for entry into world markets for various endeavors ie, film, music, and piggybacking them, they still work closely, merchandising, tv, videos, modeling, print, he truly is a force to be reckoned with who never compromises his values in the honorable and elegant package of the consummate gentleman, which he is.. Thank you for featuring him !

I’ve never heard this Dimash song and I don’t like it. I’ve always thought due to his absolute pitch he couldn’t sing a dud note. The emotion he is trying to get in his performance is making his voice slightly screeching, and I feel like someone is running their nails down a blsckboard. There is one song of his you havent done yet is Olympico. I think you guys will like it.

Thanks, Ophelia! We appreciate your candor, especially when the Dears are so protective of every word!! And thank you for the Olympico suggestion!

What is this metal obsession for Dimash? Not to care about the subject matter of a meaningful song is imo shallow and musically ignorant. You miss the whole point. Scary there is such a lack of depth now.

To be fair, it was not their fault that they didn't know the backstory. The entirely of the "blame" lies on the person who uploaded the video to Dimash's channel without having provided a brief synopsis at the beginning. Gloria Wu did it on her channel for the performance Dimash did in China, and those who watched that performance were thus treated to the full emotional impact of the song.

Do a little research guys, and you won't look so ignorant. Google is at your fingertips 24/7. You expect your viewers to do the research for you, and that highlights your laziness, and your exploitation of Dimash for viewership. I will no longer participate.

Whoa!! Not fun waking up to this comment. 😌 Clearly you haven't been here before, Richard. First, welcome!! Why? Because we have manners. Next, it's clear you didn't watch our commentary at the end, where we said we'd do exactly that. I'll drop a link to the exact sentence for your convenience. Finally, here on our channel ,we welcome friends and support each other. Constructive criticism in a respectful way is always welcomed; anything less is not. Thanks for giving us a try.
