All the space videos I've seen just make me appreciate our planet more. Maybe it's telling us that the more we look outside, the more we should be concentrating on making our planet right.
@bishop518072 жыл бұрын
True, but getting rid of the benefits and technology that space travel has given us, would set human civilization back half a century or more. Also, other Scholars have pointed, out instead of destroying our planet through strip mining, drilling and industrial pollution. We could gather some of our mineral resources from outer space.

He said they use radiation for the food to prevent bacteria? How is that safe to eat afterwards!? Still it's cool to see what they can eat up there!
@kucko210 жыл бұрын
How isn't it safe to eat afterwards? I think you believe radiation to be harmful because of what it can do to LIVING cells. In this case, the radiation treated foods should be perfectly fine to eat without much, if any, risk.
@EinkOLED10 жыл бұрын
Food irradiation
@BosonCollider10 жыл бұрын
Irradiated food does not become radioactive afterwards, just like food that has been in sunlight for a while does not start to shine. Radiation in this case usually means hard X-rays, which are exactly like light in every way except that they have a shorter wavelength. Imho, the term "irradiated food" isn't very specific. "X-ray pasteurized food" would have been a more descriptive term.
@TheEvilKookieMuffin10 жыл бұрын
if you have a microwave you have had food that has been treated by radiation. Of course, used to heat it up. Not exactly as the irradiated food on orbit, but same idea :)

The point of the ISS is to expand our horizon and go beyond our limits. Even if you think they do nothing useful look at it for what it is one of the greatest engineering achievements in the history of humanity. People who feel that space exploration is a waste of money do not understand nor see the bigger picture of what it means that we have created something amazing and we now have humans living in space. This might not mean much to you but to me it is awe inspiring and I know I'm not alone.

For $100 billion one would think NASA could have provided a proper galley with a refrigerator and microwave. It seems like feeding these people was an after thought in the design.
@ellieblunden14636 жыл бұрын
Why would they when this system works perfectly fine? The way they do everything is scientifically honed to be both as efficient and light as possible. Adding a microwave to the equation and a different refrigeration would not only add to the complication of the astronauts daily life but, it would also weigh more on the ship taking it to the station (which would lead to less space for more useful supplies).
@janelee937612 жыл бұрын
It looks very fun to eat in the space though you need to recyle every moisture, even your urine, you can collect. Also look at the tunnel style entrance and exit filled with bumpers (?) that you can fly through. This is a dream! Thank you for the video.
