The moment I realized you were reacting to this version, I thought, "Oh nooo... How long will it take him to catch it?!" 🤔 (Not long, of course...) I am a massive fan of Dimash, but I cannot bring myself to watch this version, ever. Aside from the obvious (sorry dears, these are not live vocals!!!), to me, the energy of the performance is super uncomfortable. Dimash's movements, which are usually organic, seem forced and awkward. I applaud you for demonstrating such respect for Dimash in this reaction - but of course, you "get it". This takes nothing away from him as a vocalist/artist; it's just an unfortunate reality of how "the business" works. And for those criticizing DH for not putting the whole lip sync thing aside - he can't. I'm the same way; it's distracting AF. Once a musician picks up on something like that, you can't not focus on it. 🤷‍♀️ Looking forward to your next Dimash reaction, my friend!!! 🤗🤘❤

FEELIN' YOU Jersey!!! You get it, you know exactly what I'm talking about and why I feel the way I do about it. It's not a slam against him at all, quite the opposite. I gave him a TON of praise for doing what he did, and he earned a TON of respect from me for doing what he did.

@@THEDavidHeretic There are so many fanbases who want to be placated when it comes to their faves, regardless of circumstance. (Or, should I say, very vocal minorities within said fanbases.) I think that mentality is not only juvenile, but it also does a tremendous disservice to the artist/band themselves. We all know what happens when musicians surround themselves with nothing but fawning "yes men" - that episode of Behind the Music won't end well. (Is that still a thing?! 😆) I cannot WAIT to see you react to "S.O.S."!!!

I've been watching Dimash for years now and I can tell you that most everything he does is lip synced with the exception of the 2017 Singer contest and a few other things. The funny thing is he has the ability, from what I've heard, to easily do a song in one take. In fact I've seen videos of the commercialized video and the actual recording of he song in the studio and they were exactly the same. Someone showcased this in side by side videos. People don't realize this but if you go back to Mariah, Whitney, Celine and all the greats, you'll find that they all did it and it's nothing new. I'm pretty sure you guys already know this but It is very disappointing none the less.

I don't know why this was the version requested. Yes, this is 100% lip synced. The sheer size of the venue and the importance of the occasion would not have allowed for a live performance. Too much at risk of equipment failure especially with wireless mikes. The best version of this is from the Astana concert which is 100% live, there's even a fan cam version that is very close up. You're absolutely right, he doesn't like lip syncing and in Russia where it's a common thing to be done for even the smallest performance to be lip synced he's known as a freak for insisting on doing a live performance.

From what I know of Dimash, I think he would have either lip-synched as requested or not done the event at all. I don't think he would have purposely done a bad job just to make a point. He is very respectful and polite. In all the videos I've seen of him, interviews, casual clips, concerts, I have never heard him say anything bad about anyone. (The closest he came was mentioning "crazy presidents" in his little anti war talk at a concert.) I do know that at one point he wanted to sing "Daididau" at an event and just refused to do the event if he wasn't allowed to sing it, so he will insist on doing things his own way if it's important to him. And of course, he completely quit the "World's Best" competition when he found that, contrary to what he had been told, he would indeed have to compete against children. He walked away from the prize of one million dollars and, most likely, instant access to the western music industry. Even here, I have never heard him say anything about this or speak badly of those who misled him and spoke very rudely to him when he quit. So that's what I base my opinion on. I don't know Dimash personally though, so it's just my reading of him. There is a better video of this song where the sound is lined up properly and you see Dimash much better. As long as a singer is lip synching to their own voice I don't have a big problem with it.
@DiaLinwen
@DiaLinwen 2 жыл бұрын
I completely agree with you. Dimash is a true professional and being a true professional includes lip syncing when necessary. Just to clarify about Daididau - it's a Kazakh folk song, and as a Kazakh he was upset they didn't want to allow him to perform it. He is very patriotic and it was very important to him to be able to perform this in an international event, where people performed songs from different countries. As to The World's Best - it was his condition from the start that he doesn't complete against children, and they promised him that, but towards the end of the competition, when he only had to perform one last song and to win a million dollar prize (everybody knew he was going to win), he suddenly discovered that there were children in the competition contrary to what he was promised. One of them was a girl he had known personally and helped before by contributing money from his concerts so she can participate in other contests (he always helps young artist, old people, the needy, etc.). How could he complete against her? Of course a person like him would quit even if it means giving up the prize money and fame.

