See how PN diodes work. What is covalent bond, the octet rule, the depletion zone, energy level of electons and more. Also how LED works and solar cells. I hope you will learn something new with these animations.

Well done . a fine explanation ! ! Finally an explanation for newcomers to semiconductors that explains (see: 4:48 to 5:34 ) the nature of "holes" or the absence of electron in the P doped channel of a PN diode! The idea that a "hole" is the name of the absent electron is very important, because outside of the diode ALL the current through the copper conductor flow is ONLY electrons. The "hole" is just the representation of the absence of a electron in the P material of the diode but it helps to visualize the action within a PN diode Well done . a fine explanation ! !

Using an LED as a light source makes it a flawed demonstration on showing how a diode will block current flow in one direction. Take the diode out of the circuit and the result will be exactly the same. If LED's have to be used over incandescent, mount two in inverse parallel and demonstrate that current will flow in both directions without the diode, then it will be a valid demonstration.

Thanks for explaining things in a simple way. This is exactly what I was looking for. I want your help with a project I already have and am working on but need help with the understanding of the functioning of the circuit and it’s different parts please. I tried to sign up through patreon but all the payment options are per month while I might just need a one or two time chat with you and not something ongoing on a monthly basis. Please let me know how to proceed. Thanks.
