Indeed, they are so clean and polished. You can tell that these guys rehearse the shit out of everything to perfection. In fact I submit that they are even better live. Saw them in like 2001 with the ultimate lineup (Shagrath, Silenoz, Galder, Mustis, Vortex, Barker, like OMG) and they were amazing. Their presence on the stage is practically unmatched. Vortex is just freaking enormous, and super badass, both guitarists are super into it and engage a lot with the audience nonverbally, Mustis is unmatched on metal keyboards and imo has the best and scariest corspe paint, and of course (in this video) Daray does a great job on drums.

@nilmarkas91426 жыл бұрын
I dunno, man. They're still great and all, just like they were in the Enthrone Darkness Triumphant - Godless Savage Garden era (badass👍) But I fuckin' miss Mustis and Vortex so much. Mustis's perfectionism and Vortex's badass opera-trained pipes added a whole new layer (upon layer, upon layer, upon layer... etc.) to an already fierce fucking band. I hope they eventually work shit out because it's just not the same anymore =/ That's my two cents anyway. Forresten, er du norsk, vennen min? Assuming that you are... xD Jeg beklager om min norsk er litt rar. Hvis du ikke bruker det, vil du miste det hehe

This is the song which got me into black metal back in 2005. When I heard the synths for the first time I was like: "Man this is f*cking awesome! I want more!" And so, Dimmu Borgir became the main inspiration for my music and still is. Pitty, that their latest albums are not as good as DCA but still, they have to be respected for the great music they have written. At 4:03 Galder is beast. \m/(>_

The first song I heard from these guys was Puritania,but Vredesbyrd really got me into them.This song is so fucking dynamic,it'd sound fast at half the speed.Learning the lyrics made it that much sweeter.Please your soul with the the wonders of sin,for where will you be when the final candle is snuffed?Like the american proverb "eat,drink,be merry;for tomorrow,we die."I wish we still had that spirit here.

This is my favourite Dimmu video. I wish all of their songs were in Norwegian, it suits black metal to the tee. Mustis needs a hell of a lot of credit on this one, his ambient suspense notes add an evil/demonic edge to this which I really like.

Thanks riegieg. (He is also visible at 1:45 just behind and to the left of Shagrath.) I was shocked not to have seen him earlier - he IS the (co-) leader of the band after all! Funny: he writes all the songs and plays rhythm guitar, but he is never featured onstage. You see Shagrath, Galder, and Vortex playing to the crowd every second, but Silenoz seems to keep a low profile. Like Shagrath offstage: he always seems so shy in interviews!

I'm looking foward to that alot, I LOVE their live performances over alot of their album music, so I may have to try and get that since they can add little touches to the song on the fly like in Ozzfests Kings of Carnival performance where shaggy goes "aye.. aye.. aye.. COME ON!!!", I fucking love how brutal that was. I dont see other bands doing this, Dimmu executes things almost "perfectly" to me, thats why im having trouble finding bands that compare.
