This was the first timeI ever saw Joanne Froggatt (Sigourney) of Downton Abbey fame! I wonder how many peoples' careers Victoria Wood started? I wish I'd known her as a budding writer myself - but she's miles above almost everyone in talent! (The game with the 2 fingers actually works! If you do it perfectly, their heads DO hit the ceiling - but it must be done perfectly! No metal trays where I come from! 😅 It's really quite amazing how you can control when shown how! 4 9f us lifted a 6'4" man way over our heads in the air - and he did smack the ceiling with his head!) Feel free to ask if you want to know how! RIP, Ms. Wood. You were decades ahead of your time, and the world is a much worse place without your ability to create hilarity and havoc in it - you made people feel GOOD! You are my hero - and deeply missed! ❤😢❤

@@tariqkhader6196 "Bean counter" is pejorative slang (American?) for an accountant (generally one who is only interested in the bottom line), or an executive who puts money before things like safety. I think the term came out of the Ford Pinto scandal in the 1970s. Ford execs knew there was a design flaw that caused the Pinto to burst into flames when hit in the rear end. The bean counters were the ones who decided it was less expensive to pay settlements for people who died in flames than to recall the cars and fix them. That way they could keep more of their beans. It symbolized the value of human lives to them - so many beans.

Because our TV isn't controlled by huge production companies who need to produce 6 month long series, which often come with a drop in quantity because they have to churn out episodes of lower quality to pad out the series. In the case of this particular series, writer Victoria Wood said that writing the second series nearly finished her off, which is why she decided to stop it when she did.
