I only recently discovered Dimash after ignoring him in my KZbin recommendations for more than a year. I figured he was just the latest pop "sensation" and I generally do not listen to that genre of music. I am almost embarrassed to admit that I have since watched hours upon hours of reactions to his various performances. I mostly watch reactions from professional vocal coaches, many with backgrounds in Opera, as well as vocal students, and professional singers. I just came across your channel (and subscribed), and like you, I am absolutely amazed by his incredible talent, ability, vocal range and dynamics, his delivery, as well as his stage presence. You have barely even begun to scratch the surface of his talent and vocal ability. I am looking forward to your next reaction. By the way, some Dimash fans are almost cultic to the point of fanaticism and they get outright defensive and combative over any perceived criticism of their "object of worship." Quite sad really because I am fairly certain that Dimash himself would handle criticism with much more grace and kindness. They would fare well to keep in mind that Dimash is just a man, not God. I am simply an admirer of good music and talent, regardless of genre, and do not count myself among the Dimash fanatics, but I am utterly amazed by him. Dimash is from Kazakhstan and comes from a very musical family. He started singing and piano lessons at the age of five when he was found to have perfect pitch. He is university-educated with degrees in classical/opera, contemporary music, pop, and jazz with a major in vocal. He also completed a Broadway musical master’s class and has recently completed his Master's with a concentration in Composition; his thesis was titled: "Personal Image of Traditional Music". He graduated with Honours, achieving a perfect score of 100%. He is currently working towards his Ph.D. as he wants to teach music after his singing career. Dimash has diligently honed his craft and developed his God-given gift for more than 20 years now and it shows. I read somewhere that Dimash used to swim 3 hours every day to increase his lung capacity. It's not just raw natural talent but tremendous work, dedication, and discipline to achieve this level of performance. He has won many prestigious singing competitions and is a much-loved national treasure in his native Kazakhstan. He was even offered a place with the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to follow his own path and he has been very successful thus far. He sings in 12 different languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is getting pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin which he says is a very hard language to learn. Dimash also plays six instruments; the piano, dombra, guitar, xylophone, cello, and drums. During his live concerts, he usually performs for more than two hours and treats his audience to an eclectic mix of styles. His range is over 7 octaves (A1-D8), according to some analysts, spanning across all four registers. As many probably know, the four registers, from lowest to highest are: vocal fry (pulse), modal voice, falsetto, and flageolet (whistle tone), and Dimash seems to effortlessly navigate between them, often within a single breath and without a break in between. Dimash has even hit a D8 for ~5 seconds with vibrato, the highest note ever performed during any live performance. He sings in multiple musical genres. His main genre is classical crossover, but he also sings classical music (bel canto), pop, and world music. He uses musical elements, vocal styles, and techniques of many other genres, including jazz, rock (e.g. screams), RnB, musical theater, even rap, as well as Tribal and Middle Eastern styles.

I think it's the same for all the Dears Jens, we hear him for the first time and then spend every available moment hoovering up everything we can find. I found myself still watching KZbin videos at 4am when I should have been asleep hours before. I agree about some of the fans being cultish. I've found that the best way is just to ignore them. I've been lucky enough to find a great group of friends within the Dears who all share my irreverent sense of humour and yes, Dimash is extremely good at poking fun at himself, his sense of humour is brilliant and seems very close to the British self deprecating, Mickey taking humour that us Brits are renowned for.

It's so good to finally see the UK reactors finding out about Dimash. I've been a UK Dear (what Dimash has called his fanbase) for about 6 months now and still can't believe everything he is capable of. He still surprises us with every new performance. He doesn't just have a phenomenal range, he crosses genres and sings everything from opera to rap. Musically trained from the age of 5 (he's now 27) he is currently doing his PhD in music whilst touring and making numerous appearances in China. He's acquired his millions of fans through not only being a talented musician and vocalist (he sings in 13 languages and plays 7 instruments) but also being one of the best human beings on the planet. Loving, funny, kind and generous, he leads his fans by example and contributes massively to charity both in terms of money and time. Thanks to Dimash I now have friends on every continent and we talk every day. My only regret is that I didn't find him early enough to attend his London concert but am hoping that Covid doesn't prevent the three Europe concerts from going ahead in April.

