Vortex was a reason I prefered COF to Dimmu back in times of "holy wars" Cradle vs Dimmu. :) Mustis and Nagash were true losses for Dimmu. Nick Barker either, but at least Hellhammer an Daray are excellent as well.

I have exactly the same taste in music, i.e. everything. I also rank Dimmu one of my favourite artists. I think it's because they bridge the gap between two genres, classical and metal (towards the more extreme, therefore technical [I really enjoyed technical skied musicianship])

Is just perfect in vocals, the instruments don't overpower everything, it isn't just repetitious drums, the Chorus parts are just mindblowing. This band is perfect in every way!
