My favorite J song. The solo on the album is magical, especially this 3 second part near the end. It just kills me.

Fender just came out with that same Telecaster as his signature. It’s dope. I still wanna get the Jazzmaster one.
@PantheonLincoln12 жыл бұрын
He uses Teles more than people realise. The solos on the new Dino album are all done on a Tele. He's been using them since the "Green Mind" album. He mostly sticks to Jazzmasters live though, because it's what still works best for the old stuff.

I’ve literally never heard anyone say you can’t solo on a telecaster, or any guitar for that matter. You people that say random things to reaffirm your purchase of a particular piece of gear are from another planet.

I prefer the backing vocals of this version instead of the female tbh. I just really like the delivery of the line “you’re not going to get me through this are you” when it’s at a lower note as a contrast to J’s higher pitch. It works better

I really do await the day when good music like this is allowed to return. But for now, artistic expression is forced out the way, for the sake of profit. It's gonna a lot to break that mould. J Mascis is a guitar beast!

@DeadWhiteButterflies I would like to make a recommendation to you. Please listen to the Screaming Females. They have toured with Dinosaur Jr. over the past few years and J Mascis has mentioned that they are one of his favorite bands. Let me tell you also that the lead singer and guitarist Marissa Paternoster is the best guitar player in rock right now and is just as good as J Mascis. They're current 2010 album Castle Talk is the best place to start. You can thank the band when you see them.

@halifuckinfan yeah, radiohead is one of the bests - XX is great if you are open to different music however I'm not into silversun pickups like my brother is. Vampire weekend, sonic youth, sebadoh, fruit bats, and definatly mew if you like dinosaur jr because J-mascis did a song with Mew- "why are you looking grave" and it was beautiful. :)
@Kurtney459414 жыл бұрын
holy shit a tele, i hate that guitar but holy fuck he isnt playin a jazz
@DeadWhiteButterflies Actuallly, I kinda disagree with my own statement now. Seems I posted this without really thinking. I actually find that there is good music right now. You just need to stop complaining that "All the best stuff has already been done" and go look for it. Besides, it's not like genius only gets one chance and that's it. In fact there has never been a better time than now, when you can do whatever you want and there's at least some people who will love you for it.
@PaulKneller14 жыл бұрын
@DeadWhiteButterflies You're just not looking in the right places because there is plenty of wonderful art music. Dr. Dog, Elliott Smith, Woods, No Age, Ganglians, Afternoon brother, animal collective, deerhoof, deerhunter, kirkwood dellinger, black keys, awesome color, decemberists, red hot chili peppers, meat puppets, pregnant, black dice, wavves (maybe not so much wavves - it's acquired), caribou, atlas sound, mew... whatever - probably wont like all these anyway. Just ideas
