This man was the heart and soul of Dimmu Borgir, without him the band has been in shambles and is now a shadow of it's former glory in my honest opinion.

Much agreed. I grew up with Dimmu Borgir and Behemoth being my two favorite bands. It’s heartbreaking to see Behemoth reach it’s well deserved zenith while Dimmu Borgir flounders.

Depends on what we are talking about, as a composer I feel Mustis beats Rudess, overall I feel Mustis has more "feeling" for it, playing wise Rudess might be faster doing his solos and following the song. Jens Johansson from Stratovarius is also seriously skilled at piano.

@@hectortorres8188 His influence started in Spiritual black dimensions. Do you really think all those synth layers were Shagraths idea? Not entirely, but Mustis made the bridge between the "old" dimmu and the classical Dimmu. It has been an abominal idea for Dimmu to try and build on his legacy with him gone. It has become uninspired. Dont get me wrong, I think ENTHRONE was one of their best albums (before Mustis) but Dimmu is way over their head with the standard Oyvind left them!

@hectortorres8188 4 жыл бұрын
@@wilfredheerspink5246 Wrong, Mustis sucks, if he is so good why hasn't he done anything. Pruritanical and Death cult were good because there was an entire orchestra, and they had really good formation. Spiritual black dimensions... do you know who Nagash is? (have you heard those master pieces nexus polaris and animatronic?) Ha, no, those keyboards aren't by any means Mustis' ideas. Then we have "In sorte.." no orchestra, tired ideas, it sucks, is it also Mustis fault? no, he isn't responsible for anything... later they came with Abrahadabra, and it's better than in sorte, i would say, they managed things very well without those 2. And the latest, it sucks, just because they are over, not because Mustis isn't there. So, stop sucking this guy's dick and get realistic.

Let's not forget about Nick. I think, despite the enormous drummers that Dimmu has had, Nick brought something to the band with his playing. Also in Cradle, never was the same again after he left. They fired vortex for forgetting his instrument and going into a drunken rage smashing a glass on his forehead. One of them signed a copy of an album and went to auction it on ebay with just his signature out of greed. As for Mustis I here's a snippet from his statement regarding leaving the band: "address the fact that many songs written by me had not been registered properly under my name in their credits. Without naming every single track, let us just say that a good majority of albums like 'Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia' and 'In Sorte Diaobli' would have been vastly different had I not composed and created as much as I actually did,"

persiuntimu emeilas Because he wanted to license his piano parts on every song in played in. In other words if he would have left/fired from the band Dimmu would not be able to use, sale music that he played in without his consent. It was a good thing that he was let go.

Yeah, I'd buy it but at this point he isn't going to do a solo career. It's obvious that Shagrath really damaged him if he doesn't have enough trust in anyone to join another band or even go out on his own. It's a damn shame and it was done all to appease Shagrath's fragile ego. Does anyone else wonder why Galder hasn't made a new album in 15 years? Yeah, Shagrath.

@@akumashindorballomu That's cool. But if you look at sings that Mustis wrote or co-wrote(Progenies of the Great Apocalypse, The Insight and the Catharsis, the Promised Future Aeons, Kings of the Carnival Creation) what you would have is a list of the best songs they made while Mustis was a member. And it is definitely not a coincidence. I love Mustis musical style. I would pay 50 bucks for a CD of him just playing piano stuff he wrote for an hour.
@akumashindorballomu

@@kaziglubey4455 Did I ever say anything bad about Mustis? Of course not, I love his style, I just prefer Aarstad's darker gothic composions a bit more over Mustis's symphonic pieces. That said, The Fallen Arises is probably my favorite of the piece written by Mustis. And although Spiritual Black Dimensions is probably my fav album featuring him, I'm not sure if he was credited with any compositions there. :/ I think the music may have been written just by Shagrath, Silenoz and Nagash, and Mustis may have begun adding his imput from Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia onwards, but again, I can't be sure here. If you want to hear some stuff written by Aarstad that he didn't plagiarize, I do recommend listening to In Passion Swept by Enthral, and probably check out their album The Mirror's Opposite End. It's very much in the vein of Stormblast, old Dimmu fans would definitely enjoy it. :)

I don't think I actually appreciated how beautiful the piano bit was until I heard it isolated like this. I would love to see an entire recital. Let it not be said that metal musicians aren't gifted.

Your right. Most music in the Heavy Metal genre is actually QUALITY music, pieced together with REAL physical effort and brainpower. Unlike most wierd music today, and with autotuners, "anyone" can "sing" and create music which I find is just nonsense. I love Black, Death, and Symphonic Metal, and the older 70's to early 90's Heavy Metal as well. True music there dude, the best these days is found further back in time.
