Dinky restoration of Mercedes Benz 600 Pullman no.128 Toy model cast.

The Mercedes Benz 600 Pullman was Dinky's flagship model produced from 1965 to 1979. In 1965 the Dinky Company featured it on the cover of its catalogue. The model contains the maximum number of gadgets. In addition to opening parts and a driver with passengers, it has turning wheels. I used moulds I had made during other Dinky restorations to recreate the missing parts. The big challenge was to reproduce the colour of the original model. I decided to compare the Mercedes Dinky with a Corgi model. In the early years of production, the Mercedes was packaged in a normal cardboard box and this is what I did. In later years it was sold on a cardboard stand with Blister packaging. Thank you for watching the video, I publish car repair videos on Tuesdays and Saturdays. What a spectacular custom restoration! So many pieces to address stripping, prepping, and painting! The fiddly, painstaking restoration of the interior must have been a trying worry. Getting the wheels as plum as possible on the axels to roll correctly was another task you handled deftly. After all the careful prepping and extensive paint job, you needed 7 fingers on all three hands to put it all back together again without damaging all your hard work!! You demonstrated great patience in this process. The giant box creation was wonderful! Paul, truly, you are the gold-standard of die-cast restorations on You-Tube...or anywhere else for that matter in my opinion!! Spectacular outcome!! It is always a joy to watch your meticulous attention to detail, and deft, careful processes through all phases of restoration. Congratulations!!

Sehr überzeugendes Ergebnis Deiner Restauration, Paul. Der Mercedes sieht nun wieder so aus, wie man sich einen noblen Direktionswagen vorstellt. Perfekt! I don't recollect a real life metallic red car, unless the late King Khaled of Saudi Arabia had one in that colour to match the King's Bodyguard cars: I reckon this choice of colour was more to do with the Corgi car! Lovely restoration nonetheless, though I'd have been tempted into black, dark blue or a butchered landaulet in white. Next time, eh?
