Dimitri, I don't know if I can explain my emotions to you... you deserve many followers because your dedication, study and work deserve so much. but unfortunately I also understand that for most people the passion for tropical home gardens is not so appreciated. sometimes people who don't deserve are rewarded, I don't know if you understand what I mean. Hallo Dimi , wir haben gerade euer Video angeschaut . Euer Garten ist beeindruckend und wunder schön . Wir haben vor 4 Jahren unseren Garten komplett umgestaltet mit vielen mediteranen Pflanzen. Mittlerweile haben wir etwa 20 Palmen , Musa Basjoo, Palmfarne , Yucca Rostrata , viele Zitruspflanzen und vieles mehr . Für die Palmen , da sie im Moment noch nicht zu gross sind hat mein Mann Häuser gebaut für den Winter . Damit haben wir sehr gute Erfahrung gemacht . Was macht ihr ,das Eure Palmen nach dem Winter , mit so vielen Blattschäden sich so schnell wieder erholen über das Jahr ? Welchen Dünger nehmt ihr ? Es ist ja der Wahnsinn . Hallo Andrea, vielen Dank für die nette Antwort und die vielen Komplimente. Die meisten Palmen in meinem Garten stehen seit mehr als 10 Jahren im Freiland. Es sind also sehr gesunde und starke Palmen. Das hilft schon sehr bei der schnellen Genesung. Außerdem ist mein Garten etwas eingezäunt, sodass es bei Sonnenschein schnell sehr warm wird. An heißen Tagen gebe ich ausreichend Wasser und manchmal gebe ich etwas organischen Mineraldünger von DCM. Also nichts Besonderes. Das Wichtigste ist, im Winter für einen sehr guten Schutz zu sorgen. Ich habe auch Handflächen, die sich nicht sehr gut erholt haben, sogar eine tote, aber das sieht man im Video natürlich nicht 😇 Liebe Grüße und viel Glück 👍

Merci beaucoup Anton. 🙏😊 J'ai plusieurs Sabal minor, également 1 Sabal palmetto et 1 Sabal mexicana. À l’exception de S. palmetto, ils restent tous sans protection. S. palmetto reçoit une box. Les Sabal poussent lentement, mais avec suffisamment de chaleur, ils poussent rapidement. Placez-le donc le plus chaud possible, contre un mur sud par exemple. Donnez également beaucoup d'eau pendant la saison de croissance. Bonne chance 👍

Thank you very much David. 😊 Yes, a garden like that takes years, but that's the fun of it, creating it...😉 On my KZbin here you will also find several videos about my winter protection, be sure to check them out. Every year I build a box around the palms so that they are always dry and sheltered. If it freezes, I close them completely and if necessary, I also heat them in the box. This of course varies from species to species... The Dicksonias remain constantly unprotected when it is NOT freezing. The wetness and lots of rain in winter is just ideal for them. They should never dry out. If frost comes, they are temporarily well wrapped. Place a thick wad of fleece cloth in the head, tie up the leaves, then wrap the whole thing with fleece cloths and then with large bubble wrap. The more the better. From -7°C additional heating is also required. I do this with a heating cable. Good luck 🤜

Salut. Plus je regarde les vidéos et les photos de ton jardin, plus il me plaît, car il est cohérent, orienté sur les palmiers. Tu protèges le phoenix canariensis, et les autres? Lesquels se passent de protection depuis des années. Ici, je dois protéger même les trachycarpus, sans parler d'autres espèces, ce qui me limite énormément. / Je connais les jardins des Fous de palmiers en France, je regarde les vidéos des Britanniques, mais il est rare de voir autant d'espèces de palmiers dans un petit jardin.

Bonjour, merci beaucoup, je suis heureux d'entendre cela. Les palmiers sont en effet mon premier amour. Je protège certainement le Phénix et bien d’autres palmiers sensibles de mon jardin. Je fais cela depuis des années en construisant une protection hivernale dessus. Sur mon KZbin, vous trouverez ici d'autres vidéos sur ma protection hivernale. Je construis également actuellement la nouvelle construction du Phoenix pour l'hiver prochain. Ceci est filmé du début à la fin pour une nouvelle vidéo qui sera bientôt en ligne. Alors soyez patient, car c'est tout un travail. Désolé d'apprendre que vous vivez moins favorablement et que vous devez même protéger Trachycarpus. Dag Dimi, ik ben verwonderd om te zien dat de boomvarens er totaal onbeschermd bijstaan met sneeuw bedekt, levend door de winter raken lukt hier alleen met extreem veel isolatie. Ik zie ook verderpalmen zonder bescherming ondergesneeuwd , welke zijn dat en hebben die de winter overleefd ? Felicitaties met je prestatie dit jaar.