👉 This song was written specifically for Dimash and the opening ceremony of the II European games in Minsk in 2019. It was the first work that Igor Krutoy and Liliya Vinogradova created for Dimash. Igor Krutoy, *1954 in Ukrainian SSSR), singer and songwriter in Ukrainian and Honored Artist and music titan in Russia (billionaire). He is a world- famous composer who came out of retirement to write songs for Dimash. The maestro and Dimash have been working together from time to time since 2018. They are friends and have a father-son relationship. Lilia Vinogradova. She wrote the grandios lyrics and is known as a permanent co-author of the composer Igor Krutoy, with whom has created wonderful works in the crossover genre. They created the cycle for DA Hvorostovsky, albums for Sumi Jo, Anna Netrebko, Yusif Aivazov, Lara Fabian and others. This is the second song (first 'Oimpico') that Krutoy and Vinogradova created for Dimash. When she asked why she did it in Italian, the poet replied: “First, Italian is by definition the international language of music, the language that allows the vocalist to open up as much as possible. This is the best language for singing... And secondly, I. Y. Krutoy and me have a well-established tradition of writing most of our works in Italian when creating in the crossover genre.” Lilia Vinogradova says about Dimash: 'Imagine a diamond that is born in the bowels of the earth - And now it appears in the light of God, and people have the opportunity to look at it, touch it, and enjoy it. Dimash’s natural talent is akin to such a unique gem…. Nothing is more important in art than identity… And it’s not even the number of octaves that Dimash covers with his voice, not the technical capabilities, but the extent to which his soul, the scale of his personality, his mind, intellect and feelings can match his technical, vocal data… And now we've added Dimash as a new element to our creative symbiosis. Very young, something completely different, new, but insanely interesting, he completely has disarmed us, captivated and charmed us with its novelty…“ (dimashnews) Dimash is an opera singer too and so he sings this song in Italian (the language of music), with an opera voice (Bariton - Sopran). No one else then Dimash can sing this song alone. In December 2019, the song “Olimpico” performed by Dimash Qudaibergen became the Song of the Year 2019 in Russia. At the awards ceremony of the 'Victoria'Russian Music Awards in 2019, Dec. in the Kremlin Palace in Moscow, Igor Krutoy was awarded Composer of the Year, Dimash the Best Vocalist in Classical Music and he also received the Special Prize for Discovery of the Year. * "Victoria" Russian Music Awards 2019 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKPdnKeAYrqHp80 * Backstage "Victoria" Russian Music Awards - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXiugayEhNx_aLs * Here is the best performance so far: Olimpico/ OgniPietra - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpyzhGmqbZmknZY (Live!!!) * Olimpico - WorldSkills Kazan 2019 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/fampnmOdoriNmLM * Olimpico - New Wave 2019 Sochi - kzbin.info/www/bejne/emeshKaBgdespq8 * Olimpico - Digital Concert 20121 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/in2yh5qFbciprpI * Opening ceremony of the II European games: Олимпико / Ogni Pietra, Minsk, 21.06.2019 - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2m7eaubqNWti80 * Olimpico - Minsk 2019 (Jubiläum I. There is no one in the world of music who handles the microphone like Dimash. Whether it's live or not, it's not Dimash's fault as you say yourself At the Arnau concert, he performs live and does it brilliantly or even better. Remember that he is trained in opera and there they don't use microphones because of the power of his voices and Dimash is the best at handling the microphone versus the power of his voice. Enjoy the show and don't be bothered by the issue of the microphone that Dimash always asks to be the most sophisticated in the world to be able to sing at his will. I have never seen such scrutiny with any other artist. Dimash has too much talent to make it seem like it wasn't real. Don't try to understand it, just enjoy it. I don't know much about production, but sometimes I have the impression that after the fact (after the show) they make some changes before publishing. Maybe they put on a pre-prepared version. I don't know the name of the process, but sometimes I see sweat on my face, hair movement under the influence of exertion, a hole in the neck when she makes high notes, and the visual effect on the screen suggests synchronization. The Russian audience does not applaud much, looks around at the performance, only real fans give their best. And in films from such performances, there are many cheers, applause, joy, etc. Dimash's concerts are different. There, in fact, people play, enjoy and sing with him.

