It looks amazing, John. I don't know the station but it looks visually interesting. If you do do the other platforms maybe you could ha e them mostly overgrown with vegetation and trees so you don't need to see the full width. But maybe that is what you intend to do anyway!😊

Wow, that's just amazing John! I especially love the 3D printed parts, especially the doors and roof tiles. The chimney pots look great too, I find it hard to make mine that detailed, as I don't have a printer, I noticed when you cut the paper for the windows, you needed a new blade in your scalpel lol, yes, I really like the results you got, and yes go for the other buildings on the other side of the platforms, nice one John, cheers Dave
@piccadillymodelrailways Жыл бұрын
Thanks Dave, glad you liked it. Keeping fresh scalpel blades is a wise move. I use swann morten blades no 11, you can buy them in bulk, dirt cheap on eBay. I usually get couple of hundred at a time. I’m currently thinking how to go about the extra platforms and buildings. It’s the mainline side, requiring extra thinking power, lol. Thanks for your support.

Bless you Brian, thank you. I do understand what you mean about N gauge, although I have found some aspects of OO just as fiddly as N. That building was a nice size to work on. Honestly lol

Dear John, very cool build. Interesting how you added the valley gutter flashing. Such complex roof structures and connections always need a lot of attention. Love the different 3D printed parts. Awesome sash windows, paneled doors, chimneys, platform pillars. Cool how you printed the roof tiles, although I humbly think they look a bit big for N scale. Nevertheless, they definitely look their part. Absolutely agree on creating the tree sight line. Think it will visually tie the different scenes and angles together. That reminds me of previous comment I made, on the scenic divider at the edge of Piccadilly. Although I definitely like the effect of the painted skyline and sky, I’m still looking and wondering how the divider could add to the illusion of perspective from both scenic sides when the sky part would not be there. From the Manchester side it would give the impression of looking into the ‘hinterland’ and from the scenic side it would give the impression of a cityscape beyond the horizon of the dales. Also, it would assist in tying the scenes beyond the ‘edges,’ where your planned bridge over the station throat will cross the divider. But, as I said, really like the backdrop divider as it is. Just trying to think along, no offense. After all it’s your layout. Just attempt to think along the sight lines from my point of view! Cheerio
@piccadillymodelrailways Жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for your thoughts. Whilst I’m trying to omit backscenes in every part of the layout, some areas require it. Man Pic has a very specific skyline, which doesn’t link to any other area of the layout. If I remove the sky building shapes would be visible from the main line being way out of scale and look wrong. Not s You mention roof slates, I do believe some items need to be slight over scale to recognise them. Otherwise we end up with plain boxes we call buildings. It’s the fine details that feed the eyes. Hope that helps understand my thinking

Have you thought of getting the road bus moving? Small kids' bike chain held with 4+ small plastic gears with a magnet attached underneath and on top of the roadway with a motor driving a gear. This looks a cheaper and quieter way of maybe doing it than the monstrosities that you can get on the market. Just an idea, I know you might not have time for that, but I'm just putting it out there as one idea of many you probably get. All the best.
@piccadillymodelrailways Жыл бұрын
Hi, I do love the idea, but sorting a believable route which does not take away my access space is really difficult. Yes I agree the magnorail. System is very good. Secondly the bus is made from card with fixed wheels, why? Apart from modern coaches or the new London routmaster (Boris bus), no-one has made any N gauge modern buses. Loads in OO, none in N. Thank you the bus is believable enough. You can download a net which you fold up, I couldn’t leave it there lol. There are 4-5 on the layout.
@PeckhamHall Жыл бұрын
@piccadillymodelrailways tomytec moving bus system, one more idea, but I know it's not your cup of tea.
@piccadillymodelrailways Жыл бұрын
Thank you James, but as you say its not something for me at the moment. Space is my issue and creating a believable road that would cross at least two zones, destroying the idea each zone is miles apart, whilst being next to each other in model form.

Impressed with what you done so far John, for me as a ex-S&T maintainance manager are you going to fit in the signal box, & also repersent the viaduct? not depth but as a out line!
@piccadillymodelrailways Жыл бұрын
Hi, I’m debating the signal box. As there are only two points remaining. I’ve move the electrical box to track level, hoping to install everything as far as possible, it’s just space and practicality tbh. I am going to do version of the viaduct, maybe in a few weeks.

Hi Tony, thank you glad you like it. I debating the signal box. It might be tad smaller as the whole station is very short. We’ll see. Google earth has suddenly become amazing, I can pretty much see everything I need. Goes all along the platforms, inside too and not forgetting the satellite view too. Wish I had so many camera angles when I make Piccadilly. Thank you though Tony I do appreciate your support.

But still you provide an excellent video full of detail and explaination as always! A quick question if i may? Regarding your 3D printer...it looks like you're using resin now? If so what do you do about ventalation and i understand the fumes are quite bad and somewhat dangerous? Do you have a fume cupboard or something? I watched your 3D printing video from some time ago but I believe you were using filament back then? I jsut wondered what your set up is now and any tips that you haVE. Also what design software do you use now? Thanks again for the video John and take care. Mav

Hi Mav, all the hardware is the same, ie Creality Ender 3v2. I still use Tinkercad, the big difference is the latest version of Cura 5.4. With each incarnation, the g-code is becoming more and more accurate. For me I really dont like resin printers for the reasons you gave, along with the need for a curing chamber, endless amounts of IPA etc etc. The creality, although not silent, is easy to do and relatively quick. Hope that helps.
@Mav_at_Pwll-Y-Ddraig Жыл бұрын
@@piccadillymodelrailways Thanks John. I have a Creality Ender 3 S1 I believe. TBH I have been struggling a bit with it, getting it level even though it is supposed to have an auto leveler!. I didn't know Cura was up to 5.4 I have been using Pura 2.6 but i see now that Cura has treesupports so I might give it a go again. What amazes me with your prints is just how smooth they are, no lines visible at all. You must have yours set up really well :) Anyway, Thanks again John and happy modelling!
@piccadillymodelrailways Жыл бұрын
The results can vary depending on the setting of the machine. Move away from heat spots and draughty as they can severely affect the print. I put Cura onto to finest settings ( super quality), 0.8mm layer height, with a speed of 25 for outer & inner walls. Retraction is enabled set at 5, with speed of 45mm/s. Cooling is enabled. Really fine prints are always done on a raft set at 2mm, 0.3mm air gap. Prints over 20mm in each direction no raft straight into the bed. I’ve upgraded my machine so much, with direct drive, glass bed, creality auto leveller. Our machine are fairly similar. The S1 was the base ender with extra mods added. Pl say if I can help. KZbin is amazing for ender series inc problems. That’s where I learnt.
