Dimash is bringing true art to the world of popular music.. Yes, everything is authentic. The part where he sang differently apparently this is in the Turkic world a kind of song in memory of a person, in this case a previous singer in this group A-Studio passed away some years ago. It's also worth going back to the aftermath of the song when Dimash speaks, thanking the band for their role in educating children in music “in the correct way“.. This man is a serious artist and humanitarian.. He is loved for his character as well as his amazing singing!

"There's not a single note he's not focused on" - exactly. That's his big picture - it includes all the details but there's no need for him to stop for each one... he sees how they relate and what proportions they have. The more I listen to him the more I think his artistry is all about proportion and context. I like your thoughts on authenticity- I think other performers focus on being committed to a performance but Mr. Qudaibergen(ov) committed to the inner reality of the piece, and that integrity allows his talents to bring about the rest of the performance....

The folk singing in the middle was to play homage to the bands former lead singer who passed away.

Thank you! The man standing up in the white shirt is Igor Krutoy. He is a famous Russian composer that came out of retirement to work with Dimash. As to the audience, it seems that Russian audiences do not show much emotion (which I find surprising). I totally agree with you about mainstream music. Dimash is a diamond. I hear that he is coming to America to study, like he did in China. He lived in China for 3 yrs. and he has a great affection for the Chinese and the original 'Dears' (his fans) especially. I know that Dimash is very strong in his beliefs and his musical knowledge, so I hope that the commercial superficiality that is found in western music and media doesn't pressure him too much. I'm not sure where he is going to stay, but I believe it is in California. He has been working on his English and is getting so that he does not need an interpreter. I want America to embrace him and his music and I am hoping that he will become well known and will influence music in the states and hopefully up the quality. I do know that a good number of hip hop artists have discovered him and are changing their thoughts on music through their appreciation of Dimash. (from watching reaction videos to Dimash's work).

Dimash coming to the states not to study. He is already teaching. He has highest degree in music education. He is coming to promote His music. The same thing He was doing in China. Just business. I heard an interesting theory, that seems to hold some truth..what Dimash does in many of his arrangements, is that he uses the ages old and tried story-telling technique of the classic arias.. It starts with a more spoken and soft part, to bring the story, set the mood and draw in the audience, then the next part is more beautifully sung, like a "normal" song, then comes the "cadenza", that is kind of an improvisation where the singer truly shines and it is often felt as a "fake climax" to the song..and then lastly the real climax or resolution which brings catharsis to the audience and resolves the story... He seems to do it in many songs..and it works. It's just like a piece of art.

Hello, I’m from Brazil! For those who like information about Dimas' songs: The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental technique. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band's name is A'Studio (Russian-based Kazakhstani pop music group, "Alma-Ata Studio", city of Almaty). The dead singer left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, who is the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.

He does more of the Arabic style on the second half of his rendition of Lionel Ritchie’s song Hello, which Dimash sings when he was invited back to I Am Singer in 2018 as a guest. It is amazing. (The last note here was 23 seconds.). The man standing up at the end, wearing a white shirt is Igor Krutoy, a famous Russian billionaire composer and he came out of semi retirement after he hears Dimash here. Dimash then works with him, sings several of the songs Igor already has but Igor composes various songs purely for Dimash’s skills. One is Olympico Ogni Pietra in It

It isn't Arabic. I've lived in the Middle East for a long time. It is easy to confuse it though. It is more Turkic in nature. The ornamentation at the end of Know in Kiev has a more Tunisian sound even though I suspectthis is also from somewhere in Eurasia. He draws from his roots, or the roots or Eurasia.

Mr. Kudaibergen use his own "Turkic Melismas." This is not middle-eastern style. He used "khoomei" singing technique in "Sinfull passion". You can hear it from the all Turan group. Tuvan throat singing (Khoomei,xöömei in Tuvan) is one particular variant of overtone singing practiced by people in Turkic Tribes (one of them Tuva), Mongolia, Inner Mongolia and Siberia. Consequently, the source of "riffs and runs" is from his own culture. Dimash use the more modern version (for the last millennium) of these kind of Turkic vocal techniques named "makams" in "Know" and ""Hello". Mid-east countries were under the dominition of Ottoman Empire more than 400 years.Music was a one of the "Big Sins" to arabs for long centuries. They were learned little bit this kind of styles from Turks. arabs are just imitators. Why will we imitate the imitators? Turks are not from the middle east and Turkic blood is not middle eastern and not mixed. All Muslims are neither arab nor irani. Not similar culture ever. Also geographically, Any Turkic country is not in the middle east. Middle east is technically, south of Mediterranean between north of Sub-saharan.
@JustMyOpinion10103 жыл бұрын
@@lilatomrissoze6237 what you said is all correct. The technique he uses is indeed Turkic in origin but used in Tajik music too. I think your comments about Arabic people are made in a disrespectful way. No music under the sun is new. Since the stone ages music has spread from one area to another, and they have added their own twist to it. In a similar fashion the Turks got their music from a previous empire, and they from another tribe(s). So please be respectful towards all nations and peoples in comments.

