I know this comment a bit late but that green stuff is a type of plant that baitfish eat and then predator fish like tuna, bonita, and others then eat those baitfish and it sometimes can intoxicate the meat.

Just subscribed a few days ago. A more realistic catch would be a big roosterfish, black marlin is in another league. You should try it from a panga, it is a blast. I have done it myself quite a few times, good luck next time

Yes bonito what we used for bait. We caught 5 black marlin and 15 sailfish and one cubera snapper about 35 He scared the hell out of me with the big teeth that came over the transom 2 feet from my foot. That was a nice mahi. We did not catch any mahi, We lost a 600 pound black marlin that smoked the reel and spooled it.
