BEGOTTEN is a truly disturbing masterpiece and Part 1 of a trilogy. This is Part 2 and the final act isn't done yet. The biggest problem here is the short running time. It's almost impossible to be so effective and life changing like BEGOTTEN in 11 minutes.

Not even closer to Begotten. While totally strange, Begotten had some sort of story going on. This time, just random, black and white kaleidoscopic like images, unfunny and not disturbing/shocking as the previous movie.

From what I'm getting from: it's about the beginning---big bang. And the world forming. Celestial is in the title, but the bird part is a total mystery to me - and from what source I heard, rumors of course. Celestial Bird is something pivotal to the story

E. Elias Merhige originally concocted the "Flesh & Bones" trilogy based upon a near-death experience he had after a car accident, and he wanted it to look like an age-old cultural artifact stored somewhere deep in the collective unconscious, akin to the Old Testament and other such myths. Part 1, "Begotten", was released in 1991, dealt with creation, and prompted Marilyn Manson to immediately hire Mehrhige to direct several of his music videos. "Begotten" dealt with the birth of the character Flesh & Bones aka the Son of Man as follows: In the beginning, God commits suicide, then Mother Earth comes and steals semen from dead God, to give birth to the Son of Man aka Flesh & Bones, who is born in full adult form, but obviously heavily disfigured and disabled. From there, Flesh & Bones stumbles through a dead, barren wasteland full of monsters and vile atrocities. This video here is "Din of Celestial Birds" (2006), the much shorter part 2 of the trilogy that deals with evolution from the first spark of life to the birth of humanoid consciousness. Part 3 is yet to come, will be about death, and is supposed to be of feature length again just like part 1.