@@JustMyOpinion1010 An epitome: Pizza is an İtalian food. Everyone knows it. There are a lot of pizza shops in the world. Of course, in China too. İtaly is do not forbidden this. But China cannot say "pizza is mine!" Though, if China made pizza for 400 years? Can they deserve to say ""pizza is mine!"? And İtalians deserve to say always "pizza's source was me". Also, evolution is at work here; not many people realize this, but Turks are one of the very few ancient identities and cultures that instinctively value independent individual critique of the world's peoples and cultures. We cannot be racists as a human being oldest civilisations members. Prophets couldn't fixed some peoples and we cannot ever. I didn't want broke the someones' little hearts. What I love most about Dimash (besides the obvious, his voice and stage presence) is his integrity. Dimash does not change to fit into the music industry but hopefully the music industry one day will change and adapt to find room for him. Not only has he found his own way in music, he sings the things he wants to sing the way he wants it, not restricted by genres, languages or style, he also has proved that you don't need to get a record deal, be played on radio and top10 lists to be successfull, his career is mostly based on live performances and through social media, he doesn't need mainstream media or manistreem songs to have fans and be heard. Ofcourse I wish him a larger fanbase, to be recognized my the music industry and media but that's because he deserves it, not because he needs it. Thank you for seeing and hearing Dimash from your artistic point of view, it's always interesting.

I respect your understanding of economics. Most Americans are too ignorant to grasp the concept. Much respect. As for your reaction, as always you bring education, intelligence, and a brand new perspective and understanding to it. You have moved to the top of my list of reactors. You are wise beyond your years, as well. The band A-Studio is originally from Kazakhstan. The keyboard player, Baigali Serkebaev, composed the song together with the poet Ilia Reznik, and the song was first performed in 1998. The singer of the group A-Studio passed away in 2015, and in this concert, the group was backing up guest vocalists. The triangle man is multi-percussionist Ilya Pokrovsky, a very talented man and a close friend of Dimash and member of the Dimash team (DQ Team). He plays various percussion instruments and accompanies Dimash in all his concerts. Someone explained that the special tribal riff is something practiced in Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and other parts of Asia. A similar technique is also used in some parts of the Middle East. It is referred to by some as a "glottal stop". We use it too when we say "uh oh". A Kazakh KZbinr commented that Dimash used a Kazakh singing technique, called 'komeymen aytu'. You can hear it among the Turan Group. Sakha people use this technique too; they call it 'kylyhah'. I read somewhere that the tribal vocalization was a tribute to the deceased singer, as it is similar to a technique usually used by women in Kazakh funeral ceremonies. This concert was organized by the man in the white shirt who stood up in the first row, Billionaire Igor Krutoy, a famous Ukrainian and Russian music composer, performer, producer, and musical promoter. It was this performance that prompted him to come out of retirement and compose masterpieces for Dimash to sing, such as I Miss You, Ogni Pietra, Your Love, just to name a few. Since this concert, he has been collaborating with Dimash, writing music with his vocal range in mind, and often accompanying him on the piano. So you'll see more of him. It must be very satisfying for him to sit down and compose music without constraints (limitations by ordinary singers). High notes, low notes, whatever his genius mind can conceive, Dimash will achieve.

If you really want to hear music and culture together, listen to some of his songs in Kazakh; they are beautiful. and full of atmosphere. For example Samaltau, Daididau, Qairam Elim and so on. I love your reactions. Keep it up. Have a nice day 💖

Yes!!! I think my taste in music has changed since discovering Dimash. I also love his Kazakh songs. Other singers just don't seem to be that good anymore. I am much more critical now when listening to someone who is not as smooth.....sorry, can't help it!

I agree with you about popular music nowadays. Every once in a while you’ll hear something different but most of it is the same. That’s why I’m so glad I found Dimash and a few others like Diana Ankudinova, Faouzia etc.

Since you know so much about colors, you will enjoy listening to Dimash singing Passione. My 85 year old sister would love for you to react to it sometime. You are a most talented young man.

Great, thanks a lot for your reactions. I waited always Chinese reaction for the Chinese songs, but the reactions to the other songs are also sincere and interesting! Dimash is best of the World because of him I interested for Chinese programs and I know now a lot of multitalented people also in China.

you may be interested to know that the band and the guy at the piano wrote and performed this song about 10 years ago. When Dimash decided to do this song, he asked the original band if they wanted to participate with Dimash. Also, the original singẻ had died and so they and Dimash dedicated this performance in his memory...Remember to go to Gloria Wu's channel for all things Dimash.

