DION ~ RUNAROUND SUE. I recorded Runaround Sue with “The Del-Satins” and black musicians from the Apollo theater, Buddy Lucas on Sax, Sticks Evans on drums, Panama Francis on percussion,Teacho Wilshire on piano, Milt Hinton on bass, and Mickey “Guitar” Baker. ~ When Hollywood filmed this rendition they use all white actors playing musicians behind me, knowing the film wouldn't get played in the South at that time.

@@daniloungeinc.5102 I think you mean vaporwave, but I guess if you wan to get technical - I do listen to the music created by turning images and data into that. There's algorave and NASA has sounds for planets and stuff. What decade is algorave related to? But if you want to say what's 'characteristic' - anything in music is pretty much built on itself - so that argument is pretty useless.

@Jay Dee Ha! People like you make me laugh. Funny how you don’t understand what an opinion is, and that neither is right or wrong. And again, music has not turned to pure shyte as there are many great songs and videos explaining songs with great qualities in them. You don’t have to like them, but that doesn’t mean it’s all bad. But alas, if I would agree with you, I would be stupid. And even calling you stupid is an insult to stupid people. ;)

@Jay Dee Don't worry bro, these people condemn themselves by their own words. See how in order to finally win, he has to belittle you, yet, hypocritically, plays the "cool and non-judgemental" dude when it comes to the music. He's rather judge you, a fellow human. You are right, he has much to learn about life. Beginning with the meaning of quality. But, as he is the one who has to learn, be gentle with people like him, they lack, being less mature and more thoroughly tainted by the world's filth, which is why they can't differentiate things in the way you are speaking about. They need to learn, so you must explain to them what they are blind about, that they might begin to see. And in the process of helping another, you yourself grow. ;)

How often do I need to say this? What you're looking at is the scene from a movie. The "dead" audience is a bunch of extras. Notice the change in camera angles during his song. Floor cameras were on rolling stands and weighed a ton. Upper shots would have been "boom" cameras. The "number" was clearly edited, as in (ready) a movie! So the people likely didn't even hear the song. (Same with "The Wanderers.") If that's not enough, note the Sax player. He isn't even keying the Sax. It's-a-movie, my friends. Ghostbuster.

Dion's back story comments really sum up so much of that era. I really appreciate the entire arc of his career, and even "Abraham, Martin, and John" is half a century in the rearview mirror, but timeless. I was surprised and impressed, when he released his blues album, and elaborated about Skip James as a mentor. His roots run deep, and acknowledging influences deserves respect back at him.

Ahh the 60s. When I heard the song, I closed my eyes and thought back in time. I wasn't lucky enough to spend my youth in this decade, let alone experience anything of it (born 99), but I imagine it to be just like in the movies. Of course it's only the films from which I get my idea. But what would I give to just spend one day and one evening in this era. Everything seemed so simple and straightforward back then. I would be in college with my friends, help out in my uncle's workshop in the afternoon and in the evening drive my Ford Mustang to the annual barn festival and drink the best beer there with my mates and just dance until the morning to this song and others .
