That truly is a sign of excellence HLG has achieved. What you expressed used to be said of PNSO as well, and sadly they seem to be standing still of late. And add in the fact that HLG somehow keeps prices so affordable even for the West, it really is a no-brainer!

We should all be thankful to PNSO because their high quality sets the bar for other figure companies. My favorite is the green version, and if I have the chance to buy it, I would be very happy. I'm eager to hear your thoughts on the theory that Dacentrurus is Miragaia. You know how much I love the Miragaia figure, so it's disheartening to hear this news. Thank you so much for this video, my dear sir. You are the best. 🖤

Oh I didn't notice the earlier teases. From what you say, I'm glad they changed then! Stegosaurus really is one of those dinosaurs without enough material that sculptors have less excuse to get wrong. Not to mention, enough material that will get more dissatisfied customers if you mess up! I mean, this is not the same order of mistake that is more palatable than, say, Maiasaura's hornlets!

I am delighted that you enjoy the science parts as well! I love sharing what I learn and the quality of dinosaur models today really make it easy to want to know more! Actually I have started to prefer the blue, simply because it actually look more like green in my lighting, and so closer to my preferred stereotype red on green than the green itself!

@@DinosDragons Yeah, the science part is so nice, and also something that compliments you quite a bit since not many dinosaur youtubers does this. Lately people have been posting a lot of pictures of the 3rd version at dinosaur model group at FB, as well, and it looks amazing too. It is an art when a company makes 3 so good color variants. It is safe to assume that when they make the more classic Stegosaurus that we are used to, that it should be a little smaller than this one. I wonder if that one will have 3 color variants as well.

Really love this one. I agree with you that I hope they do stenops and that I wish it was 1:35 scale. Although really most Allosaurus models have a hard time fitting into 1:35 so perhaps it’s for the best. Still on the fence about buying though since I prefer stenops and already have the Rebor you showed. It is beautiful though.
@DinosDragons
@DinosDragons 6 ай бұрын
I think many people would have a hard time agreeing what 1:35, since it really depends on the dimensions of the real animal one scales from. And people can either be super picky, or super lax about what kind of leeway they can accept just to make a model fit into their wanted scale. But if I ignore that, then this is a beautiful model to have! Whichever colour you get!

I noticed you also went for the blue haolonggood Mamenchisaurus as well 😊 blue might be the new green for choice. 👍 it's true if the paint job is bad, then it requires a new paint over for sure! Since I have a mini herd of Stegosaurus from Nanmu , Pnso, and Haolonggood, the colors have to closely match 😅 I did the same coloration with my Pnso's first Mamenchisaurus and second model Erma to match the Haolonggood Green version and soon to the Linghu Art Studio model, which will be arriving soon. I am pleased to say I managed to find the correct color tones to tie all models together. The perfect family of Mamenchisaurus 😊

As much as I love blue, having it become the new green is something I fervently hope won't happen. Green used to be quite unusual, and now that it is happening more commonly, I am happy, but it at least is more believable on a large animal. I believe green in all its tonality and pattern possibilities haven't been fully explored yet. You may have noticed that the colour schemes on HLG's offerings have been really derivative. I hope blue stays as a rare special! That Linghui Art Studio model is awesome! If you ever start your own KZbin channel with your collection and/ or your paint work, drop me a line. I'd love to check it out! PS: My PNSO and Mamenchisauruses display together as parent and child 😁

@DinosDragons maybe you could have both worlds of green and blue together in an Aquamarine shade, but I guess it would not look good on a model dinosaur unless it has a splash of colors of it here and there to highlight certain areas. There are a lot of shades of green to begin with, which makes a lot of difference in a model. I would use blue to highlight certain areas when I paint. It's true about HLG's color scheme offerings. My linghu Art Studio Mamenchisaurus is on its way, and it's about 100 cm long, which is way bigger than HLG'S version. I just received my KM studio Ruyangosaurus, which is larger than HLG'S Alamosaurus, and my Bailan Studio Paralititan is on its way as well. This will keep me busy forever 😅 I will set up a page on Instagram and will give you a link to view my models soon. I'm not as brave to do a KZbin channel 😂

