Yeah . He and him , Reznov died for nothing . They should have survived and worked along with Mason because I know Mason wasn't himself anymore when he started to see numbers again. Sure , Reznov was a russian but people like him weren't uncommon in Us . I mean he did his best to stop nazis and again , I don't think he was evil but just broken . Mason broke when Reznov died just like Reznov did when Dmitri died . Human mind can be broken especially when you have to watch your best friend die . Reznov was the shadow of his commissar , Markov and all his leaders who were supposed to guide them only saw them as puppets of the red army . Chernov was the only person who saw this reality but died in the end . He said war was murder and he was right and if he survived , he would be killed just like Dimitri . Chernov saw nothing but monsters in front of him and that's how he remembered Reznov even though Reznov was sad about his death . Cod Waw and Black ops taught us that no matter how loyal you are , they will find a way to get rid of you and replace you with an another member . His commisar saw him nothing but just a number . "Nationalism means nothing when they betray you that was the moral of waw and black ops . All their efforts for motherland were in vain because it betrayed them.

You're forgetting a major hidden one. After the plane crash on mw3 you can walk past a certain npc and it will show their name as Dimitri petrenko I forgot exactly where but I've gotten it a couple of times.