One of my bands was actually all set to perform on a morning show (I won't say which one) and we were told 15 minutes before we were to perform that we were going to have to lip-synch. We said no, they said "Our way or the highway", and at the advisement of our manager we grabbed our gear and walked out. They were in breach of contract. They tried to sue us, we counter-sued, and in the end it all ended up being a wash.

He is NOT lip syncing. For God sakes people stop. Dimash controls his mic because he has a lot of power. This you will see in all his live shows. You are wrong. I know it looks that way at times, but it's not. I have seen a time they required he lip sync. It was just so obvious. When it comes to singing...there are many ways you can tell. Check out the other video of Olimpico....same outfit. Dimash is known for having to move his mic far away. He has been accused of this so much, often he will shake the mic back and forth to prove he is live. He has a top notch sound guy that works the board. Erlan knows what, when, how Dimash needs things. Dimash is a classically trained singer who has actual projection. He is also more powerful than many opera singers. He builds his lungs through swimming. Singing is a sport. Also, classically trained singers mouths look different when they sing. They control their vocals differently. However, you are right about production companies and most acts today. It's awful. But, Dimash is known to deliver. He is that good.. Another artist they will do it in a show like this. Watch the other video from Arnau concert. Olimpico. Sung live. Just as perfect. Dimash is not about the money. Check out his concerts.

A couple thoughts. World Skills Kazan 2019 in Russia had nothing to do with athletics. It was the closing ceremony of an international competition showcasing vocational skills in many fields (and attended by Vladimir Putin; perhaps he decreed there must be playback.) Just kidding. Anyway, recording vocal tracks is said to often be mandated for televised shows in Russia, and frankly the whole endless discussion of if and when Dimash participates in this system is getting more than a little boring--no offense to you or others who find this topic so intriguing. Regarding your fantasy of Dimash being "pissed," suffice it to say he is unfailingly gracious and polite in his performances as well as offstage . He's not a tempermental Western "diva." Next, he is well known for his expert mic work in relation to his very powerful voice. And finally, you must know how the very entertaining Chili Peppers sounded singing their great songs live....thus the Super Bowl lipsync! I hope you will want to get to know Dimash a little better, and thank you for reacting to the finest male vocalist performing today.

Whether overdubbed or lip-synched (and it was one or the other, it was not live no matter what other Dears mistakenly claim), it doesn't really matter. It was Dimash's original recording, and it was brilliant. And thank you for pointing out that it was not Dimash's decision but the production company's. All of that being said, I reject any criticism of the way it was handled because this was a stadium of 40,000 people and the producers were simply using the technical processes they had available to them in order to make the performance as perfect as possible.

@@johnsmith_1942 This performance took place in Russia. For whatever reason, Russian venues customarily require that performances be lip-synched. Could have something to do with television broadcast or quality control but I'm sure Dimash is willing to comply with whatever rules are put into place. There are simply some circumstances under which live vocal performances are not possible. In the end, it doesn't matter that the vocals aren't live if the audience doesn't notice---or doesn't care. It seems to only ever be an issue with those who are dissecting a particular performance on video, after the fact.

