I am an absolute fan of Dimash, love every single performance, the notes he hit in Opera 2 is incredible, completely amazing, but JUST my opinion, this song did not evoke as much emotion as SOS and Sinful Passion. It wasn’t just you who were impressed. Dimash’s own father, Kanat, arrived just before the performance. He’d taken a leave from his job at the Ministry of Culture after the sudden astronomical success of SOS the week before. He realized it was a major turning point in Dimash’s career. He is the guy pumping his fist in the shadows. Dimash didn’t know he’d made it until he was bowing and saying thank you, and suddenly spotted his dad. There’s a different video where you see them embracing, Dimash lifting his dad, etc Kanat eventually quit his job to help manage Dimash’s career.

The song is very famous in Russia - the great vocalist Vitas introduced the song widely. He did 1 modulation (Dimash's second). Then Dimash went on to do a total of three increased modulations. Dimash was served papers by Vitas's lawyers, and has never performed this song in public since.

SO LONELY, His Mother related in an interview, everybody went home, shortly after his 1st appearrance on the show. Alone in China, with his interpreter and coach for months, not speaking the language and the stress of learning a new song every week, each phone call found him more and more despondent, they live tradionally, the entire extended family under one roof. Gravely concerned, his Father phoned the show, informed them of the situstion and told them he was flying out on the next flight and wanted to be in the audience, a surprise for him. They were thrilled, having noticed his steep decline in spirit. He never returned home; from the end of the show, a family member has always accompanied him when he travels. The interviewer asked, when it's your turn, what do you do during the endless rehearsals ? She looked at the camera, smiled and said.. Shop !

I just had to tell you, I get such a kick out of your gobsmacked reactions to Dimash! You will agree with me, even with the small exposure to his vast body of work ,with all its forms and genres that you have experienced thus far, that Dimash does not do music 🎼. Not like we have always thought of it. Dimash performs “soul magic”. Dimash's "Love is Like A Dream" performance for a concert given in honor of Alla Pugacheva in Moscow on the 8th of April 2019 will always be one of my favorite performances of his. I am sure you already know this, but Igor Krutoy composed this song about 25 years ago for Alla Pugacheva and modified it for Dimash to sing for that event. I agree with you. It is truly one-of-a-kind, just like Dimash. I have watched it countless times over the past 10 months, and I am still moved to tears each time.

It's so great for me as a UK Dear to finally see the UK reactors discovering Dimash and appreciating his talent. I'd definitely recommend Olympico as your next reaction. Look for the thumbnails where he is surrounded by a ring of light as the whole performance is epic and will also give you an idea of the scale of his concerts. Dimash is due to open the Olympic games in Beijing on 4th February and I'm betting it will be with Olympico.

There's been lots of news so it looks like this time that he's been quiet on social media he's been extremely busy in the studio. A Russian record company has announced they are working with his new songs so hopefully a new album will be coming? Then the Dubai restaurant is opening in mid march with the Dubai concert on 25th march immediately leading into April with the Minsk, Dusseldorf and Prague concerts. after that, who knows? He's been severely constricted with Covid restrictions so I'm guessing he's going to make up for lost time.

Dimash's approach to each song is different so there are some that he doesn't show that explosive high range but they are absolutely wonderful also. Loved your reaction! This was Dimash’s second performance in the 2017 Singer competition. The song was originally sung by the Russian singer Vitas, who only achieved one step (half-step?) up, so Dimash outdid him by adding two more steps up. Or half-steps, I guess, according to one vocal coach. And IMO, the reactions of the other contestants in the back room just add to the delight of hearing Dimash, so I do recommend playing the Singer performances all the way through. BTW, there is also a video that shows the moment Dimash realizes his father is there - he was the man they showed in the shadows, who unexpectedly was able to make it for the performance.
