Opera2 was the second performance of The Singer competition in 2017 in China. The song is in Russian. A language he speaks fluently. The original was from the famous Russian singer named Vitas. The man who raises his fist in the air at the end is Dimash’s father. He came from Kazakhstan to support his son. However, Dimash knew nothing about it when he performed. If you want to know a little more about Dimash, then I suggest you to watch the video where his father was in the audience. However, Dimash knew nothing about it when he performed. It was a big surprise for him as he saw his father. I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. Dimash, like many other Kazakhs, has the tradition of living under one roof with the whole family all together. He lives with his grandparents, parents, a sister, a brother an other relatives in the same house. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language, didn‘t know the traditions or livestyle in this country and up to that point he spoke (almost) no English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 20 so I can imagine…). And after that performance he saw his dad. Indescribably beautiful and emotional. BTW the audience is also the jury. During the Opera 2 performance, he flirted with the audience in a way that wasn’t really his habit at the time (fortunately that has changed in the meantime). And afterwards he said that he was really uncomfortable that his father saw him like that🤭. Luckily he didn’t find out until afterwards because I love it when he’s like that on stage🥰. I love this video because he still seemed so innocent. Just a boy and he didn't seem as serious as he sometimes is these days. He still looked carefree. In some it is important to understand what the song is about. There are a lot of beautiful, sad and awesome songs to discover. I recommend Adagio next. It’s the 6th performance, from The Singer competition and he also plays the piano there. A really beautiful song❤️. A song that Lara Fabian (a Belgian-Canadian singer) has already sung and also written the lyrics for. Dimash has always been a great admirer of Lara. But Dimash takes this song to another level. Every time, I see this performance I forget to breathe and then burst into tears. The emotions that Dimash sends out with this performance literally hit me physically every time🤯. And you can see that I’m not the only one. It speaks for itself that this performance leads to such emotions as that of this woman from the jury and even makes jury members cry. But please try not to stop the video too often. Especially in the end of the song. Otherwise you might lose the flow. I love his outfit with his blue suit and white shoes. If you watch several videos of him, you will see that he often falls on his knees during many of his performances. So a Dear gave him knee pads as a gift. I don’t think he wore them on stage though. Everyone wishes everyone luck. Everyone watches the other’s performance. Clap, sing along. In my opinion, no one begrudges the success of another. They might not have taken Dimash seriously at first, but that quickly changed after SOS. Through ist honest, cheerful and open nature, he found friends very quickly. Contacts that still exist today. Especially to Terry Lin. Just for fun, Terry adopted Dimash and Dimash named him Papa Lin. You may want to see, or even react to videos that were filmed behind the scenes of the competition. They are very interesting if you want to get to know Dimash from a different, more private side. And they’re pretty funny as he doesn’t take himself too seriously and he’s always joking. Dimash never saw him and smiling at the audience his face went blank, he took the stage in 2 bounds, lept off, grabbed him in a bear hug grinning ear to ear and swung him around to the laughter and delight of all ! Yes! This was sung by Vitas, a Russian singer. I didn't knew you started your Dimash journey, he's really out of this world. 👽 "Teenagehood"? Girl i thought you were 19 or something, without the glasses you look even younger. This was at "The Singer" 2017, a Chinese TV show when professional singers were competing, he didn't won but at least he won a couple of rounds to reach the finals, this also got the first version of "SOS d'un terrien en détresse" which made him blew up all over internet. This song was originally by Vitas and Dimash is covering it. He was asked to nor perform it again by Vitas, which has been respected. This performance was the second performance on this show "I am a Singer". His first performance (S.O.S.) he opened the entire competition, mostly unkown by everyone there at the time.

Vitas is the original artist. Dimash's mike technique is impeccable. The original had 1 key change but Dimash put in 3. That pop pop is called Staccato. And yup, he's a great vocalist. If you watch more songs from The Singer, just know if its a cover, the performancers were supposed to change the song. The Singer Show competitors are all famous/established Chinese singers (except that year they asked Dimash to compete).

His Dad, (Kanat) airfisting at the end is my favorite part. Kanat was hiding in the back of the audience as Dimahs did not know his dad had flown over to China. You missed the other best part when they escort Kanat to the front and Dimash sees him. Then when his dad gets up to the front, wraps his arms around him and picks him up and swings him around. Dimash is 6'3" and his dad is probably a head shorter than his much beloved son. Then them interacting as they move back to the green room. Just a priceless interaction.

