In trying to apply pentatonic vocabulary to diminished scales, I tend to think in terms of hexatonic scales derived by taking three characteristic notes of a pentatonic scale (eg D,F,G) and copying them up a Tritone (Ab, Cb, Db) (one of the pentatonics you derive is the same as this scale but without the B/Cb). Do you see a particular advantage in thinking in terms of these specific five-note subsets that break the symmetry of the diminished scale?

In general, when I break down any form of symmetry, I'm able to better utilize it. The primary issue with a symmetrical scale for me personally is that, the "shape" of it very strongly dictates how we use it, i.e the scale plays you haha. Your approach sure works, but you can explore breaking it down further. Hope that makes sense!
