This song, this version, this concert was live at the radio, Hilversum 3. I was but a mere child, enthralled by this magic song about the everlasting war between angels and devils. Many, many thanks for uploading this clip.

Notice he Dio sings "Heaven and Hell, it's a thin disguise for what you are". This became a line on the subsequent Last In Line CD; the song was "Evil Eyes".

They had the two shows, one, this at the beginning of tour for Europe and the later at the Spectrum sold in the USA, one could not get the other back then.. They divided many of the songs on the two versions, cut out. I want to see them both in completion. Dio's voice is perfect in this earlier concert and Viv is on fire a few months later in Phily. The are two of the greatest metal concerts EVER.

Fuckin' A!!!!! Sadly, I was only in like, 7th grade, at an Xian school and had NO IDEA Ronnie existed! But I got with the program a few years later lol. Watching this was every bit as good as being AT the concert, in my opinion. :) Thank you so much!

Campbell's only 21 yrs. old here, a prodigy. It's too bad he didn't stay w/ this band longer. IMHO, he's underated today cuz of the bands he joined after DIO (e.g., Whitesnake, Def Leppard). Fantastic axeman in the hard rock/heavy metal genre.

I wish I could have seen this tour. Fresh out of Sabbath, Dio (and Vinnie for that matter) only had one album's worth of Dio-the band-material so you would have seen a good chunk of "Live eviL" mixed in with Holy Diver.

You should check out Vivian's playing on the Sacred Heart Tour. There are bootlegs of it on KZbin. The great thing about Vivian as a player is that he developed so well between the first Dio record and the third. In retrospect, Craig Goldy could not touch Vivian's sense of rhythm or note choice. Vivian' s playing has bite, spontaneity and that X factor! Does anyone think this was lost on Ronnie? Ronnie used words like " Brilliant " about Vivian and Dio's band suffered when Vivian was fired!!

Dio and Appice fresh out of Sabbath running circles around the Live eviL gig! Only thing is that Jimmy Bain uses a guitar pick and it wears thin in the extended jam.

@HumanityBlows Shame he had to go the way he did. But...It's okay. I know he's aware he's influenced thousands of us. And I think if we all remember his music and how happy he was for all those years, I think he'll be fine with being dead. We just gotta make sure we don't forget his tunes!

I'm guessing that at this stage of the DIO band, most of this fan-base would have been drawn from the Dio-in-Black-Sabbath era. If you look at RJD in Rainbow, he came off more as a "hippie" with light-colored clothes and bell-bottom trousers, so the Sabbath days really shaped him into a more "evil" personae.

@t33275 Haha, well, everyone has their own opinion. Iommi can play fast, but he's at his best when he plays those dark groovy solos :D That's his signature sound, and nobody sounds the same.
