He has come out of retirement to work with Dimash. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. This song and this performance is my absolute favourite🥰. Dimash chose to stay an independent artist. He refused to sign with a big music company in order to stay free to do and sing what he wants. He only works with people who gives him freedom. So he doesn’t have the big money, promotion, radio plays and the things that makes some mainstream artists well known all over the world. Also those artists are usually from the US market cause it has the biggest money but it’s in fact a very very small part of what’s going on in the world.

Very small part, true, but people in China, Philippines, Japan, Kazakhstan are singing songs in English by US singers. Even so, Dimash has good reasons for not signing. He is working with someone now. What's next?! More good things are coming!

In music, what goes "mainstream" is controlled by the industry. Have no qualms, the music industry knows Dimash is a gold mine but Dimash has decided to go his own way, not wanting to be pinned down into a single genre or giving up control of his artistic goals. Dimash's fans come from all over the world, cultures, languages, ages, preferred musical genres and that is because he simply does it all with perfection. He has been a HUGE celebrity in China since 2017 and is well known in Russia and Eastern Europe. He speaks 2 languages fluently, Kazakh, Russian, is getting much better in English and Mandarin but he sings in 13 languages if not more by now. With time, you will learn about his amazing background, his achievements, his human nature. Thankfully for us, Dimash is a consummate musician, singer and performer. May he live long!

I don't think it's so much that Di chooses to go his own way, as it is that his team just doesn't seem to be able to get him onto platforms that mainstream audiences actually see. I don't think this is the mainstream industry gatekeeping him or anything like that- whoever is responsible for securing opportunities for him just doesn't seem to know how to market him, or what a mainstream audience even is. The Presidential inauguration gala, MTV Friday livestream, and Tedx Gateway are close, but missing the mark. Landing him a performance for the actual inauguration, getting him on normal Tedx, or getting him on the MTV people actually watch all would have helped him much more. Getting him on a morning or late night talk show, or as a guest performer on something like American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, etc. would help get average people aware of his existence- because these are things average people actually watch. As it is, he isn't being presented to a mainstream audience. China seemed to be marketing him pretty well post-Singer. Everywhere else in the world it kind of feels like Dears are doing all the work to promote him.

@@youlleatamuffinandlikeit4596 Interesting point of view but that is not how the music industry works...And based on your arguments, if Dimash is not part of the "American" music industry, then he is not mainstream, as if the only music industry that counts is the American one which is not the case. Dimash IS mainstream in China and their population is 4 times greater than the U.S. Under an American record label, Dimash would not be allowed to sing in multiple languages as he does already, and certainly not in Kazakh, simply because "mainstream" America has no taste for anything or anyone who does not speak or sing in English. Dimash was already the main star on America's world talent but the industry lied to him about the participants, assuring him he would not be competing against children, which goes against his values. When he found out he had been lied to, he quit the show and turned his back on a lucrative contract with the American music industry. Thank goodness, America is not the beginning and end of it all in music and never has been. There are plenty other markets where Dimash is already flourishing.

Yes, he is the best in the world. Dimash does what he feels is the right thing to do. In other words he does not compromise his beliefs or music for an industry contract. He participated in a contest here in the USA called the World's Best. The prize was 1 million. He was told he would not compete against children which in his culture is a huge no as they respect the elders and encourage children. Near the end when it was sure he would walk away as you can imagine with 1 million, they pitted him against not one but two children! One of which he knew and had supported from his home country. He withdrew from the contest to allow the two children to move forward. The judges were so extremely rude, embarrassingly so but he stood on stage with his head held high and did not budge from his position and did it very respectfully. He has a lot of class but his stance on no compromise may mean he will not ever sign a contract with American music companies and looking at what the produce I would completely understand why he would not. Please do Dimash , Sinful Passion or Ikanaide. One in Russian with subs, one in Japanese. Ikanaide was done with him just standing in a studio. Performed during covid for the Tokyo Jazz Festival. It is stunning.

Thank you for reacting to Dimash. I have so much fun watching your reaction. Dimash doesn't sing mainstream. He's a completely independent artist who doesn't sell himself on any record label. He doesn't want to be dictated to when he has to sing what, how and when. The instrument you mentioned is called kobyz. It’s spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobys in Dimash’s performance is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter and at the stage performance in Stranger. Samaltau is about a young Kazakh who was forcibly recruited by Russia in 1916. He was forced to leave his home country and his elderly parents to go to war (WWI) and does not know what awaits him there as a soldier or how his elderly parents are to manage without him. The best version in my opinion is from the Tokyo Jazz Festival. It’s pure emotion. Dimash is naturally talented but he has worked very hard to achieve that range and breath control. He started music school at 5 yrs old and he is still working with voice coaches at 28. He is always trying to learn new things and better himself. 🙂

Yup- thats dimash for you :) So to your list of 'all the scale' and 'being able to change his voice at will' yu have to add 'incredible breath controll' :) He can also sing with lots of feeling and different colours and lots of types of ornimentation etc. Even if you dont like the type of music he does- only a fool wouldnt acknowledge he HAS to be one of the best singers on earth- if not THE best. I think a few of the worlds top opera singers can perform better at that one particular thing- opera in a specfic narrow range- maybe.. But Dimash can do 20x as much.

