Really crazy how ahead of their time these guys were with this record, workshopping stuff like this in '86. Without You're Living All Over Me, there's a good chance that grunge, noise rock, and even shoegaze would not have developed the way it did. Here's some fun facts: J Mascis, the frontman and incredible guitarist, actually primarily used to be a drummer before he started Dino Jr. Kurt Cobain loved him so much that he asked him to be part of Nirvana when he was looking for a drummer, but J says "he didn't think much about it". What a cool dude. He eventually did play in Nirvana though: he played Kurt's part during their 2014 reunion, which is so sweet. He's also big friends with Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine, was in a band with him briefly during the early 2000,and sometimes he still comes out on stage during their live shows and plays with them. Every indie star on the planet loves these guys. Oh and Sonic Youth too! He was so idolized by them, that they actually wrote Teenage Riot (yes, their most well known song) about him, as it was initially called "J Mascis for president". That's why in the song they mention Marshall stacks, since J plays with a dozen of them behind him at all times. Crazy that he still isn't deaf with all that noise around his ears. As for recs,I'm still gonna shill for Jeff Rosenstock! Wether it's his first band, The Arrogant Sons of Bitches' "Three Cheers for Disappointment", his stuff with Bomb the Music Industry, or his more well known solo career (especially WE COOL? and WORRY) you can't go wrong with the guy!
