Really crazy how ahead of their time these guys were with this record, workshopping stuff like this in '86. Without You're Living All Over Me, there's a good chance that grunge, noise rock, and even shoegaze would not have developed the way it did. Here's some fun facts: J Mascis, the frontman and incredible guitarist, actually primarily used to be a drummer before he started Dino Jr. Kurt Cobain loved him so much that he asked him to be part of Nirvana when he was looking for a drummer, but J says "he didn't think much about it". What a cool dude. He eventually did play in Nirvana though: he played Kurt's part during their 2014 reunion, which is so sweet. He's also big friends with Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine, was in a band with him briefly during the early 2000,and sometimes he still comes out on stage during their live shows and plays with them. Every indie star on the planet loves these guys. Oh and Sonic Youth too! He was so idolized by them, that they actually wrote Teenage Riot (yes, their most well known song) about him, as it was initially called "J Mascis for president". That's why in the song they mention Marshall stacks, since J plays with a dozen of them behind him at all times. Crazy that he still isn't deaf with all that noise around his ears. As for recs,I'm still gonna shill for Jeff Rosenstock! Wether it's his first band, The Arrogant Sons of Bitches' "Three Cheers for Disappointment", his stuff with Bomb the Music Industry, or his more well known solo career (especially WE COOL? and WORRY) you can't go wrong with the guy!

YES!!!!! thank you for checking it out can't wait to watch, here's the rest of the recs for fun Pinback - Pinback (Very chill and creative late 90s indie rock) Modest Mouse - This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About (Amazing album, very nearly as good as The Lonesome Crowded West) Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles (Insanely badass aura filled production and vocals, extremely unique) Weezer - Pinkerton (Some of the nicest sounding guitar/drums/everything you'll hear in 90s alt rock, with crazy honest lyrics, ended up inspiring some emo bands) The Prodigy - The Fat Of The Land (badass big-beat dance music) Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand (lovely 90's lo-fi) Hella - Hold Your Horse Is (Math Rock with the drummer from Death Grips, before he was in Death Grips) Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain (Absolutely perfect 90's indie rock album)

Rock is already a well-established musical genre, I wanted you to give a chance to Brazilian Funk, it was created in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro in the 90's and is becoming a phenomenon these times. Anitta launched this year the Funk Generation, a presentation of Funk with all its aspects, it walks between pop and experimental

YLAOM is quite beloved by me and by brother and many friends. Loving it since 1989. And their covers were so noisy it was comical! A great example of making the guitar speak, sing etc. It was way more musically clever than much indie rock. And his vocals feel cathartic but Lou's even moreso

I used to own this album on (green) vynil in the 90's, that last song is a Cure cover and was not included in the original release, but was added later when CD's became a thing. I recommend their '97 album Hand It Over, it has some of J's wildest and angriest guitar solos in the entire Dino Jr discography.

DinoJr has been having many friends guest star at their NYC shows, particularly an anniversary bash. Singing Don't (Barlow) they had Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqrPep-Jns5rgdksi=02Bo1Qinh7Re4rzq and John Brannon (Negative Approach). Don't is on Bug. They had members of My Bloody Valentine, Bob Mould, strangely Dave Matthews and others. And their music videos are all rad and funny.
