I agree it's largely neglected as far as the Unforgettable Day reactions. I find this one particularly beautiful though, because of the insane backing choir, the live trumpet, and the vocalizations he does near the end are unique, I've never heard him do it that way since.❤️

Gotta say i am curious on the “bigger and better” versions. But i rather see him gradually grow then jump in with a recent video just to go back without amu context to some of his earlier work haha. This is already quite exceptional!

@@JesseReacts I don't necessarily agree that the others are bigger and better. In some ways Dimash, as he's grown, does things more subtly, if you will. It really varies. His control, deeper range and level of perfection has definitely improved, but the choices he makes on how to use those tools is always a surprise. He does whatever serves the song.

This song has been growing on me and it’s now a favorite of mine. It’s so passionate and his voice once again is just beyond….next level goodness. There are several versions and all are amazing. Especially the Dimash Digital Show version is my fave. The GAKKU version has a special surprise as well. I highly recommend you check out both at some point.

Dimash co-wrote this song with his music arranger, Erlan Bekchurin (his best friend and ‘brother’), when he was 19 years old - his father Kanat Aitbaev produced the song. Dimash was 22 years old when he competed on The Singer (2017) so he’d been singing this song for a few years - his friend and co-host on the show, Alai, a Kazakh singer and producer, would have been familiar with the song. You might be interested to watch an interview with Dimash where he visits his old school and talks about being a singer - the video also features Dimash’s performance of Unforgettable Day from The Singer. Dimash wrote the music to this song when he was 18 or 19 I forget exactly but this is definitely his song, although I believe one of his cohorts wrote the lyrics to it.

"Unforgettable Day" is Dimash`s second own composition - released in August 2015. Dimash composed the music, and the lyrics in kazakh were written by Oral Baysengir. The host is not the host, Alai introduced himself as : "I’m a Kazakh singer and music producer, ALai." He accompanied Dimash and translated for him, as he knew both kazakh and chinese - which is also why he could follow the lyrics easily, both in chinese and in kazakh :) And it`s possible that he had heard Dimash`s song before, as Dimash had performed the song before "The Singer" competition. There`s videos of a stage performances of it, and a tv show performance of it (from 2015). Also, Dimash had his first headlined tour April -> December 2016, holding 25 concerts in 25 regions of Kazakhstan, in celebration of the 25th anniversary of independence of Kazakhstan, tour named "Unforgettable Day" after his own song by the same name - and probably performed this song on that tour as well. Absolutely love the soprano "runs", embellishments, from this version, love them dearly :)) He does that section different every time. He has many "calmer" songs. In this one he puts in a bit of desperation at the end, for the "how can I give you to another ?" part, in all the performances :) And here he put the extra sprinkle on top, because they warned him from the first episode that "the audience has to jump up in excitement, or you`re not going to get their vote" :)) In his concerts, half of the songs are less extravagant, and half are more of a roller-coaster. P.S. OMG the thunder noise timing was hilarious - "Ok, I won`t say anything bad about the performance" 🤣

@@JesseReacts Oh, wow, that can be dangerous, once a lightning hit in the park across the street from my dad`s apartment, he had the balcony door open and was walking towards it to get some papers from the balcony, the lightning hit, and he went blind and deaf for a few seconds, fell to his knees, didn`t know what the heck happened 😬 Also bad if you have stuff plugged in, the hdmi ports of our TVs got burned twice, when lightnings hit pretty close to our house. (now we unplug all laptops and tv when there`s a storm with lightnings). Anywaaay ... "gods are relentless Dimash fans" 🤣

Most of Dimash's song don't have wide range or high notes. This is a contest where he is supposed to show everything he can do, and in my opinion it doesn't matter what he does because the most important thing is that he does everything with so much passion and he does it so beautifully.

@@JesseReacts This "crowd" are actually the judges. It is a very prestigious contest for experienced, highly regarded and popular Chinese singers, and he is a young foreigner nobody heard of before. He is in a very difficult position there and must prove himself in every song not to be eliminated. If you want a song without wide range to react to, I can recommend you some. I have been to 5 solo concerts of his already and he is totally incredible.

The first and last part is in his language, Kazakh and the middle bridge is in Chinese Mandarin, and the meaning of the lyrics in both languages kept the same with little variation, so the feeling is same. He composed it at the age of 19 his original and has been singing it in many concerts and shows in Kazakhstan before coming to China so maybe some audience knew the song beforehand. Diva Dance is a song from the movie The 5th Element with Bruce Willis. I don’t know if you know the movie. This song was written for an alien opera singer and was not considered singable for a human voice. Parts of it were computer generated. There a some female singer who performed this song, but in my opinion not as precise as Dimash. And he is a male! Hey! Ik vind het erg dapper dat je je door het grootste gedeelte van The Singer 2017 heen hebt gewerkt en ik kan me voorstellen dat je het een beetje "eentonig" begint te vinden. Ik heb ook niet dezelfde volgorde gevolgd als jij nu volgt. Sterker nog, deze versie heb ik zelden bekeken (de gakku versie heeft een noot die je nog niet uit Miriah Carey hoort komen XD).
