Another great post, thank you! The book your friend was talking about (the guy who sailed the mirror dinghy to the Black Sea from Bristol) was "The Unlikely Voyage of Jack de Crow" by A. J. Mackinnon. It's a great read.

The author is from Adelaide (figures) and in the book he actually leaves from a small creek barely wide enough for his boat at the back of the boarding school he was working at in North Wales. It's all done in a Mirror dinghy. There's a fellah in Southampton who gets up to similar antics in real life - watch him on his channel "Mirror Cruising" - a REAL sailor.

Mackinon gave a talk about his trip at HBYC in Williamstown Victoria about 5 years ago and unfortunately I was in Sydney then. But I did read his book and well what can I say, you have to read it.

Here in Puget Sound we have some beautiful sailing waterways but not so wild as Down Under … our San Juan Islands are awesome but channels n passages might get rough like outside by Lions Rock … that Myall Lakes are beautiful n wild ( totally awesome ). Heading up to Alaska sailing the Inland Passage is on the wild side like down there. Fair winds n great sailing, Papa J.

Another great vid Paul. We watched Josh’s version yesterday. Thoroughly enjoyed both. 👍🏻👍🏻 Can honestly say as a fiercely proud Victorian and of similar vintage to you gentlemen, I have never once wanted to live in NSW. I did in Nth Qld for a time and the rivalry between all of the eastern states is legendary. Buggered if I know why. 🤷♂️ I would genuinely love to live near enough to sail and hang out with you guys and enjoy what you do and have at your doorsteps. Keep up the great work please. Following you all on FB also. Regards Ian

Thanks Paul….Wow, that’s a big call, leaving Paynesville. The jewel of Victoria in my opinion. Beautiful place. We sail that region, out of Loch Sport. Perhaps the Sydney Raiders arrange a hit raid down here 👍🏻

Nice surprise to go with my 1st morning coffee. Pleased you introduced the second vid so I could find this one first. I wonder how the hole was made, there seemed plenty of support on the trailer, so it must have been from the launch. Loved the sunglasses.
@SailingKateLouise3 жыл бұрын
Hi Dale, I think a bumpy road, 50 yr old plywood and maybe not tying down enough to the trailer might have been the cause...not sure. Anyway Dave is waiting for the weather to improve before going Epoxy, Cheers Paul