This was a very enjoyable reaction. Dimash performs here at the 2018 International Festival of Arts “Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk”, generally known simply as “Slavic Bazaar.” It is an annual festival held in Vitebsk, Belarus, sponsored by the Belarusian Government since 1992. Its main program promotes Slavic music and the majority of participants are artists from the former Soviet Union and other Eastern Bloc countries. The song “SOS (d'un Terrien en détresse)” is originally from a French-Canadian musical called ‘Starmania’ from the 1970s and is considered one of the most difficult French songs to perform. What he said, in the end, was: "Allow me to say a couple of words. From all of my soul (bottom of my heart equivalent), I want to thank you, dear audience, for helping me with my career while I was participating in Slavic Bazaar. Slavic Bazaar really means a lot to young artists. I want to express huge appreciation to you again, come to Kazakhstan. Thank you very much" Lyrics: Why do I live? Why do I die? Why do I laugh? Why do I cry? Here is the S.O.S. Of an earthling in distress My feet were never on the ground I'd much rather be a bird I don't fit my skin I'd like to see the world upside down What if it's more beautiful As seen from above, above I always seemed to confuse life With some kind of comic strip I'm so eager to get metamorphosed I can feel something Drawing me, drawing me Drawing me way up high At the universe's lottery I didn't get winning numbers I don't fit my skin I don't wanna be a machine All work and no sleep Why do I live? Why do I die? Why do I laugh? Why do I cry? I think I'm picking up Waves from another world My feet were never on the ground I'd much rather be a bird I don't fit my skin I'd like to see the world upside down I'd much rather be a bird Back to sleep, dear child... lyricstranslate.com

I'm so glad you finally decided to react to Dimash. And thank you for doing the song I suggested. This is a great "starter" song into the world of Dimash. His talents are very wide and deep. No one trick pony here!! Anyway, Dimash got his introduction to fame when appearing as a guest contestant on a Chinese singing competition called The Singer in 2017. This song was his first on the show. After the first show he became an overnight sensation. Guards had to be hired to protect him from excited fans. He continued to participate in the competition although he could not win because he was not a Chinese citizen. Each week he continued to wow the crowd and get more famous. He was 22 during this competition and was away from his family for thr first time. I suggest that you follow his progression in the competition and see how he grew each week in confidence and ability. There are many many videos and performances here lately to choose from, but starting with his earlier work is inspiring. Opera 2 is the next performance in the show and it is incredible. You have many paths ahead of you to choose from. No path is a wrong choice. Welcome to the world of Dimash!! I ask you to please do not do any performances from The World's Best...they were bad to Dimash and did him dirty. The producers lied to him about the show. His version of Lionel Richie's HELLO from The Singer 2018 is so incredible...that is also a good choice. The orchestra behind him is gorgeous. There's too much to say...not enough space here to say it. Just enjoy your experience with Dimash and we'll all hitch a ride to your wagon to witness it. Sending you love from Texas!

Dimash is the most complete voice in the history of music, right now you have not seen anything, this is only the tip of the iceberg, if you continue listening you will realize because it is the best and I do not say it I, experts from all over the world say it, there is not nor was there another voice like that of dimash, just to give you an idea, ah sung in 13 languages which adds difficulty due to the phonetics of each language he sings opera, jazz, pop, rock, blues, rap, folk, opera, classic, crossover, he is multi-instrumentalist so far he has been seen playing 7 instruments, he is a composer, arranger, director, dancer His vocal range allows him to sing in all the tessitura, both those of men and women, to cover any of his songs at least three people are involved and in some more and not Anyone would have to gather the best voices from different musical genres, for example: Pavaroti in opera, Freddy Mercuri in rock, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, etc. And as if that is not enough, the young man is humble, simple, charitable, intelligent with a very pure heart and with very solid moral values that today we almost believed to be extinct. He likes that his dears (that's how he baptized his fans) talk a lot about this but I think it's important that more people know about it, he does charitable charities, in most of his concerts he donates big part of his money and in many countries there are people who are making charitable organizations in his honor since he is achieving many positive things with the example of his love, for this reason in the 2020 he was appointed and decorated as an ambassador of peace and friendship, the most incredible thing is that despite the fact that they have offered him multi-million dollar contracts, he has not wanted to sell with anyone so that he does not limit and be able to continue giving us these works of art, the disadvantage is that for this reason there is no television or radio propaganda, all his fame is due 100% to KZbin and its dears that They disinterestedly share his videos, make reports, translations of his songs or rather adaptations, this man is beautiful on the outside but he is more so on the inside that is why he is so dear and respected on his official channel (kzbin.info/door/GBxbj_RMKB22rhJnK9qReg) there are reports and interviews, I invite you to go and find out a little more about all the changes that this young man is making musically in the world, it is a delight to see him express himself with so much love to the world. PS: He is just 27 years old, imagine what he can become in the next 5/10 years, since he still continues to improve (although it seems impossible). Greetings!

