There may be many more but that is just what I can think of at the moment. Enjoy your stay in Canada.

*Smoked salmon!* 🇨🇦 Ideally on a good bagel with cream cheese and all the happy little garnishes. Obviously you can go out for it, but it’s kinda fun to assemble at home with the family. Makes for a fancy easy cold brunch during the holidays. If you guys are where I think you are, there is a shockingly good Montreal-style bagel shop in your area; the name is a dead giveaway, should come up really fast in local search results. They make their own cream cheese in-house. That’s the best of west coast and east coast in one meal. (Recommended toppings: capers, red onion, dill, black pepper, whatever you like. Some people like chives, avocado, red pepper flakes, lemon juice, lemon zest, but I think sometimes those can obscure the flavour of the smoked salmon. Nice to have some cucumber slices or mini tomatoes on the side.) Not very on-theme here but I am spiritually obligated to mention it: their cinnamon bagels with the honey vanilla cream cheese are criminally good. IT SHOULD BE A CRIME.

I think unless oysters are commercially-farmed there's a chance of finding a pearl in them. There's not so much sandy sediment in oyster farm tanks. If the oysters are wild-foraged there will be more chance of them getting sand grains in their shells, which is the starting point of a pearl. I always hope to find a pearl when I buy oysters, but I doubt it will ever happen (unless I can befriend a wild oyster forager, of course).