Yes, this is Vitas song, but only going 3 octaves. When Vitas heard Dimash’s cover, unfortunately, he was so petty to the point that he threatened legal proceedings against Dimash. Dimash graciously acquiesced and therefore, this is the only time anyone can hear Opera 2.

The people in the audience, who are the voters in this competition show, knew this song from when it was a hit for Vitas. Vitas only modulated once, so they were surprised when Dimash kept going higher. There is a longer version of this that shows Dimash meeting his father, who unknown to Dimash was in the audience, and Dimash asking him "Did I sing well ?" . Although you have already seen some of Dimash's later performances, where his voice is more developed, there are still many worth seeing on Singer 2017. For the non-English numbers, it is good to know about Gloria Wu's channel (G Wu). Her videos have Eng. subs and short intros giving the backstories of the songs which are helpful for Episodes 4,7,and 8. She also has interviews, a backstage documentary, and some things Dimash did on Chinese TV, such as "PhantaCity" where he acts.

Dimash wykonał cover piosenki rosyjskiego piosenkarza Vitasa. W dwóch pierwszych motywach najwyższą nutka , tak jak u Vitasa, to C6 . Następnie podniósł tonacje do C#6, potem do D6 i na nutce D6 wykonał staccatto, następnie podniósł na Eb6. Dimash wykonał tą piosenkę tylko 2 razy. Zabroniono mu , bo wykonał ją lepiej niż Vitas. The Singer competition in China is for already established artists in the region and there's been a few invited foreign artists in recent years. The audience who also judge are all in the music industry in some capacity and familiar with artists from the region and knew the song already. So competitors are judged by peers on song adaptation, performance,, song choice, originality etc. So its important to get them on their feet in order to stay in the competition. Do whatever they can to get the judges animated with what they're doing. They were obviously impressed.

My favorite change that Dimash makes to this song is the slide like butter transitions which sound more like wind howling. Vitas generally produces this in a more choppy style. Original artist is Vitas. This is a popular song in Eastern Europe for competition but Dimash went higher than the original. The gentleman in the shadows who fist-pumped at the end is Dimash’s dad who was hidden in the audience without Dimash’s knowledge. Dimash was embarrassed having been so flirty with his dad watching. But, I don’t whether you noticed it, Dimash modulated three times, half a note higher and higher each time, which is why the other contestants were freaking out and the audience was going wild! And you are right: Vitas screeches out a falsetto on the high notes, whereas Dimash produces a beautiful rounded soprano tone.

This performance was in 2017 for the annual Chinese 14 week singing competition show I Am Singer. Dimash was 22 years old at the start of competition and turned 23 years during. This is the only recording you will find of Dimash performing this song because the original Russian Singer Vitas apparently did not appreciate Dimash taking his song two levels higher. He requested that Dimash refrain from performing the song again. Being the man Dimash is, to my knowledge he has honored that request. Ty for ur excellent reaction and for sharing Dimash. Hugs. Mark

I do hope you give the Vitas official video for Opera 2 a shot to compare the skill. Dimash is superior when it comes to technical stuff, like holding a note, and has a larger scale, but Vitas clearly feels what he's singing and is better at showing emotions in his singing. Technical vs emotional singing. "Look what my fine tuned instrument can achieve" vs "cry with me about this story". One of the best studies on the topic in recent years.

No, he didn't go "Wah Wah Wah'! But we know what you mean!🤣 This was a cover of an original ( Russian singer) Vitas song, but Dimash took it 2 levels higher, + the on point staccato + with his solid classical training,{ and massive amount of practice} he doesn't just reach up and hit those notes and then drop off, but 'lives' up there. Solidly on pitch, able to crescendo and decrescendo,and move at will from straight tone to vibrato, and back again. { Vitas, BTW, in very 'poor form' - allegedly - had a major tantrum, and immediately banned Dimash from singing any of his songs, "anywhere, any time"! 'Tis a shame really. Would have been fun to see them together.} 😊

If you had have watched to the end of this specific video, you would have seen that Dimash's Father was in the Audience. He wanted to remain invisible for this song because he didn't want to put more pressure on his Son... You would have also seen what a beautiful and gentle and completely respectful side of Dimash has,... There are also English subtitles on these songs... The wording is beautiful
