Dimash and all the other competitors sing live in all their performances in this Chinese singing competition "Singer". from 2017. Dimash was 22 years old back then. All the other competitors were older professional Chinese singers. Dimash finished in 2nd place. All of us who know what Dimash is capable of vocally when he performs live, do not write hateful comments to reactors. So ignore them, because you are right. Unfortunately, Dimash doesn't always decide whether he can perform live or not. It's a shame though.Thanks for a really good reaction.

If you want philanthropy then you couldn't find an artist more involved with charity work. Every cent of the profits for The Dimash Digital Show went to Project Cure. The flag for the charity partnership is shown in the bottom right hand corner of the songs from that show. He contributes both time and money towards many charities, he contributed 5 tonnes of food to people in need in his home town during lockdown. He visits orphanages, hospitals, and elderly homes, plants trees and makes special visits to sick children who have asked to see him. We're probably only aware of 20% of the charitable work he does as Dimash is very fond of saying that the left hand should not know what the right hand is doing. In fact in interviews he appears shy, even embarrassed when questioned about his charity work, we only find out because the Dears are great detectives. Even the masses of flowers he is given at performances get delivered to the nearest hospital or home for the elderly.

As a former singer myself, you were spot on with the lip synch for the song Olympico at the World Skills Games. It is unfortunate that was the video you watched, as he has performed that song at many other concerts and venues where it is obviously live, and just as good if not better than any lip synch. Early in his international career, there were accusations of lip synching and also people not believing he could actually do it live. There are several performances where Dimash takes the microphone and moves it side to side in front of his mouth making what sounds like an echo effect, proving that his vocals are live. He does this on purpose when singing live. Yes, it does sound cool, but it serves the purpose as proof of live singing. As you delve more into Dimash, you will find that he is a master of mic skills. With his opera background, he can sing quite loud, so this is a must. There are times when he is belting or really high into head voice where he HAS to pull the microphone really far away from his mouth in order not to kill the guy on the soundboard and to keep the sound unified in volume. For me, watching Dimash has been a Master Class in vocal dynamics. Yes, the range is ungodly and unheard of in a male voice, but it is the dynamic way in which he is using it that is impressive. You will not find too many singers that can go from lyrical soprano to baritone in less than two seconds in the same song. You also will not find too many singers that can easily belt a single note for well over 20 seconds with absolutely no degradation of the sound of the note, with only vibrato coming in at the end. It is these types of technical details that are and should be super impressive to any and all musicians. I have found that the average music listener does not really understand what we are seeing in Dimash. Only true musicians understand what we are seeing, which is a savant unlike we have seen since we have been able to record the human voice.

Since I'm not a new subscriber, I knew that your rating of 9.4 on SOS was very fair for your standards, and how rare that was for you to give. I am a passionate "dear" (Dimash fan), and I subscribe to your channel way before you started reacting to Dimash as you are one of those rare reactors with not only great knowledge of music and singing, but with integrity. What's impressive is that Dimash has only gotten better from his "The Singer" days in 2017. He literally has worked on his craft since age 5, and continues to improve it year after year. To avoid any possibility whatsoever of lip synching, you can watch him performing live in the Dimash Digital Show 2021. Those recordings were done totally under his control. He is proud of his singing abilities, confident in them, and refuses to lip synch (if at all possible, but of course in some cases he is forced to). In competitions of course, he is singing live against other live singers, to be judged with no filters on the pure talent, so you can be certain there cannot be lip synching going on (despite the different camera angles - that is irrelevant in a TV contest as it has to be live and it has to stay interesting). The Singer competition 2017 was judged by the 500 audience members who had been selected from all parts of the music business. Highly experienced and knowledgeable, they are in the perfect position to critique every performance. Their reactions to Dimash's voice are clear. They were shocked, stunned, moved and delighted in turn for his best performances, and they voted many of them top. He lost first place by a couple of points only. It is hard to get top vote every week over 14 weeks against such high caliber contestants, and not every song he did was a hit with the audience. For me, certainly, on a couple of occasions I found some of his 'over emotional stage acting' a little too forced and that possibly lost him a vote or two. Even so, after this TV series his success in China was assured, and as they say, the rest is history. BTW, something else he did another time on TV (when I am almost certain he was lip synching) was he deliberately finished the song with a stunning ad libbed vocalised section. You can hear his main vocal track continuing underneath. Two finger salute again to the producers there. Respect, respect, respect Great reaction. Absolutely love it! More Dimash please!!

