Lord, the nostalgia one can find on KZbin. Felt like being 8 years old for a little while and looked these up. Man, was it great to be a kid back then. Only one problem; my sister broke King Ding and my mother forgot to ask "Santa" for a damn power pac:)) Hey, anyone else here have a Johnny Lightning 500 race track?

Then as now, Dingaling’s primary meaning was “nitwit,” but more comedic.

Incidentally it's a trade commercial used to sell to buyers. It wouldn't have been on TV though I'm sure a lot of the footage was used in the TV ads.

I've been trying to find this for some time but I just couldn't remember the name "King Ding" until it just popped into my head today! I looked it up and "pow!" there it is. Gotta love the internet! I had King Ding and Brain when I was around 5 years old (1971?) I don't remember the other robots or the "Ding a Ling" name. Just King Ding and Brain. My big brither blew Brains arms off with firecrackers. :( It was a very cool toy.

These are awesome, so many different designs. Love that there are Chef and Shoeshine robots. Ding a lings is a stupid and terrible name for them though.
@centrevez20755 жыл бұрын
brings an whole new meaning to the song won't you play with my ding a ling after seeing this 60's commercial and no I won't naming toys ding a ling robots and king dong is disturbingly gross just imagine an embarrassed kid on Santa's lap back then by saying to Santa I want king dong for Christmas and the other kids laugh in hysterics I thought wunder boner was way worse and immature but this tops that by 100% .

Ding-A-Ling robot toys go for high prices. On Ebay The king ding Bot is selling for over 500$ and the sky way is over 200$.
@westsidesmitty13 жыл бұрын
Wow. $500! What the heck did I do? I had them all, plus the blue ''sky track'' they ran on. But then again, none of my toys survived, except the Tonka trucks and tractors- they will last for centuries!

@@drumdad54sdl47 Also a Voice of the Mummy Game and a Funlight Projector. Remember those?
@westsidesmitty13 жыл бұрын
@@mkl62 Friend, Voice of the Mummy ruled! I had forgotten the name, but the second I read your comment, the images came back crystal clear. I actually had a ''strategy'' to simply spend the game on the lower levels, methodically collecting the small green jewels and pass on chances to move up and take the crown jewel (and the problematic ''cursed cobra'' ). Since, in the end, it was about the total value, I sometimes won. It would enrage my younger brother, who felt I was cheating! ''Mummy'' vied with ''Green Ghost'' as one of my favorite games. Strange Change Machine was top of the line, as well. Those were the days!

I wasn’t even born back in the 60s during the time when this toy was then advertised on TVs nationwide because I’ve watched this commercial back on a classic commercials DVD box it and which I still have because I remember watching this three minute ad back on the DVD collection because all of these dinging toy robots Have a portable battery in which it can be replaced and moved to another robot itself because every robot has a job description and I remember they had one large one. They called the king in which had a small robot that act as the brain of the giant robot itselfbecause when I was done coming into the world in the early 70s, this toy was no longer made. Plus it was out of print forever because I know someone who is in their 50s or 60s. They still have that toy today.

Negativland used the audio from this on their Over The Edge radio show. It sounded too elaborate to actually exist. Lo and behold there it is and a little more plausible with the visuals, however still pretty elaborate looking. If this were the 1980s or 1990s there would be an afternoon cartoon to sell these things.
