You know me I get the FEVER | Airboat Tilapia Gigging (Catch Clean & Cook)

This was a spur of the moment, mid work week, night out on Lake Okeechobee and it sure was a long night! We spent hours looking for the elusive tilapia and at first we found beds but no fish. Patience and perseverance paid off in the end. I’m thankful to have such great friends to live life with. Here’s to my second catch, clean, and cook!

Oh well let us see. I prefer an electric fillet knife but when using a regular fillet knife I like the gerber or kershaw. A must is a good sharpener always. With your positive presence you and your channel will be successful without a doubt. Your smile shows just how much you enjoy everything you do :)

A disclaimer for the electric. While you miss a tiny bit of the meat from the height of the backbone of the fish, it is much easier to get through the pin and rib bones of the fish making the time at the cleaning table a third of what it would be with a regular knife. Also the fillets are amazing looking when giving them to friends. The first couple maybe not so much as you get accustomed to the horsepower of the knife. Have a great day!

Nice video, thanks for posting! Keep up the good work. I used to bow shoot a lot of Tilapia in the 1990s.. A common kitchen knife called an 8 inch slicer was the best for filleting Tilapia back then. As you found out large wild tilapia have big scales and thick rib bones..the stiff rounded slicer blade was better than our thin flexible standard fillet knives.

My son is a participant every year in at least a few events around the central florida area. Our fav is Cocoa. Oh and my son loves fishing. Trying to get him on bigger fish but from shore it's difficult some times.

Great work down in El Salvador.....My sister joined the Peace Corps back in 1973 after completing a masters in allied health. She worked setting up clinics in the Andes of Ecuador. After a two year stint, she actually WORKED FOR the Peace Corps training volunteers. While in Ecuador she got together with Mom and Dad down there and they set up a co-op in a small village where the Indians could use a dozen or so sewing machines that Mom bought and they could make things to send to the city for tourists to buy. Sis went back there in the 90's (as an M.D. this time) and the sewing shop was still going strong with what by then were virtual antique machines. People familiar with the village said the money brought in drastically changed the place for the better over time....Oh...and the Tilapia catching was cool too....had no idea they got that big!

BA Fishing and so easy to make! We make them and just use a regular coleslaw or cabbage salad with a vinegar sauce.
