The first time I saw the voiceover of players with footage of the game was in the BBC series, The Master Game, which ran from 1976-1983. It looks very clunky now, but it was highly innovative at the time, attracted a healthy viewership and I, for one, was glued to the screen. Unlike in the video, the actual game was played in private and then reconstructed in the studio later with the voiceovers (of both players) recorded immediately after the game. With modern video and computer technology I think this form of presentation is potentially an excellent way to promote chess and also gives a great insight into the thought processes of players. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Master_Game kzbin.info/www/bejne/pH2xcoiXoK1ropI

The voiceover is great. Many narrations sound like reading out of a chess manual. But I think the goal should be to get the viewer as close as possible to reading the mind of the player at the board. You do a very good job of that here. It makes complicated positions easier to understand.

I don't quite understand chess players. It often seems like they prefer playing opponents they *know* they can beat, which doesn’t speak highly of their character. That said, if someone is overly arrogant, it’s fine to put them in their place. However, it seems that higher-level players often target lower-ranked players, which feels off.
