Some feed back for content: I've watched several videos recently and I noticed a pattern where you both communicate what cards you have in your hand and then you both play around that card even though you shouldn't know your opponents has it which creates unrealistic games. Love the videos, you guys are filling a good gap that Corey and Ross left behind.

Could be, we play a ton of different decks so part of the reason we do that is to help each other with optimal plays. That said when the card gets mentioned we will play around it most of the time since the mentioned card tends to be something you should play around anyway. I see you caught the leyline / harbinger interaction later in the vid, I wish Max fetched for a basic as it was just a 1 damage ping, haha. But yeah I guess scion has vigilance too, but wasn't too relevant.

Re: Leyline/Harbinger when Leyline was on the battlefield first. The basics will be all types and can tap for anything; the nonbasics will be Islands. Now if it was a Chromatic Lantern, it wouldn't matter when Harbinger entered.

@@neonmushroom6763 Fucking layers and timestamps get you every time. And the idea of state-based actions, which aren't checked during the resolution of a spell (had to school someone about that on Saturday).

when you set the subtype of a land such as with Harbinger it will remove all the other land subtypes (not other subtypes it may have, such as saga). That means that if the harbinger applies after the leyline, it will remove all the land subtypes (aka the basic land types) that are not island from it. If Harbinger applies first, it will set them to islands, then the leyline grants them additional subtypes of the other basics. They are both type changing effects and thus operate in the same layer, which means the order the apply in is based on time stamps. Bonus fun fact, if you turn leyline of the guildpact into a land somehow things do get a bit funky,. but that is something for another time.

Zoo yippie, just came home from a couple RCQ's over the weekend and played Zoo both times, managed to get 9th and 9th, and yeah, as a zoo player, if you have leyline out and you're playing against a deck you think might play either blood moon or harbinger, always just fetch for a basic to play around it (preferably the basic that deals with the opposing stuff, i.e. Mountain for harbinger to be able to cast Bolt/Tribal Flame, and Plains for blood moon cause wear//tear and you already get red), also with Leyline of the Guildpact, Scion also gets all the keywords, So scion will be a 4/4 with Flying, First Strike, Vigilance (which was forgotten Game 3), Lifelink, Trample, Hexproof. Hoping to see more Zoo in the future, hopefully when Max has a bit more practice with the deck. And yes can confirm Leyline and Blood Moon/Harbinger is a timestamp thing.

I feel like this oculus deck really wants snapcaster mage. The cantrip package that the oculus wants to use also benefits snapcaster. Snapping back an unearth to also put a oculus into play would be really good.

The person on zoo made a mistake in playing. His scion had vigilance due to leyline and could of attacked and blocked each combat step. He also attacked once with scion and tapped it even though it did have vigilance. It also had first strike so he could of blocked the way he wanted to when you attacked with the 2/2 manifest creature and would of still had the full 4 toughness and didn't have to worry about it dieing and would of also gained 4 life. He could of drawn the game out longer giving him a chance to draw removal/damage spells to clear your board on game 3. Also to answer your question about harbinger...if he starts with leyline before game and you play harbinger your effect blankets they leyline. In response he can fetch for a basic land and that basic land would be ALL land types because harbinger does not affect basic lands and leyline does.

Great catches, I did notice the Draco dilemma when editing and with the eye on play we would have been stuck staring at each other, def would have added some turns to the game for max to draw out of that spot. And yes he should have fetched on an earlier turn for sure, unfortunately it was tapped when the harbinger was played

10:40 grabs graveyard to exile 3 cards, singles them out, puts them back into graveyard with the discarded card. I think you were a little too excited to fly your frog for the beatdown. Also with the oculus forgetting to exile 6 earlier. Better not do that in your next RCQ. :P