To fellow Dears requesting reactions - whatever your views on whether Dimash lip-synchs, please can I ask you to avoid videos where you are aware people raise that he is lip-synching. Safe choices are: all the Singer performances; most SOS performances (NOT Emigala); most of the Digital show performances; most of the Kazakh language performances; Unforgettable Day at Gakku; Marigolds; Know Vocalise version; and of course all the music videos (because lip-synching is not a problem). Please ignore the Krutoy performances as a rule (or at least acknowledge there is some debate about whether the vocal is live). With love and respect. Noah.

You are partly right, but this is not lip-syncing; it is a technique where the singer sings along in parallel and does not just move their lips. This is referred to as "live-support playback" or "backing-track support." The playback is used as a support to enhance the live singing and ensure that the performance is consistent and of high quality. This technique is often used in large concerts and television performances to ensure that technical problems or acoustic challenges do not affect the performance. Given the size and importance of this organization, it is essential to minimize all potential technical problems from the outset. This includes measures such as the use of live-support playback to ensure optimal sound quality and a smooth performance. Such precautions are crucial to maintain professional quality and a seamless flow at significant events. The event where Dimash Kudaibergen performed was the closing ceremony of World Skills Kazan 2019. These international vocational competitions bring together young professionals from various countries. The 45th edition took place in August 2019 in Kazan, Russia. Over 1,350 participants from 63 countries competed in 56 vocational fields. Around 270,000 people attended the event, including prominent spectators such as Russian President Vladimir Putin and other high-ranking personalities from around the world.

It often happens that at large events like this the performances are prerecorded. Nearly always on TV. What I can say is that he is a master at having to do those performances since he often appears on tv, so he doesn't accidentally let a mic slip. Operatic projection is different and he sings with an extremely sensitive mic. At concerts he sometimes drops his mic on purpose in one song and you can only hear the sound change once it gets to around his stomach. Elizabther Zharof (Charismatic Voice) did an analysis of this performance and noted that he made a slight mistake at the end that he managed to correct, which means it was probably sung live as he wouldn't make a mistake in a studio recording. I think it is impossible to say for sure if it was live or not, but I don't think it really matters much. It doesn't take away from the sheer virtuosity.

I'm glad you're aware it's not his call. I much prefer this other version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpyzhGmqbZmknZY. However, I don't think another singer could have performed this for him unless they agreed to be imposter Dimash. This piece was written by Igor Krutoy FOR Dimash's voice at the opening of the European Olympic games. Dimash is so seemless that many people accuse him of lip syncing even when he isn't. Dimash is extremely upright, so I can believe your theory. When Dimash performs live, he usually changes something about his vocal arrangement so the audience will feel they're getting a fresh version to make their ticket price worthwhile.

I have to say Dimash sometimes lipsyncs. I don't know why because he defintely can sing his songs live flawlessly. Probably because of the producer required him to do so on TV, or he cannot do all the very demanding songs in 3 hours, or because his health was not good. I don't know. As a fan, I wish him changed the song to make them less difficult to sing live. But I'm still a fan, and I'm grateful that he reserves his vocals so that he still can sing the songs that nobody else can to make us believe in magic.

If I never turn another person into a Dear, this one will be satisfying to me. But I'm going to keep trying. That’s a very interesting and insightful observation. Being that I am a total amateur with no technical background I very likely wouldn’t have caught it. But I agree with what you said about the whole production. I also almost always favor the artist over those pulling the strings. In my book it’s the artist who deserves far more credit. This whole deal reminds me of other performers who also showed some independence in the face of controlling companies. Specifically Nirvana. When they were hired to perform live at an Mtv Video Music Awards show, the band had their own ideas of what songs they wanted to perform. But Mtv insisted on them playing their big hit single at the time. Well, the band being who they were, and Kurt being who he was, they snuck in a little snippet on their own terms. When it was time to start, Kurt played the opening bars on his guitar of the song he had wanted to do instead. Then they switched to the song they were told to do. So I, too, love that streak of independence that some artists have. That they don’t 100% go along with every little thing they’re told to, is a testament to their character.