This is how they normally respond. But they do lots of flowers. Supernatural is right. His songs are definitely not in the box or in the mould. They are fresh, authentic and original in sound. Thanks for your genuine reaction. Would love to see you do a portrait of Dimash.

Dear Victor, thank you for your thorough analysis of Dimash’s art. Your genuine reaction and serious approach shows a lot of respect to Dimash’s work and is highly appreciated. I am sure your thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated by many. I am especially grateful for your analysis of, let’s call it, ‘Late Autumn’ and ‘Daybreak’. With your explanation of a true meaning of the lyrics of these song we, who does not understand Chinese, were able to feel the emotions and deep feelings of these stories. So, many thanks for what you are doing, please continue to provide your observations as I personally will be looking forward for many to come. Wishing you all the best!

I have enjoyed your reaction/analysis of Dimash's performances since your first one. Your visual approach is very interesting and edifying. You asked, "How does he always sound so smooth?" I will tell you that the way he sings comes from many years and hours of learning and practicing. Over 20 years now even though he is only 26. He began very early in life. Like you learned to be the artist you have become. Dimash considers himself to be an artist who paints with his voice and stage performance. He has mastered many of the vocal techniques he uses through hard work and focus, and he says that he must continue to learn his craft. You are a wonderful artist, and I believe you connect with Dimash on that artistic level.

You covered a lot of ground in this video. I enjoyed all of your remarks, but especially your observations about stagecraft and lighting - subjects about which you have thought more deeply than I, by far. I gather than in Russia, audiences generally are not demonstrative; they are quite reserved. Did you recognize the balding gentleman who did stand? That's the composer Igor Krutoy, who would go on to collaborate with Dimash on a number of songs, including 'Love Is Like a Dream,' which you reviewed. Dimash does get standing ovations elsewhere, as well he should. Manufactured pop rarely draws my attention; it's too formulaic and it generally relies, not so much on vocal virtuosity, but studio-applied audio effects. It's usually constant-energy from start to finish, with virtually no silences. Dimash uses dynamic variations in a way not often found in manufactured pop, and he is quite willing to indulge in silences to enhance the drama of his performances. But occasionally, pop does innovate. Occasionally, it surprises me. Those are its best moments. I recall being surprised and delighted by the Black-Eyed Peas song 'Pump It.' Quite original and even exciting. Just an example, there are others which somehow break out of the formula and deliver a fresh musical experience. Dimash's use of dynamic variation isn't much emulated in pop, as of yet, but I think he's pointing the way towards a much richer popular music world, one which breaks free of conventions and treats us to musical sounds we've never before heard. Pop is arguably in a bit of a rut. I was around when it was in a similar rut - early rock (50's) often conformed to the same chord progressions, and it was thought to be odd if those chord progressions were disobeyed. The 60's saw rock break free and explore fresh dimensions in music, and it was glorious. I think something similar may happen in the near future to contemporary pop music, and it will not surprise me to learn that Dimash will be a major force in making it happen. Another very fine artist - one whom Dimash has admired since he was a child, I'm told - is Lara Fabian (who also has a connection to Igor Krutoy). Dimash covered her song 'Adagio,' one of my favorites from the Singer 2017 TV show. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5LUY2eFndB1iKc My favorite Fabian song is 'Je Suis Malade,' it's an incredible work. Fabian uses dynamic variation very well, defying convention and delivering a gut-wrenching performance that cannot be forgotten. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mofZnaCmpJqab80 Western pop radio has ignored Fabian, and Dimash, too - they break too many pop conventions to please radio executives. But those conventions *must* be broken. The future cannot be the past.

I just love your thoughtful Dimash reactions. Usually watch a few times at least to catch all the nuances you bring. And yes, the stimulus is just the average tax paying citizen going into THEIR reserve account, just like a business. Nobody is giving us anything that's not ours already. Enjoying and learning from your art as well, handsome one.

Hello Victor, nice to see you again. Thank you for another insightful reaction and analysis of Dimash's interpretation of this song. If you watched this video to the end, you would see that most of the audience standing up applauded to Dimash. The bald man in the front row is the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy, who invited Dimash as a guest of honor to this event (the annual international song festival "New Wave"). At that time, they had not yet collaborated, but later they created a delightful musical tandem, which gave birth to several real musical masterpieces. The famous Russian singer Ani Lorak applauded next to Igor Krutoy. The two sitting ladies you mentioned are the wife and sister of Igor Krutoy. I do not know why they did not rise. Perhaps this is a certain celebrity snobbery. However, Igor Krutoy stood and paid tribute to Dimash's talent.
