I met Ding Liren in China at the China training base in Hangzhou right before he went to the world championship against Nepo. It was an amazing experience, and he’s a very quiet and humble guy. He’s very calm and friendly. He was very tense at that state, and I could tell he was nervous for the WC. His hands were shaking sometimes. (If you’re wondering how I met him, I trained at the Chinese chess team base In Hangzhou and while I was there, I met him a few times.)

I was in the Hangzhou chesstower as well for half a year, but unfortunately haven’t met any gms there. Though I won 20000 yuan in a tournament there, so I shouldn’t complain 😅

Rooting for Ding!❤It would be spectacular to see the ultimate comeback in chess. Although many feel Gukesh winning would do more good for chess, I think they underestimate how deeply Ding's potential story of overcoming all odds can touch people, old and new. India will continue to help chess thrive with all its talents and Gukesh will have another chance at the world championship. I hope this will be Ding's moment of glory.