Kinda sorta. The only languages he speaks fluently are Kazakh and Russian. English is the only other language he speaks at all, though he has made great improvement. He went from barely being able to say anything more than "hello" in 2018, to being able to speak very good English in New York the very next year. Fast forward to this year and he did excellently in the DLD interview.

Thanks for the reaction. I would suggest you to subscribe to Dimash YT channel and pick any song at random and you will be surprised as you were with this performance. Until you hear at least ten of his songs, you cannot fully understand the fullness of his talent. Any song I would suggest to you will only have a fraction of what he can do, so I can only suggest that you go and listen to everything you find. Trust me, you will never be disappointed and every time you will experience something new and surprising. As for his latest video, which is entirely his work, means the songwriting, the story and the acting, I suggest you save it for later. There is a lot of symbolism and deep meaning in this video of what he actually wants to tell to the world, and it's much better to understand when you get to know Dimash a little more, both as a singer and as a person. Om man ska välja en låt blir svårt. Det finns nog ingen som är dålig. Men det finns dom som man inte skulle kanske lyssna på lika ofta. Kanske lite på vilket humör man är på. Men The story of one sky är ett måste. Ett arbete på tre år som dimash har jobbat med plus 300-400 andra. Och ämnet har lyfter i den musik video/sång är 13.41 min lång och väldigt dagsaktuell till hur det ser ut i världen. En minifilm kan man också kalla den.

Dimash is not a mainstream artist and he is not confined to any genre. He is also born with a perfect pitch and undergone vocal training since 5 years old. Welcome to the world of Dimash! I believe you are fast becoming a "dear." That is what his fan base is called, because his fans are dear to him. Great reaction. We've all thought the same thing when we first heard Dimash (Why haven't I heard of this guy before). He truly is a generational talent. Sinful Passion, Adagio, Olympico, Show Must Go On, Ave Maria, Ikanaide would all be good songs for you to react to next. What not to react to: You're going to see a lot of people asking you to react to Dimash's new song "The Story of One Sky". DO NOT react to that one yet. It's deep and emotional. Listen to his other songs first, get to know what he's capable of and when you do finally get to "The Story of One Sky" it will make you appreciate what Dimash does in that song much more. Dimash er unik på mange måter, han fortjener absolutt et større publikum men som en uavhengig artist fra Kazakhstan er det vanskeligere å nå ut til massene enn det er for en mainstream artist fra vesten med et stort plateselskap i ryggen. Dimash har ikke bare en fantastisk stemme men har er også en artist som tør gå sine egne veier. Min siste Dimash konsert var i Almaty, Kazakhstan, en 4 timers stadionkonsert der vi fikk 31 låter: pop, rap, folkemusikk, opera, instrumental og til og med litt rock. Han sang Stranger, SOS og 4 nye låter inkludert hans nyeste mesterverk The Story of One Sky (jeg hadde nok valgt å gjøre meg litt bedre kjent med resten av hans katalog før TSOOS da den er ganske "heavy"). Jeg håper og tror Dimash vil bli bedre kjent i vesten etterhvert som vi deler han med folk rundt oss. Neste Dimash event er TEDxGatewaySalon i Mumbai, India fredag 18. november 2022 der Dimash er en av bidragsyterne. Couldn’t agree more! Yes, the best voice on the planet. Yes, the best singer on the planet. Yes, yes, yes, the best to everyone and everything out there. If you listen carefully to his songs, the meanings, the lyrics, the harmony, the best songs out there, too. Dimash is not looking for money or fame like all the other singers (or at least most of them), he is the best of the best and gives them all class and style. Listening to Stranger is in and of itself a musical journey where we’re accompanying Dimash through this “stranger’s land” with each and every vocal technique and singing style which denotes a different culture and path in life. Dimash does not use his vocal abilities to show off, but to serve the song: through his voice, he’s telling us a story; like in his latest masterpiece that he composed himself, “The Story of One Sky” (we are divided into different countries, races and faiths, but we all share the same sky: this song is a cry for peace and unity). Dimash has a vocal range of over 6 octaves, which is quite impressive; but that’s not what defines him. He sounds exquisite at any range, which is incredible in and of itself. Besides, his voice has so many colors and tone to it, not mentioning his vocal dynamics. His voice is soaring only to express his intense emotions, whether it’s a cry for help, a yearning, or to express pain or loss.