I've learned my lesson not to wait any more when it comes to models I am hesitating on because of either price wise or unsure if it goes along with my collection. I try not to get the same model twice unless if they are in a different pose or i am completely drawn to two colours like the HLG versions. My cabinets are filling up fast with every week something new comes up 😅 i agree With your concept wether it's "buying now and pay later" or regret when it's completely sold out and you have to buy it at an absorbent price down the road from somewhere else. I have to space these collections out as they don't come cheap with every release. 😆 I am extremely tempted when these studios release their high end models unpainted as their painted version is too costly hence I have to paint my own to cut ✂️ on cost. I have alot to paint currently and have not started on my Linghu Art Studio Mamenchisaurus which arrived last week. It's a 100 cm means the HLG dwarfs in size comparison. The Bailan Studio Paralititan is on its way as well and I up to my head with all these paint schemes. I've finished the JM studio Diplodocus, but i am still contemplating on the color choice. I have to use the HLG as a child compared with my linghu art studio Mamenchisaurus 😂 I will be posting these on my Instagram account. I've posted some of the regular models from HLG , Pnso, in my collection and will move on to these bigger ones. My instagram user name is home_of_ dinos. Nice review! Thanks for all the great shots and comparisons! I've ordered the same two colors. They should arrive next week. Can't wait! Now, of the comparisons you so abundantly provided, I just have to point out the one with the PNSO Wuerhosaurus. To start, I must say I love PNSO as well. Although, the problem I have with PNSO is I feel they're figures are often overpriced. This Wuerhosaurus is a perfect example of this. The much smaller Wuerhosaurus is generally selling for $35, while the much larger Haolonggood Stegosaurus is generally selling for $30. I also think the Haolonggood figure is overall a better looking figure than the PNSO Wuerhosaurus. In the end, I just hope Haolonggood can keep giving us these wonderful figures at these incredibly fair prices, and PNSO will consider coming down a bit. 🤞😉

I know a friend of a friend of PNSO founder. I am also in the toy industry. I can tell you that PNSO price is not overpriced. Their toys are still hand-painted by the best in the industry. In fact, they are complaining that their company is not making money and losing money. Its either that their operation is not efficient or that their production cost is too high.

@MacDinoland You are most welcome! I think you will find that in hand, yours will look even better than what I could capture on video. There are many subtleties the dynamic range of my camera just can't capture, and best appreciated in person. Be prepared to very happy with them! Regarding the price, a lot has to do with the shipping and other middle man charges you get slapped with. In China, we are paying PNSO Wuerhosaurus ¥120 = USD16.50 Haolonggood Wuerhosaurus ¥69 = USD9.50 You can see it's cheaper still to buy HLG in China, being double the price, but given the obvious difference in quality of sculpt it's ok. I think you can agree that paying USD16.50 for the PNSO is worth it, HLG is super cheap (current quality sculpting I mean), and the extras you are slapped on with is disgusting. For you guys it's really monstrous what you have to pay extra. I think the real mystery is, _how the devil is HLG able to charge so little still?_ That's why for me I made it a little mission of mine to review these so that Western viewers might have some input with which to make what is an incredible monetary investment.

I recently started buying HLG dinosaurs just because PNSO don't make 1:35 suropods. I got the HLG alamosaurus, manmenchiosaurus and the stego ungulatus. The stego has better form than the PNSO 2021 stego, but most newer PNSO figure has better color and texturing. HLG for me is a hit and miss. While I appreciate that they make the best mass produced 1:35 sauropods, I still don't like their head sculpt (too toy/cartoon-like) and paint application. My alamosaurus is from a second batch which have defective paint on one side that makes the skin looks like having cracks, while the manmechiosaurus has very good body form and better paint, sadly it looks like a paint job from a paint printer that is quite widely used now for various products. There are straight lines on the body that i can detect which looks suspiciously like a printer work. Compare this to newer PNSO dinos like the edmontosaurus and the tyranotitan, HLG still lags in quality. These new PNSO figures are looking like a taxidermized dinosaurs rather than a toy.
@player21099
@player21099 2 ай бұрын
The Edmontosaurus of the pnso has the wrong proportions of the head, and the haolonggood with their edmontosaurus is all right, also the wuerosaurus of the pnso is too fat, and the baryonyx is simply copied from saurophaganax. And kamarasaurus is generally an astrologer and his teeth are badly colored. Therefore, the new pnso figures are much worse than those of haolonggood.

