Dinnerladies (stylised in lowercase as dinnerladies) is a British sitcom created, written and co-produced by Victoria Wood. Two series were broadcast on BBC One from 1998 to 2000, with 16 episodes in total. The programme is repeated on Gold, and the complete series was released on DVD in November 2004.

Listening to the outro music, just Victoria Wood on a piano, it both elates and hurts to think back to all the times she would do that on her tours and her shows. She'd sing and play, songs that both made us laugh and think. And to think that there will never be that again. We have all the recordings, all the shows and music but it pales in comparison to the lady doing it live. Victoria Wood was the queen of comedy and there will never be one like her again.

The saddest line in this show is the exchange between Bren and Tony at 20:10 : Tony: "I'm not smoking it near you." Bren: "Well I don't want you to get cold." Tony: "Well I don't want you to get cancer." There's a slight audible sigh from the audience that makes it seem more melancholy.

It is a heartbreaking exchange. In 'Summer Stock', Judy Garland tears a page from a calendar, and exposes the date June 22nd, which was the day she died in 1969. I find it jarring every time.
