It’s obvious how much passion and respect has been put into this from just the trailer alone. I love dinosaurs and seeing someone who loves them just as much is amazing, and I can tell that you'll be portraying dinosaurs as the animals they were, not movie monsters and that’s something that is sorely needed. Your ability to combine up to date information, speculation and your own cel-shaded style is truly outstanding, and to see how far you've come from a project like "Sharp Teeth", which was just over 2 years ago is mindblowing. I just wanted to say thank you, for not only this series but everything you have done. You have inspired not only me but countless others and I’m excited for what this series and the future holds.

It never hurts to remind ourselves that dinosaurs weren't towering kaiju wanting to destroy everything around them. They were just animals, but that doesn't make them any less majestic or beautiful, because lots of our modern day animals are fantastic to watch and witness up-close. Seeing a T-Rex is impressive, but so is seeing an elephant, a tiger, or a polar bear. I'm really eager to see what comes of this series.

It’s funny how just one guy can make better reconstructions of dinosaurs than several or even a hundred people can for a profitable project, like museums, games, and a certain upcoming movie. People tend to love dinosaur-related content, I’ve noticed. And being done from research and observation in nature really enhances the quality of the project. Mr. David, I tip my hat to you good sir! This is the documentary we’ve been waiting for so long! (EDIT: At the first segment, I love realized that the maniraptoran, I’d say a troodontid, possibly Albertovenator, is mimicking the sounds of the icicles falling! That was a nice touch!)

This whole thing looks so grandiose and magnificent, but finally seeing some accurately-feathered raptors and T-Rexes (Edit: I have been informed that it was actually a Nanuqsaurus, which is closely related to the T-Rex) brings me so much joy to my dinosaur-obsessed brain. Thank you for blessing us with something you have clearly put so much time, effort, passion and research into.
@enfieldlammergeier
@enfieldlammergeier 3 жыл бұрын
Feathered T-Rexes are not accurate anymore. A bunch of skin prints from various body parts (including back, tail and the back of the neck) were discovered, yet no sign of feathers anywhere. So, the Trex was most likely naked, as is evidenced in one of the shots. The Nanuqsaurus wasn’t, though. And I believe the feathered tyrannosaurid in the winter environment is Nanuqsaurus, rather than Trex.
@jasonvoorhees5180
@jasonvoorhees5180 3 жыл бұрын
The white feathered tyrannosaurids we see here in the trailer aren’t T.rex itself but a smaller relative called _Nanuqsaurus hoglundi_ . The T.rex is the larger species we see in the brown colored background shots (1:46 and 2:36)
@redeye4516
@redeye4516 3 жыл бұрын
People used to say a feathered tyranosaurid wouldnt look intimidating because it would look too much like a bird. If they want to stand in front of the thing, more power to them but I'm no snack. I'd still be plenty terrified of such a thing, if anything the feathers just make it look bigger.
@mozarteanchaos
@mozarteanchaos 3 жыл бұрын
@@enfieldlammergeier afaik, it's _technically_ possible t. rex had a light coat of simple feathers, but it certainly wouldn't've been extensive or particularly dense - and even that's looking increasingly unlikely. so, t. rex with "peach fuzz" is sorta plausible (and a fully scaly t. rex is just as (if not more) likely), but a t. rex with integument like the old saurian model is indeed impossible. and, yep, afaik that's not a t. rex
@echopeak5953
@echopeak5953 3 жыл бұрын
@@enfieldlammergeier Many of the T-Rex's ancestors and closely related species had been found with various amounts of feathers, which is important to keep in mind. Some even have variations of both skin, feathers and bird-like scales, akin to an ostrich (which has a belly and the back of the neck of bare skin, similar to the discovered locations you mention on the T-rex). The t-rex lived in both open areas and forests. Very few modern animals have bare skin all over, as this is not effective at temperature control (unless you wished to lose as much heat as possible) and also not effective camouflage. Many animals today have camouflage, even if not exact, they still somewhat match their environment. You mention the Nanuqsaurus (an interesting google search, thanks for letting me know), Which is incredibly closely related to the T-rex (same sub-family) and is completely covered in feathers, bar the face and feet. It did evolve before, which could mean that a large amount of the feathering dissappeared. Nanuqsaurus was known to lived around 71-68 million years ago, and the T-rex lived around 68 to 66 million years ago. I'm not a proffesional biologist but I doubt that 3 million years is enough time for feathers to completely disappear. What I am interested in, if the T-rex did not have some feathers or related structures, is what it had instead. It couldn't have had reptilian scales, since they evolved in a different manner to avian ones. The skin prints I believe you are referring to are tiny and in places already shared by partially feathered ancestors. Please let me know if I am wrong or you are referring to another more recent discovery, as I would love to learn more.