En ciertas ocasiones ha tenido que ser pista porque son en programas de TV, principalmente en Rusia donde le piden que sea así. I wrote the same thing as you once under the Stranger video. And below a video of a rehearsal. With the addition that it's not his choice and we all know he can do it live. Nevertheless, there were a few dears for whom it was something of a "desecration". I am enin Dear myself and play his songs on 2 online radio stations in Germany. But I also know that you can't hold a note while falling to the floor without hearing even a hint of a volume difference. It's not a disparagement of his performance. On the contrary. You're not doing Dimash any favors by lifting him onto a cloud from which he can then fall too far. He can do it live... and if he's not allowed to do it live... so what... then his performance as a perfect performer shows... btw.. I've even seen my dears who thought he even sang live in the music videos... that's passion.. but a bit misguided. I like your frank words..

I didn’t know this song/performance going in. If I’m being honest, I didn’t like it as much as some of his other, more recent live gigs. Of course that’s just me. But I love it when he not only goes high, but also drops down low. There is another older performance that was filmed in a country outside the U.S. where to my ears, he sang some lines all the way down in bass. I have bass range myself so I’m able to recognize that depth of pitch. So when he’s super-low and super-high it’s astounding.

D8 actually. But all notes of E7 to D8 are whistle notes, usually given by Dimash as a show off. The highest in head voice for a song is I think max at F6 and chest voice wise Bb5 / G5 usually. So E6 here is the usual highest belting in head voice Dimash gives. And shown first time in this song worldwide?

I'm surprised you didn't know it; I had even heard this before. Very popular in Russia. I relate it to Russian roulette; you don't know what's goanna come out each time. They are giving you the odd songs. My advice is to only use live shows, he is much more impressive live. I know he was lip-syncing at the Olympics and on some EMI show, I refuse to watch them. His highest recorded note is D8, not 7 on Unforgettable Day (Gakku)(Kazak language). This score is more than fair ( maybe a bit too high considering other songs performed by him I know of, that are better in my opionion)and I do love your sincereness when you explain the reasons for a score. You are one of the few honest reactors out there and I appreciate that. I had more than a feeling that the Ogni Pietra performance you reacted to was a lip sync performance but you showed the evidence. I attended a concert live so I know what he is capable of. There are a few videosout there where he may have lip synced as well but as far as I know there is always a proof he can do it live in other videos. This was made popular by a Ukrainian/Russian singer, Vitas (real name - Vitaly Grachov) who has a 5 octave range. Dimash went higher in this performance and Vitas prohibited Dimash from ever performing it again....

A lot of the performances in Russia or with Igor Krutoy are lip synced. It’s not because he can’t do it, it’s because it is required. I suggest you check out “Stranger” from Shine Brothers in China( totally live). The one from New Wave isn’t. Also, there is a fan cam performance of Sinful Passion in Moscow that is totally live and unbelievable. Lots of live performances of his that will blow your mind, but there are also quite a few that are lip synced.

I did totally agree with you that Olympico at World Skills is lip synced. I've always hated that performance. However you have got to see Autumn Strong from any of the more recent concerts. Being opera trained Dimash is able to use a technique known as vocal flight and at the end of the song he visibly prepares himself and steps away from the mike to finish the song. Was going to drop you a like but noticed you have 777 and I don't have the heart to break the Perfect Number. So I'll leave a comment instead. Dimash does use the mic very strategically to add more layers of vocal effect that he controls. It makes the lip syncing during that one Olympico version all the more obvious when you see how aware Dimash actually is of the mic at all times and how he uses it very deliberately during live performances. Now that he's fully established, he and his family manage his career, making crappy bureaucratic decisions over his performances FAR less likely.

Dimash imád énekelni és a tátogatós éneklést csak a közönség iránti tiszteletből vállalhatja, mert sokan követik minden fellépésére, mi lenne, ha mégsem lépne fel.
