I had a dinosaur 'encyclopedia' from the late 80s that had the arms and claws of Deinocheirus, classifying it as a 'theropod predator'. You might have guessed if it wasn't a predatory theropod it MIGHT be a Therizinosaur, but a ornithomimid?

Yes and the best (to date) Dinosaur book I ever had was the Encylopedia A-Z of them from David Lambert in 1994, exploring many important points that earlier books never had, i.e. parental care among dinosaurs, herd living and defence against predators, emphasising how, just like in modern times, most hunts would have ended in failure, no matter how dangerous the predator.

Something weird did happen here: today I'm watching this the first time and find my comment regarding the previous video in my playlist, which I watched yesterday, now here. I guess, at the end of that previous video, the playlist switched without me noticing it and then writing the comment during the ad at the start of this (taking it for the ending of the other video). Nevertheless, off course I like your video too, but I had to edit my comment here to make more sense ;-) BTW 5:22 & 11:36 found that CGI footage, showing an already mounted dinosaur skeleton being excavated at a dig site (despite all the eye-catching pithiness), somewhat out of place within such a thoroughly well-made docu video.

If it spent the majority of it's feeding time in the water and lived in a wetland-like habitat I imagine it's colouration would be a base of earthy browns, black, and greys with patches of green algae growing on the feathers.

It's strange to me that during your overview of The Nemegt Formation, you didn't bring up Alioramus, another Tyrannosaur that lived in the area, and may have preyed on younger Deinocheirus.

The deinocheirus had to be one of my favorite herbivore/omnivores with hige claws other than therizinosaurus. I saw some online artwork that showed it with a mix of water plants and a small fish in it's mouth. I could see deinocheirus with a herbivorous and piscivorus diet.

Bagaraattan would likely have to avoid Tarbosaurus or be food for him too, or killed to remove him from the area, though Tarbosaurus babies wouldn't be exempt from slaughter by adult or half-grown Bagaraattan, or roving herd of plant eaters.

Deinocheirus was indeed a very interesting dinosaur. With its size, it would have been fascinating to see how it fought off large predators. Those predators probably thought twice before attempting to go after Deinocheirus.

Thank you for your referencing its ability to defend itself several times over. So stupid of people to think that if an animal doesn't look imposing or threatening, what can it do. Stupid beyond belief, as no matter how comedically cute or cutely comedic Kangaroos, Ostriches and Great Anteaters are, they do lethal damage with their kicking, slashing legs and powerful claws, and all 3 of these could kill a human easily anyway, as could most animals come to that as our natural weapons are for shit. Which is why we cheat, never mind the fact we're not supposed to as we have a bloody easy time with creatures on the modern planet, poor them. Deinocheirus, like the equally huge Therizinosaurus and Gigantoraptor, actually outside the largest predator of the period (Tarbosaurus), a tyrannosaurid that does not seem to quite match his US cousin (Tyrannosaurus's) size, yet the latter is ALSO smaller than the largest duckbills that ever lived (Edmontosaurus, Lambeosaurus) and Shatungosaurus itself, the Edmonotsaurus-like duckbill of Late Cretaceous Asia, towered over a full-grown Trabosaurus, just when it was on all fours! Basically, with dinosaurs this size, they would be big enough to knock down a heavy-headed Tyrannosaurid of any size if events favoured them, and a tail lash could knock it over too. Deinocheirus, like Therizinosaurus had massive claws that could harm the bodies and sensitive faces and eyes of Tarbosaurus, Alioramus, Alectrosaurus, and dromaeosaurids like the REAL Velociraptor too damn minute to be any threat at all.

Yes He was very huge dinosaur. Omnivore. He weighted 16 ton even, have Huge Belly!.. He had bigger head than its shown so it could easily swallow smaller dinosaur that was even 4 tones. It could eat 3 dinosaures like this at once so after meal it weighted 28 tones. Then it lay down to rest and after digestion it weighted 24 tones. And make huge stuff that is maked by animals.