Hi David and others! Igor Krutoy wrote a magnificent song and Dimash performed it to perfection. The problem lies in the word "live". Why use it anyway? There is no question that Dimash couldn't perform the song live, his vocal ability is well known and verified. Why not just say something like "performance on stage" or as they used to say in TV comedy series: "recorded in front of a live audience" 🤣🤣🤣. We watch music videos and listen to records without complaining or doubting the artists talent. I enjoy great performances despite the fact that I suspect/know that the vocals are prerecorded or processed afterwards. It's just the word "live" that bothers me. The reason for using the word is obviously to increase the marketing value of the video. How could we get rid of the false use of the word and restrict "live" to those rare situations, where the vocals truly lack of any manipulation. 🤔🤔🤔 Love from Finland 🤩🤩🤩

So glad you said this was not a live performance. So many reactors just pretend it’s live. Some fans will insist it is live. Dimash lip-syncs sometimes, that’s the industry. But can he genuinely sing those notes? Absolutely!

First, I despise this video. Probably the worst one to pick LOL. It may be lip syncing I don't know, but his mic control live is done solely by him. Watch his live concert performances. He has Held the mic at full arms length with full voice. Please react or simply watch a live (there is one of this song) performance and notice how often he holds the mic at mid chest range because of the strength of his vocals. He is a vocal genius. 😎

Thanks, but I don't see what's the point in uploading a reaction video to just say it is lip synced (which is true, by the way). Doesn't it make more sense, when you realize, to stop the reaction and make a small research to find the good video? It's not so complicated, you have it in Dimash's official channel, kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpyzhGmqbZmknZY

If he drops the mic as you wished he should, that would be end of his career. Dimash has a goal that he hasn't completely achieved yet so he has to put up with all the crap they tell him to do, until the day he owns his own production company and becomes his own boss.

As much of a problem as this is in the western world, I've found out it's even worse in the eastern countries (Russia, especially). To the point that some production companies have to put a label on the corner of a screen saying "Live Sound" when something is live, but you're still going to be incredibly suspicious of it. It's one of the reasons Diana Ankudinova rejected all the contract offers after she won You Are Super! and went the independent route (crowd funded her first album). She's so stubborn that I think there may have only been one or two times she agreed to do something non-live but it was government related performances. In that part of the world you can't really reject that kind of offer. Which may have also been why Dimash accepted it on this performance (government sponsorship involvement).

Ikanaide 2021. Hi from Siberia.

Yes, this was lip-sync, but I think you dwelled way too long on it, forgetting all about the song/singing. By the way, the choir was fake too: there are no mics and you can see that some of the guys start moving their mouths only after they saw the camera focusing on them. Likewise half of the orchestra was fake (apart from the conga man). There is not much live in Russia... And what bothers me is the naivety of so many dears who believe contrary to evidence that Dimash never lip-syncs. Yes, he does lip-sync, in particular in his performances in Russia. But who cares: I want a good audio, whether it is live or studio-produced. And Dimash is still the one who sings.

Greetings from Hungary!

@@THEDavidHeretic yeah, what I'm saying it is that I think in general, even if the singer wants to, lipsyncing it it's fine. There are a lot of contextual things that can affect the voice, for example illness, stress/pressure, being tired, maybe the singer has a couple of songs being a bit harsh on the voice and sings em in lipsync a couple of concerts to protect their voice etc. I think they are all valid reasons. The only time I really can't stand lipsyncs if the singer lipsyncs an autotuned song, which is a cover that is barley changed of the original. My question there is... what did the musician provide? Singing? If I can hear autotune at first glance your singing probabl, isn't great, the song? it's a cover that is barley changed, might as well call it theft. Live performance? nope. So I think except in that case it's totally okay for whatever musician. As a fact there is a performance dimash had autotune on him and you can hear it in a couple of places, but funnily enaugh, in the really hard places of that song, where you should definitely hear the autotunr it was just not there. But then as well, we are humans, we get tired, make mistakes etc, I think it's understandable for singers/productions trying to cover them up as much as possible to have a better immage, we do the same thing whenever we tell a story that ibcludes ourselves ^^ (tho hhe autotune in that dimashs performance really sounded bad xD)