Die sneeuw foto's zijn gemaakt op 08 Maart 2023, de winter was bijna voorbij maar toen was er terug een dipje met even wat sneeuw in de ochtend. De temperaturen bleven toen wel net positief, dus het was eigenlijk niet zo erg. De foto's zijn smorgens gemaakt, maar smiddags was alle sneeuw alweer terug gesmolten. Het is dus meer voor het drama effect 😉 Echter blijft sneeuw voor de boomvarens natuurlijk niet goed. De nieuwe rollen die toen al klaar zaten werden afgedekt met een dikke prop vliesdoek in de koppen van de boomvarens. Die zie je niet omdat die onder de sneeuw zitten... Het was dus maar voor even. Toch had ik wel bij de kleinste wat schade opgelopen hoor. Ondanks de lichte bescherming waren de klaarzittende rollen toch afgestorven, het herstelde wel door nieuwe rollen later in het jaar... Ik had ze dus toen toch iets meer moeten beschermen. De boomvarens blijven hier steeds volledig onbeschermd zolang er GEEN vorst is. Het vochtig weer tijdens de winter is net ideaal voor de boomvarens daarom. Als er vorst komt dan worden ze steeds tijdelijk ingepakt. Te zien in mijn andere video's omtrent mijn winterbescherming... Het is vooral belangrijk om je boomvarens constant goed vochtig te houden tijdens het groeiseizoen, ze mogen nooit uitdrogen. Dus dagelijks water geven in de kop en de stam nat maken. Ook af en toe een beetje voeding geven voor zuurminnende planten. Boomvarens houden van zure grond, dus veel houtschors en turf in de bodem verwerken 👍 Voor de vederpalm hetzelfde verhaal, sneeuw was niet zo erg. Het is de Jubaea chilensis die je ziet. Dat is de meest vorstbestendigste vederpalm die er is en kan in gezonde & volwassen toestand nog redelijk veel droge vorst verdragen. Dus het was ook een berekent risico. De sneeuw heeft geen schade veroorzaakt. Dank je voor de complimenten 😊👍 Groeten Dimi

​@@Dimi.Exotic.Gardenhier was vorige winter mijn Jubaea afgestorven na de winter ondanks passieve bescherming (big bag), jammer want het was al een redelijk exemplaar . Ik denk er over om de stam te laten zitten en de uitgedroogde bladeren met een spuitbus groen te verven 😅

Are large Jubae as hardy as Trachycarpus? Will they become as hardy 🤔 when they become larger?

Jubaea is the most frost-resistant feather palm, but is certainly not comparable to Trachycarpus (fortunei). So no, Jubaea is not as hardy as Trachycarpus. But yes, like any palm tree, the Jubaea gets a little stronger as it grows bigger. This is simply because the palm heart, which is the most important & vulnerable part of the palm, is larger (stronger) and surrounded by more & thicker trunk. So it may be more difficult for the frost to reach it.

Bonjour ! Quel est le nom du cactus vu à 8:42 ? Un echinopsis ou trichocereus terscheckii ? Cette année j'essaie en pleine terre deux agaves, une americana et une montana que je protègerai de la pluie avec des bacs rectangulaires de rangement en plastique transparent dont j'aurai préalablement scié en partie les 2 grands côtés afin que l'air circule. On verra ! Cette année, j'ai malheureusement perdu une petite dicksonia antarctica et un petit tetrapanax rex. Hartelijk bedankt !

Salut Philippe, ce cactus à 8:42 est un 'Ferocactus stainessie' (cactus rouge), qui se trouve sous le Trithrinax campestris (palmier). J'ai aussi un 'Echinopsis pasacana' sous le grand Brahea armata (palmier) Vous pouvez le voir à 12:17, en bas au centre... Ces agaves devraient certainement fonctionner si vous les gardez au sec.👍 Désolé d'apprendre vos pertes.

Bonjour Olivier, Oui, je protège absolument le Brahea armata. Le plus important est qu’il reste au sec. L'humidité est le plus gros problème de ce palmier. Comme la plupart des palmiers de mon jardin, je construis une cage sur le Brahea armata. De cette façon, il est toujours sec et abrité. En cas de gel sévère la cage sera fermée, et à partir de -8°C la cage sera chauffée. Mes spécimens sont bien sûr déjà assez gros et sont enracinés depuis de nombreuses années, ils sont donc déjà habitués à quelque chose. Avec des petites armatas je commencerais à chauffer bien plus tôt...

Ils sont superbes! Les témoignages sur la culture des palmiers (autres que les Trachy) dans nos régions sont assez rares, tes conseils sont donc très précieux! Est-ce que tu pense qu'un câble chauffant peut suffire en cas de gel, en plus de la cage? Et est-ce que ce câble peut être en contact direct avec la plante, car il ne chauffe pas tellement, je sais le tenir en main, la chaleur est légère... Merci

@@olivierdumont7921 Bonjour Olivier, J'aime partager mes connaissances et mon expérience, donc pas de problème.😊 Un câble chauffant qui ne chauffe que localement, donc uniquement là où il touche. C'est possible avec un câble chauffant, mais cela devient difficile en cas de gel sévère et extrême. Pour un petit palmier, un câble chauffant fera également l'affaire... Le câble peut toucher le tronc du palmier, ce n'est pas un problème. Si le câble ne chauffe pas trop, il peut également toucher les feuilles. Il est très important que les enroulements ne soient pas trop rapprochés. Et il est également important que les enroulements restent fermement attachés et ne puissent certainement pas s'effondrer les uns contre les autres. Je vous recommande également de regarder ma vidéo spécifiquement sur ma protection hivernale. Beaucoup de choses y sont montrées et expliquées, et la protection du Brahea armata y est également clairement visible. Ich hab gesehen dass du eine ensete maureli hast.eine wunderschöne Banane.In einem Video hab ich gesehen dass du Styropor im Boden verwendest. Wie schütz du die im Winter? Und auch deine cycas revoluta? Ich habe eine cycas bei ebay sehr günstig erworben und überlege sie auszupflanzen.

​@@michaelmeyhoefer9916Hallo Michael, Eigentlich hatte ich früher die Ensete ventricosum maurellii, in den letzten Jahren aber aus Platzgründen nicht mehr. Die Maurellii wurden immer ausgegraben und an einem kühlen Ort im Haus überwintert. Das Styropor im Boden war eine Idee, die ich schon in meinen frühen Jahren umgesetzt habe. Es sollte den Frost von den Wurzeln im Boden fernhalten. Meine größte Cycas ist mit einer Kiste drumherum geschützt, die anderen sind gut mit vielen Tüchern umwickelt. Bei starkem Frost ist für die Cycas eine Heizung erforderlich.
