I saw this movie in cinema when I was young in East Berlin. Never again I saw a movie which touched my heart like this. When the movie was over I sat there and couldn't stop crying. I am looking for it for years now to watch again... but can't find it

My Chinese teacher introduced this film to me back in high school. At that time, I couldn't fully understand the background of the film, mainly historically, but the acting, cinematography and music left me with a deep impression. Especially the cinematography because the film was photographed in 35mm anamorphic scope which gives you even more cinematic and "reel" look, unlike most film's today that are mostly digital productions that just shoot in Super-35 and cropped for that "scope" look.

Do you have any additional info on the film's music ? Especially the acapela at around 50th minute ...

@@carcrashset Sorry I didn't see your reply until a year later. I'm not sure the name of the song but it's in the film. Back in the 80s, Mainland Chinese films tend to retain many musical elements very common even back in the golden days of Chinese cinema in Shanghai in the 1930s. The style's changed now in 2020.

I loved this movie very very much. When I was teenager and still dreaming about love. Greetings from Germany in 2020