In the words of Dimash, "it's not only the range, it's what you do with it". You started with the song which put Dimash on the international radar, so I recommend his latest, 'Stranger' from New Wave 2021. "S.O.S." is a cover but "Stranger" is a song composed by Igor Krutoy (at the piano) for Dimash. Mr Krutoy is a famous Russian producer, composer and musician who came out of retirement to work with Dimash. Their cooperation has so far produced amazing songs. You have no clue what you are about to experience watching more of Dimash. Strap yourself in and enjoy the ride.

Stranger showcases his now much heavier voice and the extension of his vocal range downwards. His higher tones are in head voice rather than the soprano he was able to effortlessly achieve in 2017-2019. The best showcase for his range - and for what he can do with his voce is Sinful Passion. I think it’s a matter of Dimash before and Dimash now.

@@taylorfamilyreactions Dimash is very hard to quantify.. he is in his own universe. He does many genres but really he’s his own genre. It’s genuinely hard for me to say he’s better now & “worse” back then.. he just grows, evolves in every way adding more & more layers. And yes he’s also grown his vocal range, but that interests me the least. It’s more what he does with what he has. And to be completely honest- not sure if you do 10 more reactions you can say you fully understand the range of what he does. Dimash has SO many masterpieces from his work a few years ago until now. Carla recommended those 3 above I think for the same reason I sometimes do- he premiered all 3 in August at the New Wave international competition that he was a juror on. He premiered them on different days in that order- Stranger, Fly Away, & Ave Maria. They couldn’t be more different from each other in every way, & at same time- more different than anything he’d done before. He’s limitless. So seeing the 3 expands your conceptions really quickly of what’s possible & how you never know with him. But you won’t go wrong whatever you choose. Many love to stay with the old stuff for a while, or jump around. Best with Dimash to show up ready to fully feel & engage.. & no expectations beyond that. You can try & prepare but… he’s a unicorn 🦄

@@taylorfamilyreactions his range has extended, his lower range is much richer and fuller. He's constantly learning and evolving and challenging himself. Saludos!

You feel like you stepped into another world, because you did. 😊 Hearing him for the first time is like a revelation, because he opens us up to things we didn't think were humanly possible. I'm very excited for you to just be starting on this journey of discovery. I'm sure other Dears (as he so sweetly calls his fans) will fill you in on his background and which songs you should react to next. I will say that he's as wonderful a human being as he is a vocalist.. humble, simple, charitable, respectful, and kind. I just wanted to congratulate you and say that I totally understand how you feel. I felt the same thing, and I still do, a year after first hearing him.

I have seen many other Dimash concerts live like this. People who traveled for hours to see him. In this concert that presents like many others all, or at least I felt, an electric wave that ran through my body. Something unimaginable that was close to us on a musical level or that could transport us to another dimension. The one to which God manifests himself or the one we think it is, will it be like this? I think yes. Which is by Dimash's voice. If God ever had a voice and gave someone a sound to manifest, it would be through Dimash's voice. I think Dimash's voice has the gift of God to make itself heard. I am not a believer but I started to believe so. There is something that ran through me in the body and that something is divine. Call it what you want, I believe that there may be something in certain beings today that may have that power. A hug, thanks for reacting to Dimash but ... you should hear it live. Greetings from Portugal.

Everything is great, but "Stranger," in English but premiered in Russia, is new and showcases his range. Either the official movie video or the live 3D holographic performance of "Endless Dimensions," also in English, is awe-inspiring. The director of an Italian SyFy movie supposedly googled 'the greatest singer in the world' for the movie theme song and then used 3 singers to present the song to Dimash. I love the beautiful video of 'Screaming,' where Dimash provides his own angelic background vocals. Finally, I really like the Olimpico version of 'Ogni Pietra' in Italian, with more of his deeper range. Oh, well, 'Ikanaide' in Japanese is a Dec 21 live studio performance that is a Master Class for singers. And the list goes on....he raps, too.

Your Dimash journey has just begun. Be prepared for your senses to be overwhelmed for each and every song you watch and hear. Great reaction, that leaves many vocal coaches and professional singers of all genres speechless and awe-struck. Consider yourself a "Dear" (fan). Did you know, Dimash is currently 1st and 2nd with two of his songs on the Billboard in USA?

