Am i the only one who's now kinda small rooting for ding as well? Like, it cannot be more one-sided than this and everybody knows it and speaks openly about it. Ding winning it would be one hell of a comeback story.

I'll kind of root for Ding to come back. (i.e. if he comes back to his 2018-2019 form, not just for this championship, but he'll continue to dominate in the years after). If he just wins this match and then continues to struggle, if would be bad for chess, and I believe also bad for himself. So unless Ding can come back in all his glory (and wish him that, really), they I'll root for Gukesh in this match

actually I agree, i think he has mentioned in many interviews that he consciously makes sure to not discuss the opening ideas, prep etc. with other Indian counterparts as he feels they are going to clash among each other a lot and he doesn't want to give them any insight into his chess. Also pragg, guki, arjun, nihal are a part of waca(Westbridge anand chess academy) and all of them have shared ideas etc. among themselves except gukesh, he likes to maintain a distance between himself and his competitors. So he is friendly with them only outside of chess.

It's important to recognize that chess is fundamentally a game of the mind, and maximizing brain power often requires sufficient time to think. Shorter time controls can sometimes introduce an element of luck, which doesn't truly reflect the depth and strategy that chess embodies. As for Gukesh, he has earned his place as the youngest World Chess Championship challenger through hard work and dedication, proving himself fair and square. If he wins the championship, he will undoubtedly be ready to face Magnus and demonstrate his capabilities.

Something to consider about the predictions for the winner: Gukesh, unlike Ding, had the unquestionable and overwhelming support from the biggest nation in the world. China also has a lot of people, "only" about 2 or 3 hundred million people less than India, but it's a country that is completely different from India in it's very nature. People of India show their support very publicly, while china seems to care and focus almost 100% if their time on surveillance, punishments, political maneuvers, etc without really worrying about the world chess champion title - that gives Gukesh a huge advantage in the sense that he will have (probably) much greater motivation to win. This means the formula that will most likely shape Gukesh's play in the match is: support+resources+passion=motivation+great preparation in all aspects of play. This is a deadly force over the board, and Ding will have to show his positional Superiority/genius without missing tactics in order to have good winning chances each game. Plus, Gukesh has been hearing from every possible direction in the past few months that he is such a brilliant player and such a favorite to win from all directions and channels, that he might be thinking to himself: "I must be doing things and playing games right, so just keep like you are doing now and it will be fine". This possible thought is incredibly helpful for his confidence, self esteem, you name it- so it must be a key ingredient for him to not be so nervous about the match in general and each game in particular. Ding, in the other hand, will need to shake all the negative feedback and predictions of his losing chances and play in a mindset of "I'm just as good". Hope the players see this and benefit from my little add-on. But of course, I might be wrong about everything.
