All your videos have been a great help for me. I'm an old dog trying to learn electronics. Thank you for posting!

This is a topic I committed to memory as a building block over 40 years ago. I still enjoyed your video - as always. Thanks, Rick.

@AllAmericanFiveRadio Rick, "New beginners every day". How very true. So many of us have gained from your KZbin videos... and there's so many more to come. Pat yourself on the back, son. You deserve it. Regards, John

@ae4se I would have to look at the wiring diagram to make sure, but the FR-1 could be their part number for the diode.

Thanks CameramanLink Yes, but I had not done vacuum tube and solid state side by side. And it is for the beginners, I don't want to forget that there are new ones everyday. I plan on covering those receivers too.

Thanks AndyDaviesByTheSea Thanks Andy, I try not to forget the beginners, the basics are very important, everything builds on them. Well, in the short-term future, everything will be memory, no moving parts. That one is easy to see. But being all memory, that will help develop a new direction in technology. Regards, Rick

Hi Rick, Question about the bottom circuit design. What is the purpose of having the 2nd current path flow through a winding in the transformer before joining up at C17?
@AllAmericanFiveRadio13 жыл бұрын
@ae4se When I was getting started in this, a radio TV repairman told me that the best tube tester is a known good tube. And the oscillator circuit is the most critical.
@AllAmericanFiveRadio12 жыл бұрын
If you familiar with the tube circuit you can determine which tube may be the problem without test equipment.

Hi Rick Another good video for the library, I wonder what will be the next technology that takes over from solid-state? I worked with people who made mechanical calculators, they couldn't imagine any other sort of technology taking over, mind you I don't think it’s all progress. Well done. Kind Regards ... Andy

You sir, are a good teacher.Thanks

When I was in school the teacher would walk around the class and pull a tube from another tv and so swap it with the one we thought was bad. We did have a tube tester but my teacher didn't seem to want to use it.

Thanks jgrayemerson I have had a few younger KZbinrs subscribe recently. So I thought it would be a good idea to go through some basics again. My next video is comparing a tube and transistor receiver. The computer tells me that it is going to take three hours to compile, lots of drawings.
