Dinghy Cruising Toscana

Five days sailing south from Bocca di Magra to Baia di Baratti, along the coast of wonderful Toscana. Sailing with my homebuilt dinghy, class Goat Island Skiff.

Thanks Mic. Yes, well said: weather decisionmaking is a key, expecially sailing dinghies. And I like the fact that -in case of need- I can shelter ashore in places where bigger boats can't. This brings to the sailing-game many possibilities to play with.

It was indeed! This year I did the continuation with a bigger dinghy. Splashed in the same place (Baratti gulf) and turned around Isola d'Elba in 5 days. You can check the video "I vagabondi dell'Elba". Maybe next spring I will continue Southward, along the coast of Italy. Thanks for the visit!

Thanks! Time is an issue. So I have no plan for round Italy, although it should be a great project. I plan to go a little more south (there is still a piece of Toscana there!) in the next season. We'll see!!

Ciao Alessandro, grazie! Il giubbino è un must, soprattutto se si naviga da soli! Di regola lo tolgo solo se mi metto a remare. La vela al terzo è veramente geniale se si pensa alla semplicità di utilizzo e ai pochi accessori necessaria (no snodo boma, no canaletta sull'albero, ecc) e le performance sono assolutamente onorevoli. La randa del GIS ha una superficie di 10m2, con una base di 3,3m e un'altezza totale di 5,3m.

Hi FAB, yes they are. I tested them and found that 10 liters of water per side have the effect to stabilize the boat. I fill them only when I sail solo. Thanks for watching!

Ciao Steam, sono 2 taniche da 10 litri l'una. Una volta riempite le posiziono ognuna lungo una fiancata. Il braccio di leva non cambia (essendo una per lato) ma la barca è molto più stabile e meno stancante da condurre. Considera che il Goat Island Skiff non ostante le apparenze ha un assetto bello sportivo: meno di 70kg lo scafo e 10m2 di randa. Con le 2 taniche piene la addomestico un po!

Ciao, sono Ernesto, scrivo da Buenos Aires, ho fatto una barca di legno però più piccola soltanto 2,36 mts di lunghesa, per potere portarla via sopra la macchina, adesso vedo con sorpresa che anche tuo dinghy lo porti sopra la machina, quanto pesa ? lo sollevi tu solo ? quale è la sua misura ?
