If ever a song spoke to my situation in 1986 it was "Since You've Gone'. I met the love of my life in May 1986. I had plans to take us to the top....then people, places and things came between us and I was left standing "waiting for that call that never came'. Belinda sang this song with so much passion and realism in this video.. she said everything "exactly" in this performance.

I bought this album day it came out. My gf/future wife and I got goosebumps from this song. She is so great. We saw her on the Heaven tour and Im gonna tell you that was the greatest live show with energy I have ever seen. Im putting this up against Aerosmith, Kansas, Grateful Dead, etc..emotion and energy wise she is #1 on my seen list. The Outfield opened and made for a great 80s night.

Such a perfect performance of Belinda!!!! For my opinion "Since you've gone" was the best song on her first album,it was really underrated and this was a unforgivable pity. It's a perfect ballad with great soul. If it had been chosen as second single with a good videoclip it could have been her first number one in the USA charts and today an eternal evergreen with many covers of young artists.

Beautiful Belinda Carlisle with her voice it shakes my feelings with fresh memories of a time gone. there were time when you really love me and I love you too. Since you are gone don;t care about tomorrow. The love and the destiny aren't good partners. Thank you for posting this video I never knew this song and I love now

diopside77; Wow; posted 6 years ago! THANK YOU!! This is the single best video of Belinda on all of KZbin...Belinda is a friend of mine, and she talks about this clip in her autobiography 'Lips Unsealed' ; she said while years ago she was updating her website, she came across this clip on YT,she didnt even know it existed; she was scared to watch it, because she was so nervous this night performing at The Roxy, she thought it would be awful (her lifelong battle with insecurity) well she says in her book that her hand was shaking as she hit the 'play' button....and BAM! she was so pleasantly surprised how good it was; for a moment, she was actually really proud of herself; a very rare feeling for her.....Anyway, When this album came out, this was the song that I played over and over; I thought "shit, Madonna's got nothing on this" (its the 80s folks!) It is the best song Belinda ever recorded, and its even better live here; She's always been so much better live, even when she was all fucked up on coke, she still would just blow the place away; this is one of the most under-appreciated performances ever; but to whomever posted this, Belinda wants you to know she got so much self-confidence back after viewing this....Read her book, everybody!

Thank you for sharing this story. Belinda Carlisle was my earliest musical memory, having Heaven On Earth on cassette as a 3-y-o. I would revisit this album every few years, but now I can explore more of her incredible music thanks to KZbin. I had the luck and pleasure of watching her perform at the MN State Fair last summer, and it was a much needed moment of bliss, nostalgia, and transcendence in these confusing times.

Amazing ballad and my Favorite along with "Mad About You!" She sings this beautiful song with such emotion and deepness! Love the highs and lows to this ballad, so incredibly melancholy, but makes you really feel the harmony. Wish Belinda would re-release it today and put her special magic into it! I agree this song should have been a single and a great video would have made it a top hit!

Being born in 1980 and living through that decade with a plethora of mainstream pop music dating back to 1955 with every era in between, I can tell you straight off that you hardly need to just rock hard and be a metal head (though I have tried it) in order to demonstrate power. Belinda (probably) demonstrates more power in this one performance than System of a Down have demonstrated in their whole catalog.
@ScottyColoradoKid7 жыл бұрын
Well said Shread! I like that you picked 1955 because of course thats when i was born! Belinda was born in '57; I know! She's 60? No Way! I really like what you say here about how she demonstrates more power in this one performance than any hard rock band; very well said...and so true....as River states here from 3 years ago, her solo career was SO mis-managed; Yes this should have been released as a single, but its too good for car radios!

Someone tore a page out of the Madonna songbook and this tune very much of all pop songs that can compete with Madge and this was one of those, I'll admit never paid attention to Belinda Carlisle in the 80's but she may had been the only that can compete with Madonna.