You have not even begun to scratch the surface of Dimash's talent and ability. You might also want to consider listening to Sinful Passion (Greshnaya Strast), Love is like a Dream, Your Love, Ogni Pietra (Olimpico), Confessa & Diva Dance, Diva Dance (Bastau Concert), Opera 2, Across Endless Dimensions, Ti Amo Cosi (with Lara Fabian and Aida Garifullina), Ulisse (Duet with Aida Garifullina), and Know (both the regular performance as well as the vocalise). Also, his covers from the 2017 "I Am A Singer" competition Lara Fabian's "Adagio", Celine Dion's "All by Myself", and Freddie Mercury's "The Show Must Go On". His "I Am A Singer" 2018 guest performance of Lionel Richie's "Hello" is a must. His traditional and Chinese songs are also amazing: Adai+Daididau, Samal Tau (2020 Tokyo Jazz Festival), Qairan Elim (Holy Land), Elim Menin (My Homeland), Karagym-ai, Daybreak, Autumn Strong. And then there are Without You, Love Of Tired Swans, Where Love Lives, Unforgettable Day, I Miss You, Passione, Give Me Love, Marigold, Golden, Mademoiselle Hyde, Screaming, Tu Vas Me Détruire (duet with Sundet Baigojin), his latest music video “Be With Me”, just to name a few. His latest songs “Fly Away”, "Stranger", and “Ave Maria” just debuted live at New Wave 2021, and the latter two are on a whole new level. There is also the release from the 2021 Tokyo Jazz Festival of “Ikanaide” that is absolutely incredible. He sings in almost flawless Japanese. Just avoid any performance from "The World's Best" show/competition. The producers' conduct was disgraceful and unprofessional, and all performances were cut and edited to make room for commercials.

I agree 100% with Carla, you should definitely react to Stranger and Ave Maria to get a real understanding of his amazing range and incredible breath control !!! One last thought, it doesn't matter what language he sings in, because listening is more important than the lyrics the first time you hear each performance!!! "Stranger" is performed in English .

Because it's everything, it's tenor, baritone, soprano, pop, rock, flute, violin, dolphin, fried vocal, and its interpretation pierces the soul. Dimash is only warming up here, you’ve seen nothing yet. He has a 7/8 octave range, he sings in 15 languages and plays multiple instruments he’s also the loveliest most humble man you could know, he calls us fans his Dears and us Dears are very loyal to Dimash and the reactors that are helping to spread the word around the world. To get a bit of a peek at his capability’s, not all tho you should react to stranger from new wave 2021 a fairly recent one and it’s in English or maybe a one you know from queen, show must go on but his English wasn’t the best, he did a really good job for all he barely spoke it, he’s now fluent but that was 2017 when he was only 22/23 years old

Thank you so much for reacting to my favorite artist. It will be helpful to know the meaning of the song after you get your feel of watching and hearing him perform it again. This is dimashs signature song. He has this connection with the lyrics. He’s about 23 yrs old here and the furthest back I can find him singing it is 15 yrsold. It came from a French rock opera called Starmania. Everybody associated with the song has passed on. The singer was killed in a helicopter crash. Once you do read the words you’ll find the meaning to the words match what Dimash is doing with his voice at that particular time. He says he wants to be like a bird while singing that part is when his voice goes high almost like a whistle. Dimash did not have it easy as a young man amount his peers singing soprano around the other boys. He was/is a child prodigy. He was enrolled at the music academy at the university at 5. Wikipedia’s bio says he was on stage at 2. Won his first piano contest at 5 too. He’s a high fashion model. If you’ve got an hour and want find out about this odd humble person go to wikipedia and read his story. He’s 27 now his song Fly Away is number one on the billboards top 100 songs. Welcome to the “Dears”:Dimash fan club. I only wrote a few things. Dimash has never stopped learning or performing. 2 weeks ago wikipedia said he sang in 12 languages. Last week I went back … he added another language, Japanese. He sang Ikanaide at the Tokyo jazz festival 2021.

This song, in a different performance, was my first introduction to Dimash as well, in summer 2017. He's held my ears captive ever since. This song, performed on a talent competition among professionals invited to perform in China, The Singer or I Am Singer (depending on the translation), was the song that made Dimash an international star. Here's where I'll blow your mind again. He's gotten better and better since then, but the audience reaction on those first shows is amazing. It doesn't matter what nationality is listening, you see the same reaction: eyes bugged out, jaw dropped, goosebumps and chills, and instant fans who can't stay away from watching him try something new.

Welcome to the world of Dimash. I discovered him about 3 years ago and listen and watch him almost every day. It's fun to see new people hear him for the first time. I agree with a previous person who said he's even better now, which is mind boggling but true. I'm sure you'll get a lot of recommendations but I'll give a few suggestions too: Daybreak (Bastau version), Ikanaide which is the first song he's done in Japanese. He did it previously in Mandarin and it is called Autumn Strong, but the Japanese version really shows how he's improved. Kieli Meken is a fun one. Really any performance you choose will be great. If you want to see opera listen to Olimpico or Tu Vas Me Detruire which was a duet done with Sundet Baigoshin. Anyway, great reaction. By the way I prefer the version of Disturbed's Sound of Silence better than the live version. Everyone has their preferences though.