Nice positive and informative review as always. What I like about this Haolonggood Stegosaurus ungulatus is that it matches very well with the PNSO Stegosaurus stenops in terms of size. And the entire question of size of the model of an extinct animal is a difficult question. First, different researchers come to different maximum size estimates based on different lines of argument. Second, we need to ask the questions how representative the size of fossils of a species of an extinct animal would be for the size range of adult individuals that animal. Over the course of millions of year there lived probably millions of stegosaurs on Earth and we have maybe 100 or so complete fossils. How likely is it that these 100 fossils cover the size range of that species? I would say not very likely. Therefore, I like the approach that the paleontology blogger the Vividen has taken where he used both extinct and living species (including large mammals) with good coverage and calculated the ratio between the largest adult individual and the average size of adult individuals. With that ratio he would then estimate the maximum size of other species. This is still an inaccurate approach with a large error margin, but much better than just assuming that the maximum and minimum sizes of fossils would represent the maximum and minimum of the entire population that ever lived. Population size dynamics by the way is also affected by environmental factors like climate and food availability. Which may be negatively correlated with preservation potential of fossils. I give you and example. In a warm, humid and rainy climate (like rainy forest) with abundant vegetation and food sources, herbivores can grow to the maximum size that is biologically possible. But the preservation potential of fossils in such an environment would be low. Conversely, in a dry and less vegetated environment (arid plains or even desert) the availability of food may limit growth, but in such an environment the potential for fossil preservation is much higher. So what we see in the fossil record would be biased towards the preserved fossils from the food limited environment.

I think as far as model size goes, given that we have very very very few dinosaurs for which enough complete specimens are known, there is always going to be room for interpretation. While I tend to give an estimate of scale based on the most common credible estimates, they are always going to be that. I agree with how you view the whole thing. Using Vividen’s, or any other educated estimate is a good start. What I don’t support is some people who say that since we will never know, and that we have not found the largest and smallest animals, let’s just scale up by 10%/ 20%/ 30%/ etc% each way. In that case we don’t really need to limit ourselves and can make our favourite large theropods as big as arbitrarily serves our beliefs or narratives. In addition, I think people sometimes forget that when upscaling/ downscaling, do they mean to scale mainly in length, or also everything else? A human being 20% taller than another isn’t necessarily 20% more in other directions. Finally, it assumes that every single specimen of a dinosaurs scales in exactly the same proportions. One just needs look at fellow humans around to know that is a fatuous supposition. And as you say, there are other factors like available food, space and other external factors. By the way, if you wouldn’t mind, please split into paragraphs the next time. You have written so much good stuff that I would love for other viewers to benefit from your knowledge too! I had to copy to Word and split into parts to fully appreciate what you have written 😁

Una gran sorpresa que HG hiciera un S. ungulatus, creo que fue la mejor elección para la marca y así lograr diferenciarse de los múltiples modelos de S. stenops que hay por todas partes. I am unfamiliar with Toyway. But I think that a walking, near neutral pose pleases the most collectors. I liked some other poses, but they can be a minus factor for many collectors. Even the Wilson T Rex looks a lot better from one side than the other. I believe that's why a more conservative pose, that is still active in feel, is still the safest bet for many companies.
@Arnoldiepin

I certainly am not advocating dramatic papo poses; however apart from perhaps only gastonia, all the HLG models are walking, maybe running, looking straight ahead. Once you notice this, they look all the same in this respect and it detracts form the otherwise excellent work, making them less convincing. A stout stride is a refreshing choice when used sparingly, but they shy away from animals looking to one side or the other, which Is so much more interesting when you place models together. The upcoming small stegosaur for example looks great.

In fairness, that model was released in 2019, and for its time, it was very good for the detail and the colours were smashing. I still like those dermal plates. HLG has had five years from then to refine its skills, and it has of course more modern Stegosaurus anatomy.
